i really do not enjoy MLG games in halo, in my opinion we should straight up boycott MLG and never speak of them again.

So just because you don't enjoy it, it shouldn't exist?
I don't say remove social big team because I don't enjoy it...

I like halo, because you can play it the way you like it. If someone wants something super competitive he can play mlg, if someones want to do some racing stuff he can play rocket race. I do like that, and I don't think it's a bad thing. If you don't like MLG don't play it.

Bungie does care, MLG got it's own permanent playlist, no other halo community has that.

Grifball... Rocket Race... Infection... Team Swat... yup, guess MLG is the only community Bungie has ever listened to.

Maybe you should look up the definition of permanent, or lern to read. Griffball is Double exp WEEKEND, so is Infection.
While Swat and Rocket Race were created by bungie, not by a group of the halo community.

I read your post, rather, I ignored that part, because the permanence of the gametype doesn't really matter. Note the fact that although grifball is a part time playlist, it draws in more people than MLG could ever wish to muster.

Infection and Team Swat were both community creations that came from the Halo 2 era. Infection was known as zombies back then and to my knowledge was a honor rules version of slayer, and team swat was made using custom game options. Both got popular so Bungie turned them into playlists. Rocket Race also came from a community member if I remember, and Grifball obviously came from Rooster Teeth. The fact that they are permanent or not doesn't matter, they exist. The point remains, MLG isn't the only person who has imput about how Bungie makes their games. MLG only exists as a playlist because Team hardcore and Team Tactical both failed. They get absolutely no special treatment compared to anyone else. If the population of MLG dropped, Bungie would retire it too.

I think you also might be confused how things work. Bungie created the MLG gametype. Afterall, they created the game, and have the rights to anything made using the game. You see the message that says that every time you save a forge map. Bungie is nice enough to let an organization like MLG use their game to make a profit in their league. They are happy that someone would want to use their game in a professional setting.

But did Bungie remake lockout, chillout, and midship because of MLG? No. They remade them because the community wanted them and because they happened to fill gaps in the Halo 3 map line up. Don't you think that if MLG were the ones who comissioned blackout they would have complained about that one window thing that apparently makes the map fail?

Why invite players from MLG? Because those people are dedicated Halo players. They invite a ton of other people from their community too. Its not just MLG.

Do they listen to MLG? Sure. Just like they listen to everyone else. Just like how they are listening to us in the forum. But in the end Bungie does what they want. And guess what? Team Slayer gets a higher population than MLG. So guess which way they are going to swing?

Well I was talking about permanent from the beginning, so half your post doesn't matter since it answers something I never said.
Also I did said that Bungie will listen to the biggest part, being this forum, in the end.
All I'm saying is that everyone should be able to play halo the way they want to, and this is possible with more customisation.
Also I never said that Bungie made the remakes only because of MLG, I said that the map packs do appeal to mlg and what they want, which I think is a nice thing from bungie, just like the playlist.

And sorry for my english, not everyone comes from an english speaking country, you know.

The internet is a bad place.

I'd rather have all UB3R 7331 Pro's in one gametype then having to face them at the thing they practice day and night.

Don't play MLG, that's were most of your "UB3R Pro's" are, no bodie makes you play it.
And not everyone who likes the br or is "UB3R Pro" likes MLG or is part of the MLG community...
You can't blame people that are good at the game for being good...

Forgive me for snapping then, but if you are going to sling mud in that fashion, you better make sure that you leave nothing behind that can be attacked yourself.

The subject of the thread is "Should Halo: Reach be made to support MLG?"

The answer? Yes. But this doesn't entail MLG dictating how the game is made. I suppose that is what we are both trying to say, yes? In other words, Bungie is just going to make the games the same way they always have made then. Guess that makes this thread pointless now huh?

Halo 1>Halo 2>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>Halo 3

Want to hear a funny joke? Marijuana prohibition.

The game shouldnt be strictly made for MLG players, but there definitley should be custom game options that let MLG players have what they want. For example:

Options to tweak player control physics
A weapon just like Halo 1's pistol
Editable weapon traits through forge (damage, range, consistency, etc...)
Ability to turn off dual weilding
just to name a few...

