Subject: grunts should be tougher

I'd like to see them be more confidant. It would only make sense, since the Covenant basically creamed Reach, and they didn't know the full extend of humanities power.

Blame the piss-poor training.

The Covenant has been fighting them for 23 years. They most likely seen the full extent.

I dont think you want to have a thousand grunts running at you, even in the state their in right now they would kill you in those numbers. There are so many of them that the movement of that pile of flesh would cause your controller to vibrate more than SanFran during an earthquake.

Invisible grunts who will actually plow you with needle bullets and have tougher armor.

I think it should be a little bit harder to get headshots on grunts, but other than that I think they are fine the way they are.

get out of here stalker

Grunts are cannon fodder.
Think about this: You are batman, the thugs are grunts, and Bane is a pair of hunters.

Most kills in the world with the Storm rifle in halo 4, the Plasma Repeater in halo reach, and the Plasma rifle in halo 3.

Betatesters are disposable.

Grunts are cannon fodder - and I think that is what they are supposed to be. Quantity rather than quality.
Little, scared things which sometimes get brave and heroic (kamikaze).

I think they fit well the way they are.

I think they should be better, not ridiculously so but to the extent that a grunt major can overpower a marine and grunt spec-ops do the same for ODSTs.

My troll sense is tingling.

No, that's just really un-grunty.

Signatures are for squares.

The only badass grunt, EVER, was Dabab. Yapyap was alright.

But seriously, Grunts are just meant to be canon fodder. You use up ammo on them, so the Elites are more of a challenge.

I would love to see a scripted event of a Marine getting beat up and killed, brutally, by two Grunts.

That would change my view of the Grunts for sure.

The grunts make up for the individual weaknesses with numbers, stronger allies, and plasma grenades.

I absolutely resent that idea.
Grunts are supposed to be quick kills and easy chain points/medals in firefight.

The less than a second latency of online play is a better system to play off of than more health.

You realize this system is just as host based, right? because if you're fighting host, or someone with a better connection to host, and you each start firing at the same time, his BULLETS will register first, giving him slightly more health if the melees happen at the same time.

So would you rather have the BS of both, or just one?

A few ways to improve grunts for Halo: Reach
-Improve the weapons: If plasma pistols are made into competent stand-alone weapons (not just a green light that can stall vehicles/ only function as a shield dropper) then a squad of, or even individual grunts can actually pose great threats to enemies instead of simply delivering a wall of green spam that will may grind you down if you fail to take cover in time.
-Define their role in the covenant: In the books elites/ brutes frequently send wave after wave of fodder grunts to their demise if only to waste the ammo of human foes. In the games they most frequently behave like living shields around commanding units. I would love to see a group of elites maneuvering around on their own (maybe further back) as they send their grunts on a close up rush to try and flush out players. Grunts are the pawns of the covenant (chess pawns, otherwise everything but the prophets are pawns) they are deployed so that they can take heavy losses to achieve often meager ends. Let us see them used as such.
-Give them more endurance: I personally don't use the BR/ Carbine in campaign because they make fields of grunts simply vanish, though many players to not confine themselves in the same ways I do. Grunts can be made a great deal more interesting if the game's arsenal, or perhaps some head protection, makes grunts something more than an easy kill with a burst of cheating headshot spam. I love filling grunts with spikes or landing a ful magazine of SMG into the little guys and still manage to see a mob of little critters shooting back at me.

-blam!- GTFO OF MY SIGNATURE

They seem fine the way they are. I would just like to see more of them at one go. And play on Heroic or Legendary sometime. They kill you once in awhile, but they are meant to be cannon fodder; stuff that distracts you from the actual threat and to soak up your ammunition and weaken you before the real attack.
