Has anyone noted that when you first find "the cop" in data hive the SI says "hitchhikers may be escaped convicts" ? "Hitchhiker" the cop follows you, "convict" may try to kill you.

This is my first post and I remember before I signed up this thread was like where you guys were looking for the sword. It seems like your not anymore. How come?? I'd like to know.

  • 05.02.2010 5:03 PM PDT

Been playing since pong, and you?

Because there are no swords in ODST. Just sword hilts.

S.7d Engineer Tracking
Engineer tracking is similar to bird tracking. You will monitor their habits, whatever they be... You will also make attempts at interacting with them, what makes them nice and what makes them suicide and what simply doesn't do anything at all. It at times could be boring, it depends if you are into it or not. This can be done if you simply come across them or if it interests you.

From my interactions, Engineers never suicide. They do have an explosive device attached to them that will begin beeping and eventually detonate when:
a) their squad-leader Brute is killed; or
b) their shields are down and they are injured (but not injured enough to die)

I have not found them to behave in any other ways with the exception of the Engineer Virgil who does not appear to have an explosive device attached to him.

i know you posted a long long time ago but just in case you don't know yet look at the audio logs and you'll see that the engineers sacrificed themselves to get the bombs off virgil.

elite body glyph

Interesting, it would appear there are Covenant alphabet letters, but they vary in certain ways... I'm, at the moment, trying to decipher it.

I've had no luck at deciphering it, and could not find any inclination as to what the meaning of that specific Glyph is... I didn't find any record of it being on an Elite prior to this one though...

From what I could decipher, it would seem that the letters top to bottom begin with an A, and end with a Y, the third letter possibly being an N... The Second doesn't seem to be in the alphabet from what I can see.

Perhaps the small glyphs are a bunch of encrypted coordinates to a shield world (Onyx?) and the big Y shaped glyph is a forerunner keyship. I have seen some of these symbols on a Halo: Combat Evolved elite of the exact same rank, also dead when I got there. I will try to link the two. Is there anything in new mombasa that starts with the same letter as the small glyphs (covenant alphabet)? If so, perhaps you need to visit them in that order (left to right or right to left) to unlock something. I will see if the halo 2, 3, and Reach Beta elite glyphs are also linked to these.

Care for a scone?

There is also a dead elite of the same rank in the halo 3 level floodgate. I will go check to see if it has any glyphs.

I am you Super Phun Thyme!

Dude, and y'all

Haven't you guys ever considered the option that there might be no "Super mega secret" in Halo ODST?
Considering we couldn't even find out how to get the last of the skulls in Halo 3, do you think we have a chance here without the help from Bungie employees?

I'd love the idea of the glyph having some sort of meaning, but what if there is no secret?

  • 06.08.2010 11:37 AM PDT

Been playing since pong, and you?

Of which seceret skull do you speak? I know where the 14th skull is. Is there a 15th? How do you know?

Oops scratch that I meant the 13th and 14th skulls.

"Freedom is the freedom to say that two plus two make four. If that is granted, all else follows." 1984, Orwell

Don't know if this has been brought up already, but though I have found all 30 aupdiophiles, the Superintendent still shows me way point signs to follow (ex, "KEEP LEFT" or "DETOUR") at Tayaria Plaza.

I have followed them correctly, but the last place that it points to, (without going in a circle) is the door exiting the glyph site, with two signs pointing back outside.

Also, the car sirens are still flashing near the drop pod sight that you pop out of. Aren't they supposed to signify an audiophile nearby? But I got them all already...

Perhaps Virgil is pointing something else out? Don't know what though...

I noticed the same thing today. I wonder what it means.

i dont know if this was found or not,but i found a stone henge like thing. it has two floating covenant things with oversheilds. there are 6 huge pillars, and 2 dead elites?

  • 06.28.2010 1:41 PM PDT

The flashing lights by the drop pod always happen, even if you have all of the audio logs.

I may have found some explanation to the Y symbols here
If you look under the scientific analysis section you will see it describes the 3 lagrange points where in the soloar system that the halos are, sattelites orbiting the star would have an unstable gravity. These points form a Y shape.

--Jun's sniper bent into a crown for my helmet. --Jorge's torso armor with one of Emile's skulls carved into it. --Both Security shoulders, with a knife on each one. --Kneeguards made from the helmets of Grunt leaders. --Two UA/Bracers. --Six Tactical/Softcases.
--And a Moa pelt, worn like a cape.

I think it's possible that that's just a reference to the ending of Halo:CE.

As for the Glyph search, I'd be more than happy to help search the city with anyone who's still looking.

with the exception of the Engineer Virgil who does not appear to have an explosive device attached to him.

the reason that vergil has no explosive is because, in one of the 30 hidden transmissions (sorry i cant remember their real name) between the woman (sorry forgot her name too) and her father (his name i forgot too - he is also the guy who maintains city's AI) says that he can see about 5 engineers all surrounding 1 (vergil) and then there is an explosion, he then says that the one in the middle is still alive.

he then goes on to state that the others sacrificed themselves to free vergil.

harris dude.

you really need to listen to the audio transmissions. sadie and the cop were trying to stop the other guy who as you may not have noticed called the cop "branley". the bad guy whom eventually sadie and branley kill says to sadie, at an earlier event when he makes her board a train, says that he already killed her father. the fire systems to protect the SI are pure argon which freezes everything therefore even sadies father.

i ahve a question. On the map with the already discovered points what do brown dots represent?

  • 07.01.2010 1:17 PM PDT

A excess of firepower can be used to solve any social, economic, or military situation. Also, Wraiths rule!

Perhaps they flee from snipers because Mickey shot one of them in that first cutscene with Buck and the drop pod.

  • 07.01.2010 2:51 PM PDT

I noticed that the engineers self destruct when the brutes are dead and you get to close.

Hummm....I remember some fo these glyphs from "The Flood" level, in Halo: CE. They were in some walls, and above a couple doors. Maby they are Forerunner glyphs? Maby the flood conatinment facility was builded by engeneers used by the Covenant?
