"Nothing is True, Everything is Permited."

I just went to the secret area in District 8, and noticed a few weird things. I was just looking at the trash to see if there were any easter eggs exclusive to that area. There weren't any eggs, but I did get ambushed by a squad of brutes. I thought that was kind of weird because I didn't do anything to draw their attention.

Since the brutes caught me off guard I had no health, so I left the area to find some. When I found where one of the medical kiosks should be it wasn't there. The only thing that remained was the screen that had the Optican name and logo.

My conclusion is that going back to the BELIEVE mark on the wall right above the elites messes up the whole map. There may be more secrets/glitches that are caused by this

Also, instead of calling it "the secret area in sector 8" we should call it "Sinoviet courtyard" scince its directly under a building labled Sinoviet.

ok i'm just throwing out wild ideas now:

What if... the Three stonehengerooms are formed like a "Y", with to room on top, and one at the bottom, just like a "Y", and we mark this on a map...

Then, as a "Y" has a middle spot, where the three lines meets, THERE'S THE TREASURE?

If anybody understands what i am trying to say.. if not, i'll try my best to explain better.

But hey.. its a theory

Sorry for the long post, I swear it just looks long.

Hey guys, sorry I haven't been on. What with the Thanksgiving weekend you see a lot of people you haven't seen and it can take up time... Anyway on to the nitty gritty!

Posted by: Omegus Weapon
Anyway, when I was looking around one of the "stonehenge" courtyard areas, I stood in the middle of the stonehenge and some mysterious drumming music began playing.

Not the city at night music, or the intense Chieftain drumming, just a lower tone of it.

There were also two Engineers that I had previously ignored, now circling me while I'm standing in the middle.

I'll let you know if I find out anything else.
=]

Interesting, this definitely raises some more interest in these areas. Perhaps if more people could confirm this happening it could become some solid evidence to put in the Stonehenge section that irregular things occur. Good job!

Same, Also When I was there It appeared that the engineers can Identify weapons, I find that weird, as they don't see combat often. For example, I pointed my pistol at them, nothing happened, Sniper, they started to run away.

This is also interesting and points in the direction of snipers having some sort of significance. It has also been noted that full beam rifles have been found around these "dig site lamps" indicating that maybe Engineers+Lamps+Snipers=Something to be found, what it is, that will take a bit more time to find out...

Posted by: ExtremeYoshiFan
This thread should have a link to videos with guides to help explain how to get out of regular city areas To help explore(as not every area can be bumped and I don't completely understand what causes it and how to do it)

Good idea, I'll work on that and a few other updates ASAP... Watch the Resources section for tutorial videos!

I was exploring the city the other day and noticed something that might be of interest.

Remember that section with the glyphs and dead elites and "Believe" written on the wall? Well, in sector 3 (i think im not to sure) i found a door which has "believe" written on it as well. I just thought that maybe they correlate somehow.

Definitely of interest, if someone can confirm the existance or you yourself can get some pictures of the door that would be great! It would help people to find any correlations and it will add to the points of interest map.

Also so I have a little theory here.

OK so people have been saying that theyve stood in the middle of the stonehenges and music goes and the engineers circle around you. Well if that is true then read on.

I think that if you visit these places in a certain order thats why it happens, and if visited in the right order you can get to the Sector 2 place or something else

Ideas. . .?

It's definitely possible that there has to be some sort of order when visiting these. Maybe they each play a passage in a song and you have to properly link them together. If anyone can get a recording or clip of this song it would help the more musical people to maybe find an answer to what is being played.

on a somewhat acedemic note, ive noticed that the glyphs do not entirely disappear when visr is turned off, but are luminous when activated. this means that while they are 'real' glyphs (i.e. if they were totally nonpresent when visr was turned off, one could argue that they are not really there, but being projected into your software by superindendent or engineers or something) they have some interactive component. since ODST visrs bring them out, they were meant for YOU to find. they are a message to YOU specifically as opposed to something you find that is meant for someone else

i may be totally wrong here though. maybe SI or engineers are accenting them even though they werent originally meant for you

or maybe some property of the material they were drawn with makes them luminous in visr. idk.

That is a different thought. Bungie has stated that they are made by the Engineers to depict stories... If that is true, and we follow this theory as true, then why would the Engineers want to tell us of such a story? As more and more ideas come out it seems that more and more is hidden then appears. Nice idea!

Interesting, you may have stumbled on to something here. Did you try watching the video to try and see where the Brutes came from? Would the health packs also normally have been there? If so you could try watching the video to see when it disappeared to try and rule out what did and didn't cause it.

