Subject: Halo Reach should put a variety of weapons and fix physics

Before you flame please listen to what i have to say.

I think halo reaches weapons which are futuristic should have some qualities of real life weapons take for example the shotgun in halo 3 its a spread range shot gun with the range of a black powder Bunderbuss which has a low amount of accuracy and all you do with it is fire it and hope to hit because of the ammunition it fires. It spreads out in so many directions making it useless. Now if we have a shotgun in the halo games that shoots a couple meters and the year is around 2556 (I may not be correct on the years oh halo) when we have a 200 meter range fully automatic shotgun in 2009 called the AA12which is far more advance the the shotgun in halo 3.

The only thing im trying to say if Bungie is going to make a futuristic game they need to upgrade in technology not downngrade

Because Muslims surgically implant organic bombs in their testicles, which in turn will be injected into women during sex, which will grow into BABY BOMBS!

The short range balances out its power.

True but does it have to be pump action? Why not full auto?

Because then it's even more overpowered. Imagine how easy it would be to get kills with full auto at close range?

Except that it's a game so it doesn't have to.
It spreads out in so many directions making it useless.
...maybe you shoult try using it at close range.

200 meters is a VERY long way off for a shotgun. I'm pretty sure you can't kill a bird (which i'm fairly sure doesn't have shields OR MJOLNIR to protect it) from more than about 30 yards tops.
I don't know about buck shot or slugs or the possibilities of special grenade type rounds (they exist) but it appears to me that the halo shotgun uses something a little larger than normal steel shot but smaller than buck. So the lethal range on a shielded and armored opponent i can imagine being...not very far.
I think they got it about right.

I understand your desire for realism...but that's not what it's about (although imo they got it pretty much right). The point is to be able to have fun.
If they introduced something as effective in Halo as the AA12 is today it would totally dominate everything ever always.

I can immagine it's level of effectiveness falling somewhere between 'annoyingly overpowered' and 'tear-streaked sadness about how utterly broken the game has become'

So, while i appreciate your dedication to realism
just be open the the game developing side of it.
That would be a quick way to ruin a game.

1. Buck shot loses kinetic energy very rapidly. a shot gun blast at 40m is devastating to humans however it would just bounce off shields and armor at that range

2. it fires an 8 gauge magnum which would not bee size practical in gas operated weapon

3. you are right about the spread of the shot, but that dose not make it any less fun. i would like to see the spread much tighter. but i still think you should be at pissing distance for it to kill Spartans, Elites and Brutes.

The spread of the shot needs to be tighter in i do agree with that. But its range is definitely a problem
