Subject: Which one should be the main enemy?

Here’s what Luke had to say about the differences in treatment between the Spartans and Elites in Reach:

“Instead of piece-by-piece customization like the Spartans, Elite customization is a full model swap with models selected from the various Elite classes appearing throughout the Campaign. There are all kinds of reasons for this, not the least of which is our continued emphasis on the Spartan as your identity in Reach.”

They should both be featured, working together. Elites in command, Brutes used as tougher grunts with better firepower. And vehicles.

theoreticly they would be awsome to fight with the brutes strangth and the elites tactics they would be an awsome combo. but like others said it wouldnt make any sence to see them since we havent encountered them until the nier end of halo2

Does anyone remember the second hanger bay from the Halo 2 level Cairo Station? I think that really showcases how much harder Elites are to kill, when compared to Brutes. Especially when on Legendary. Taking cover behind boxes, and working together. Plus their recharging shields, and when damaged they pull out a sword.

What do brutes do? Stand in one area. Work independently, (usually)and when they lose their "armor" they charge you, giving you the perfect chance to headshot them.

Not fun at all.

And in Halo: Combat Evolved, Elites doged grenades, f***ed you up, and gave commands to the grunts and jackles all at the same time....brutes, well, they only sat there and waited for you to kill them......true story.
dont forget, brutes also shout random phrases like "you killed my lover" (true story) and kill the grunts with brute shot (lol their aim sucks)

Big Team Battle Multiflag/Slayer on Standoff/Valhalla/Sandtrap/Avalanche = Win

Im sure elites and brutes will put their differences aside when it comes to defeating demons.

And during halo CE you were followed by an Elite Fleet. Led by Thel'Vadam the soon to be Arbiter. Thats why you didn't encounter any brutes during CE. Keep in mind that the covenant threw tons of ships at Reach and odds are, some of them are Brute.

Dude I don't care and my grammer is perfect.I used "Big", as you recall it to mak is specific."to not do...",is incorrect beause "do" is present tense/perfect(or future) when it was a past tense.

Why aren't people voting both? Even if you hate brutes, can't nothing but good come from more variety?

Neither, according to the books grunts and jackals are the main enemy.

its TRUE

People who think brutes are too easy are playing Halo 3 Campaign on a difficulty thats too easy for them. If legendary can't quench your thirst for a challenge, try turning on some skulls and playing solo.

Strictly story-wise, Brutes didn't have a military presence in the Covenant at this point, though they were ramping up to it. There may be a few Brute-run ships and Brutes working the heavy lifting in Covenant facilities. If the campaign takes you into a Covenant ship or a covenant base, then I do suspect Brutes are the logical enemy to encounter frequently.

However, Bungie loves the brutes. So they'll be in the game even if it doesn't make sense. They'll just stretch logic to make it make sense.

Tada!

Halo 3 campaign sucked, but I really liked the way the fights go in ODST

Your guide to everything Halo: Halopedia

I really miss fighting the elites simply because when you took down their shields, you had to make sure that you finished the job, lest they regenerate. With the brutes, once their shield is down, it is gone. I really don't care for that aspect of the brutes. It simply becomes too easy to kill them. Not to mention that they will charge you any chance they get, which promotes a more run-and-gun style of gameplay, very much like that of Halo 3 and even ODST.

  • 10.06.2009 8:58 PM PDT

I enjoy fighting the Brutes, but I also miss fighting the Elites. So my vote goes to both. I think it would be cool if they had it to where you fought them both like it was in Halo 2.

  • 10.06.2009 9:01 PM PDT

Both would be sick. Serious ego battles on [Redacted] the battlefield.

ya, but if bungie does that the game would suck (if thats possible)and it would be waaaaaayyyy too easy.

Actually, if they followed the books, then the sheer number of grunts and jackals you'd have to fight at once could be a bit tricky. Especially if say, I dunno, ten percent of the grunts had fuel rod cannons.

In Halo CE the brutes were nowhere to be seen, suggesting that they probably resided mainly on high charity and had little to do with the offensive force at the time. Lets face it; The game won't make sense if there are brutes in it and I think it's generally agreed that fighting elites is far more fun than fighting brutes.

I'd be perfectly happy if brutes were left right out of reach. They're just boring blocks of muscle that require bugger all skill to beat. Rather than try and revise them for a third time, bungie should just leave them out.

Brutes probably won't be in Reach but there's always the slightest possibility.
That's what we all said about ODST. I hope we get Brutes and Elites in here.

I never read about Brutes in the Battle of Reach, but i hope both Elites and Brutes fight together so we can kick they're ass together. :p

in Halo CE you were followed by a small fleet not the entire Covenant and the fleet was an all Elite one so thats why you didn't encounter any brutes

it doese'nt look nextgen , looks good but not nextgen
If by next-gen you mean crappy, dark and colorless, I agree. It doesnt look next-gen at all.

Not sure why everyone hates brutes. They are basically Elites with a different model but they act mostly the same (except the whole berserk mode).

  • 10.07.2009 4:45 PM PDT

Elites are more fun to fight than brutes.

  • 10.07.2009 4:49 PM PDT

Were it so easy.

I already made a thread about this.

One thing is no matter what brutes dont take cover and elites also charged but it was only if they were stuck