I vote yes to renaming it to Sinoviet Courtyard as well.

Potentially this is possible, but of the three Stonehege rooms it forms more of a lower case "Y" with the line between two being intersected by a line from the third sort of like this: "\|"

It could also make a simple "L"... One thing I thought that was interesting is that when alinging all the Stonehenge rooms, including the supposed to be existing fourth, they create an X that intersects on the only X on the map. Which is the dead center. Whether it has any point I don't know, I also haven't yet looked at whether these stonehenge rooms align anything else up. Just thinking publicly now...

So at this point I'm pretty sure the "secret door" is just a glitch. If you have every weapon cache unlocked it's made obvious that there are weapon caches which remain locked (they look exactly the same but are not marked on the map and won't open). I realized after looking at the glyphs and wandering around in the secret door courtyard that most of those weapon caches which remained locked before were now open, but while it was the exact same size and shape as the real weapon caches it was completely empty inside.

There were still a few that weren't marked on the map that remained close though, so there might be something inside of those with a way to unlock it while the others just opened through a glitch caused by looking at the glyphs.

tldr; All evidence points to the secret door being just a glitch because other things which have nothing in them are opened by looking at the same glyphs.

sorry about this, I had a glitch I guess that wouldn't let me in. After you do a mission, it doesn't let you in. Interesting. It wouldn't let me in anywhere next to the starting area. That means that there was something that was going on in there after the last mission that I did. Any suggestion?

Wattup?

What if, and this is just an IF, the "Stonehenges" are just tombstones of the 6 engineers that took the bomb off of VRGL?
It would explain why there is a SI sad face sybol. That just a theory

I've had no luck at deciphering it, and could not find any inclination as to what the meaning of that specific Glyph is... I didn't find any record of it being on an Elite prior to this one though...

From what I could decipher, it would seem that the letters top to bottom begin with an A, and end with a Y, the third letter possibly being an N... The Second doesn't seem to be in the alphabet from what I can see.

Hey man, I just saw your post in our thread, and I wanted to stop by and say GREAT job in getting everything together. My life is just too hectic lately to spend too much time compiling all of this. I recently heard about something unlocking when a certain score is reached on New Mombasa Streets, and I'm going to research that this afternoon. I'll post here and in the other thread if I find anything.

  • 10.13.2009 10:45 AM PDT

I just posted this in another topic, but from what I've read, this TS is smart at figuring things out...

Ok, so I may have just found something, I'm not sure.
It may have already been found before, but maybe not.

I found something interesting in to the plaza where you find Dare's pod (but obviously when you're playing as the rookie
). (There is also another plaza identical to this one and it has the same thing I found.) It has already been discovered that there is a special glyph (Y form with SI glyphs in each sector) that can be found in both these places and that it changes when you leave. Well, on the other side of the plaza (towards where Dare's pod is) underneath the building you can find a door that is similar to the door that the special SI glyph is on. In the lower right corner of that door there is a red button that says "ACCESS".

I punched the button, shot the button, and blew up the button, but nothing seemed to happen. Nearby there are some Spike Grenades. I have no idea if they have anything to do with it or not. On the map, right behind the door (if you're in the twin plaza, not Dare's) is one of the locked areas that you can't get to.

Like I said, I have no idea if this has been found or not. If it has then I just wasted 10 minutes typing this, but whatever.

Yeah, no worries, I thought I'd do it for you since at the time you seemed inactive. I've been watching both threads but unfortunately there haven't be any huge leads, but I'm still convinced that there is something to be found! Good luck on your findings, I hope they bring something to the table!

Interesting, could you get some screenshots? Preferably a NavMap screenshot with a beacon on the location, and 2 different views of it, one right up close, and one further away. Helps people figure out what they are looking for. Good job!

  • 10.13.2009 1:50 PM PDT

Unfortunatly, I can't because I don't have Live, but I'll try to explain the area a bit better.

One of the locations is in the area where you start Buck's first mission. It is also where the firefight level "Crater" takes place. If you can find that one, you can look at your map and find another area that looks identical (It's also almost right next to it).

Once you get there, you'll be at the top of some stairs. To see the super SI glyph go down the stairs and turn around and go under the stairs. To see the "ACCESS" button go down the stairs and continue forward until you are under the stairs on the opposite side. Both the super SI glyph and the button are on the center section of their corrosponding back walls. The 2 plazas are identical in formation and both have the SI glyph and the button.

I don't know if that helped or not...
