It is the AR.

Master chief always has an AR, in the cut scenes, on the box cover, in the books.

Wouldn't the signature weapon be a Halo ring itself? It is the whole plot of all 3 games.

Edit: some people already said this.

yep and i still agree

bungie has proven that a bunch of monkeys sitting in front of keyboards can randomly type out a masterpiece. the thing is, when you go to play the masterpiece, you cant help but notice all the monkey s**t smeared all over it.

it gets real old having to wait months for someone like mlg to clean off all the monkey poo.

battle rifle or h1 pistol.

you spawn with it, you get most of your kills with it, if you watch any halo video or montage, its what you are going to see.
finally, if they hadnt existed, halo wouldnt be what it is today. we would all be playing barbie's horse adventure instead.

It depends on how you look at it. I would say by definition, the "signature weapon" of a series would be what the general population associate's with the game, not what "Master Chief preferred in the books" or what "Master Chief always has on his back in the cutscenes (even if I never used it when I played campaign)".

The bottom line is, when you talk about Halo, people associate Halo with multiplayer. And the weapon most people associate Halo multiplayer with is the battle rifle (and the pistol in halo CE).

There is no denying this. This is not my opinion. This is a statistical fact.

The BR is the right choice forget about the "spray and pray" antics of the ar/smg and feel the wrath of a 4shot

  • 10.16.2009 7:21 AM PDT

I say the AR but truly its the Halo aray

Nihilism (from the Latin nihil, nothing) is a philosophical position that argues that existence is without objective meaning, purpose, or intrinsic value.

Put simply in the words of Nietzsche as "the will to nothingness".

it's obviously the assualt rifle, even though most people whine about it like children.

Since the first Halo the signature weapon has been the AR. Even in the novels, though different iterations, the AR is the primary weapon.

The only reason the BR is used so much is because of how easilly it allows people to call themselves "skilled".

even though most wanna-be MLG losers are obsessed with it, it is still one of the few guns in halo that require you to actually aim.

The simple fact that the BR is used so much (which I think, statistically it IS the most used weapon) means people associate halo gameplay (especially multiplayer) with the Battle Rifle. That would make it the signature weapon. When people think Halo, they think Battle Rifle.

Also, as someone mentioned earlier, the AR was completely removed from the series for one iteration. How can that be a signature weapon?

Sure the BR wasn't in CE, but the BR is really just the spiritual successor to the CE pistol, which was the most widely use weapon in that game, too.

There's a different one for each Halo game.

This is true.

For Halo CE, it is definitely the Assault Rifle.
For Halo 2, it is definitely the Battle Rifle.
For Halo 3, it is, again, the Assault Rifle.
For ODST, it is probably the SMG.

For the series as a whole, though, I'd say the Assault Rifle.

u cant be serious

Halo CE i guarantee most ppl used the mag with the scope and a pp. an ar on legendary is worthless
halo 2 BR and a pp
halo 3 still has a br so it is still the br & ppnot the ar
halo odst isi the automag are u sure u played ODST um i think more ppl used an auto mag & pp.

conclusion the plasma pistol is the signature weapon b/c without it legendary and mythic would be impossible

halo 3 explanation the ar isnt used more than the br by a long shot who uses an ar on mythic????

fyi if any weapon should be brought back it should be the old sniper weapon from HALO CE it had 3 diffrent zooms, fired faster, and had night vision with the scope

Plus it actually took some skill, as you had to lead your targets and there wasn't much autoaim/magnetism.

No, it means they use it the most because its a good weapon. Do you see the master chief with a battle rifle on any of the game covers? how often does he use it in the books? Was it one of the first weapons in halo CE?

It may be used the most but that doesn't make it signature. Because if that were true, then why isn't it the most popular vote on this thread? If your "statistical fact" is such a fact, again WHY is it not the most voted weapon on this thread?
