Subject: *Melee Lunge: Stay or Go?*

Here’s what Luke had to say about the differences in treatment between the Spartans and Elites in Reach:

“Instead of piece-by-piece customization like the Spartans, Elite customization is a full model swap with models selected from the various Elite classes appearing throughout the Campaign. There are all kinds of reasons for this, not the least of which is our continued emphasis on the Spartan as your identity in Reach.”

Keep it. It is a byproduct of the different hosting system.

ODST has the halo campaign model, which works in one way. Matchmaking works in another way, and the lunges are the exact same distance. But when someone lunges further than they should, that is on your end.

"Go then, there are other worlds than these."

I say take it out altogether. Melee kills are overly abused in matches. Melee kills without the lunge would actually take a bit of skill and/or luck to achieve.

I completely agree. In any sort of mid-moving to close-rang battle what do you see? People shooting while walking closer to the enemy to do what? DESPERATELY try to finish their kill with a melee. However, if they just miss and melee the air 5 times if one of the other players is smart enough to stay back, then they look like fools because they're been so babied by the melee lunge.

Taking away the lunge would still keep the 3 "golden" things about Halo: Weapons, Grenades and Melees. Come on now...

Lunge means Lag doesn't enter the equation so much.

I think Reach should include a shorter lunge and only on the ground, not in the air- Spartans can do alot of things but Flying is not one of them.

I also think that instead of just a punch, they should include a knife option aswell, which instantly kills your enemy. The knife should be used like equipment in Halo 3 (but permanent for the level), where you pick it up (of your own accord) and can use it by pressing "X" near an enemy. So you can either Melee or Knife.

How can a knife have limited use?

Ah, I didn't realise this.
But it should be like something you find and then can use for the rest of the level, and in the next you have to find it again.
