The less than a second latency of online play is a better system to play off of than more health.
You realize this system is just as host based, right? because if you're fighting host, or someone with a better connection to host, and you each start firing at the same time, his BULLETS will register first, giving him slightly more health if the melees happen at the same time.
So would you rather have the BS of both, or just one?

I like this idea. I would like to see the format of halo change at least a little. these missions where u basically are a one man army are kind of lame. In halo:CE it made sense i mean you are on some weird alien structure and only one ship full of people came and it was just survivors of its crash that you see, but halo 2 an 3? you are on earth for crying out loud and you barely see more soldiers than in halo:CE. I never read books but since Reach is a humen colony to my knowledge i would like alot more human forces as well as covies.
I agree completely. Halo: CE's missions and overall tone was one that let you feel like a part of a small scale guerrilla force (making speedy peican assaults on beaches before covie backup comes in to wipe out all the allied AI on the map, making a night raid on a carrier, and occasionally being teleported away to run through space dungeons).
Then halo 2 and 3 made you almost always feel as if you were part of a larger battle but gave you near comparable numbers of foes and allies (a major exception being the elite vs brute battles in halo 2, I was amazed to not see battles of that quality in halo 3).
I would love to see reach feature either non-conclusive battles (situations where you can complete the mission while fighting is still raging on simply because it would be unrealistic to kill that many foes) or possibly see level boundaries less defined by geological features (the traditional valley with some troops boxed in that you have to fight) and more open fields/ areas that won't let you exit because going too far in one direction will hit you with a well scripted covenant air strike, or a convoy of scorpions is engaging wraiths and you being stuck on foot makes it impossible to pass that terrain (you would be whittled down with enemy rounds/ your allied tanks exploding).
There are so many ways Bungie could make big battles like this work for campaign. it would be such a shame to not see at least detailed distant battles involving swarms (hundreds/ thousands) of covies pushing through battered human lines.
