Look at the front of the box of you halo odst box and on the reach beta sticker it says

-Xbox 360 hard drive
-Xbox live gold membership
-Required-

I think bungie might make people have to pay for halo reach which would totally suck, but i think this because of the following glitch thread

Evidence

I love Halo. I like its sequels.

It will not be pay-to-play.

All you need is exactly what it says: A Hard Drive to store the Beta on, and a valid Xbox Live Gold Membership.

That's it. No hidden charges. Charging people to play beta software would seriously reduce the amount of people who play. I certainly wouldn't pay for beta software that i'd only be able to use for a few weeks when i've already paid for ODST and my Live subscription.

So basically, don't worry. You're not going to have to pay any extra money.

Unless the game itself is going to be MMO-ish. In which case, you will eventually be paying a membership fee, like Phantasy Star: Crap in Space.