I'm not sure what you want to tell me with the stuff at the beginning, but yes I do agree.
Bungie will continue to expand customisation and this will make it easier for MLG to change the game the way they want it to. And I can't see why this is a bad thing for anyone.
I do think op wants bungie to make a halo that appears more to the competitive community in general eg. more small maps, no vehicels etc.
I do think we can agree that this won't happen, since bungie will listen to this forum in the end, which is where most money comes from. I would do the same.
But they will allow everyone to customize halo the way they want to, which I think is a good thing.

Wow, that is a blatant logical fallacy if I ever saw one. By your logic, Mario Kart would be an MLG game.

Mario Kart could be an MLG game. I used to have Mario Kart DS that featured online play, and I would get crushed by "pros" at that game (it seemed like everyone was a pro at that game). What I meant was that all games can be taken as competitive games and have competitive natures to them. Name me one game that can't be turned into a competitive game (and from that, involvement from MLG). MLG may have tendencies that it leans towards, but expand its community enough and you will see it start to feature different competitive games to please its growing fan base.

The internet is a bad place.

Did i say i had a problem with the gamemode?I was approving it.

Sure,not all.But most do.
There are mostly 2 diffrent kinds of "pro" people.
Those who want to compete with other pro's,and those that just want to own noobs.

MLG had SMB melee. Brawl was to noobish for MLG. Sorry we won't pick up any old game.

Brawl was rushed and tried too much. First, it only came to being because that one Nintentdo guy at E3 said there was going to be an online capable smash brothers availible for the wii at launch when he meant to say "imagine the possibillity of an online multiplayer smash brothers, wouldn't that be cool?" So they decided to make the game and tried to rush to finish it a fast as possible. Which is why the game has many questionable additions.

<Cough> Tripping randomly </cough>

Here’s what Luke had to say about the differences in treatment between the Spartans and Elites in Reach:

“Instead of piece-by-piece customization like the Spartans, Elite customization is a full model swap with models selected from the various Elite classes appearing throughout the Campaign. There are all kinds of reasons for this, not the least of which is our continued emphasis on the Spartan as your identity in Reach.”

Let's clarify something, no game is made for MLG, period. MLG takes games and changes available gametypes and options to conform to their playstyle.

Will Reach have a MLG playlist? Most assuredly, and I see no problem with this. But will the game be developed with consideration to MLG wants and needs? I highly doubt it, MLG is still a minority in the gaming world.

Yeah, and MLG can go F*** itself because it really gets rid of the recreation aspect of gaming!

Not so much MLG as much as some of it's members. MLG is poorly represented on these boards by several members who often harp on skill level and it's relation to being right. Thankfully this is not the opinion of MLG as a group, at least not openly.

I don't mind a community that likes to be hyper-competitive, but when people start showing up and acting like everyone who does not conform to it are worthless, then there is a problem.
And even if MLG overall was the paragon of online groups, a game shouldn't be made just to cater to them. Imagine a game built for the HLG.

What I will support is the inclusion of a tremendous amount of Custom game options, that can be saved and used in Matchmaking. That way, MLG can pick what they want, Bungie has their normal settings, and other groups can build there own presets.

Um tecnically MLGpro forums are bigger than B.net forums. I posted a year old poll from the voting booth and we doubled the year old polls votes in a week.

I think by forum he means the casual community versus the competitive community. Bungie will always listen to the casual community (or make casual friendly games) over the competitive one simply because pleasing the casual community will bring in more money. I'm not saying they never listen to the MLG community, just that if Bungie had to make a choice between these two communities, we all know who they will choose.

Corn, Oil, and Wine... We need more wine...

No.

They have Halo 3, let them keep it... Split the population up with the two games...

MLG- Halo 3
Everyone else- REACH

Perfect, gets rid of the wars and hate. Just split em' up.

My problems [with Reach] are basically just full parties, mlg, and people who go out of their way not to get killed.

In case anyone has not noticed, MLG ruins communities. I would like it to stay away but Bungie has a hardcore community to cater to.
