http://img200.imageshack.us/img200/749/figuresbolder.jpg Anyone have any ideas as to what the heck the spartan on the left is holding? if anyone has a good idea or quote from book i'll post it.
Here, someone colored it in. http://img190.imageshack.us/img190/6819/possiblecharacters.pn g looks a little more distinctive than just black silhouettes.

It also appears that the second one from the left has some sort of heavy weapon on their back. Not a clear enough view for any type of speculation though.
1) The one on the left might be holding some sort of automatic shotgun. It looks like it could be because of the size of the barrel. The thing hanging down could be machine gun ammo but it also looks like some sort of blade, so it could be a covie weapon.

That, is a minigun. Not like the turret, but like the gun the Heavy from TF2 uses. But maybe with more bullets. There is only 1 barrel, and the gas piston for the action cycle. It is not a minigun, at least not like the one in Halo 3.
- Now that we know it's not a minigun we can assume the thing hanging down isn't an ammo belt. This led me to the idea that the thing hanging down could be some sort of stand, and the gun could be some sort of mortar cannon (Simalar to the one in LINKY)
I think everybody thinks the guy in the middle is holding an Assault Rifle, but i think it looks more like an early version of the battle rifle. It looks a lot like the gun here http://www.bungie.net/images/news/inlineimages/final_onyx_cov er.jpg

1) just found this link in another thread http://halo.wikia.com/wiki/MA5K_Carbine So it's not a prototype BR but it is actually a mix of the Assault rifle and the Battle Rifle.
2) (part of it's description) "Based on current-era tactical philosophy, it is believed that the MA5K version, was produced specifically for because of its lighter frame, which allowed for more quick maneuvering and less visible profile, and probably for its lighter aural signature, which suits the requirements of commando missions well. This would make it perfect for Marine Shock Troops and vehicle crews as well, since it would not take up much room inside the vehicle. "
3) By the sounds of this description, Maybe Reach will be more of a tactical shooter, or it just could be another new gun. Maybe in the game you'll actually be able to switch between fully automatic fire (for close range) and burst fire (for more accurate long range)
