This is another one of my posts along with my post on the human flaying craft .
my post is about the prone position it would be a life saver for the halo snipers
now most of you are saying how would that work, well u know how u have to hold
down the left thumb stick to crouch why not just click once to go in crouch and click again to go in prone. but most of you are thinking what if u want to crouch and then get up and run well that would be the draw back of it but im still thinking of ways to get around that problem.

It would be nice to be able to prone, but its not an absolute necesity to make the game great.

Prone would be a nice thing to have in Halo 2, even simply for sneaking around. The Rainbow Six 3-style system (click once for crouch, click again for stand) would work well, I believe.

Master Cheif is run and gun he isn't any take the time and wait for someone to come out into his view. I don't think they should treat this like a Rainbowsix/ Socom kind of game.

I think it wouldn't be too hard to implament into the game. You could click to go to the crouch position and click and hold for about 3 seconds to go prone.

The Master Chief emerged from his code. After seeing his dynamically lit realtime shadow, he went back for 9 more months of development.

Behold the power of the Originals, the Gods Axeone-Neurone.

That would not be a good toggle option. From a crouched position you would need one button to stand up and one to go prone.

quick double click = prone
click again in prone = change to prone
double click in prone = stand up

click once while standing = duck
click once after ducking = stand

MSXL: The Last Honest Chapter

I don't think the question is based around if they can implement it as much as it is [/i]why[/i] the would. Would it really make the gameplay a ton better? I mean, it's hard enough getting sniped with the players crouched in Halo 1! Although maybe a fun little gimmick, I don't think it is all that necessary.

Forum Tutorials --- WATCH THEM AND LEARN

To become the best of the best, you must learn all the buttons and skills, customize the controller to suit your needs. Take advantage of the crouch, lie down, straff, and all the other abilities that MC will have in halo 2. Don't just stick to the bare minimum. They should make what you are talking about, an option, rather than already being there. That way, if you don't like it, you can change it back.

I remember Bungie saying somewheres that there would be a bit of a stealth element in the game. And saying that MC "is run and gun" is totally contrary to what you see in some battles in the books (or if you're smart, some battles in the game). The SPARTAN IIs regularly planned their attacks carefully, before and after the MJOLNIR shield upgrades.

Aaaanyways...

Going prone would make it a standard sit on your butt camp fest FPS. This is Halo. Run and Gun baby

crouching is already un-usefull in halo 1 ..... People who crouch to shoot are (excuse the term) NEWBE....

Crouching is only usefull to dodge sniper shot...and even then.

Proning would be at the edge of stupidity. Slow movement , exposed head , Easy headshot........

oh yeah you are right

I think he means that proning would be the same as "playing dead," not laying down and crawling.

It would be a cool addition, but not for Halo 2. It just doesnt fit with the Halo gameplay. I mean, if they had a prone option, why not have a "cut down bushes and cover yourself with leaves" option? The prone option is for more stealth/recon games.

well me personally would like the prone and I don't see why it should be opposed, like it's been said, not many people use crouch even, and that shows that it wouldn't create games where everyone just sits on their rear all game. I think it should be implemented because it would be cool to hide better in foliage and other areas for sniping.

"Master Cheif is run and gun he isn't any take the time and wait for someone to come out into his view"

I agree, but it seems like he is being a little more cautious this time around, think about it, he can shoot out lights like Splinter Cell, so why not go prone and take the fight to the baddies while gettin a little R&R?

The prone position might come in handy every once in a while, but I couldn't see people using it all that often. Unless of course all they did was snipe, then it would be important, but halo is so much more than just sniping, its also bashing, and blasting, and exploding.
Oh, and coylter, i wouldn't advise saying the N-word (n- - b). I did and they sicked the falming ninjas on me! Their swords burned, but that also cauterized the wound, so i guess it works out.

They should just have it as Jump to get upright. They could also make it Jump to get from prone to upright.
The Prone position would be awesome. In fact, just a simple way to stay in the crouch without holding down the stick would be good enough.

The first Halo did not use the "D-pad" on the controller at all. If the crouching was mapped to that directional pad the game could then be able to use the clicking down on the thumbstick for something else, like full on running.
