Subject: What Reach campaign size would please you?

I think most here are expecting the epic Reach battle taking place in the same time period and so to Bungie

I personally wouldn't want a split, at least not from this game

odst was a nice foray in to open world game play, I would like to see reach go further with that

  • 10.10.2009 1:45 PM PDT

Yeah i can certainly understand that

I guess i liked how desperate the library felt but also how the scale seemed heightened because of the endless corridors.I think it's glorious a level because of it's cut and paste approach and how this lends itself to isolation

I also think it's a very tense enjoyable level once you crank it up to Legendary and attempt to play through without dieing, but your point is echoed with many iv'e talked to

I would like around 7 levels, each about 20mins-30mins long, without open world in the middle, that put me off ODST. Less singleplayer would mean more multiplayer, and an improvement on Firefight would be nice, because Reach seems like the perfect setting for something like that.

I'm probably in a minority when i say i liked the Cortana and Library missions but they're actually very well done and an interesting departure

Well the real problem with the library is its the same set of hallways repeated over and over, making it very easy to get turned around and start back tracking.

Those that like their MP more are more in favour of a shorter campaign it seems

I guess then this question is really for those that love their campaign as i'm sure Bungie would rather cater for their wishes more

I feel that if i were to ask anything from bungie it's not that i want the campaign to be long, more i want each lvl to be uniquely different and refined. Just because a campaign is long does not make it fun, some prime examples are Crow's Nest and the last lvl of halo 1, their both long but its just a drag to repeat. Also i wish that Bungie would man up and change their game engine, take an extra year or 2 and change it up, for example the DLC The Pitt for Fallout 3, i felt like they churned that one out in a month. So my request to bungie is make some fun, unique, and polished lvl's for any halo games in the making, i thk you not only would please the existing fans but all lovers of the FPS genre. (BTW make firefight mode for ODST online, PLEASE)

Yes that can and does happen

I don't think Bungie would ever make a level this way anyway these days but then wasn't Cortana similarly confusing at times?

Someone get the ghost. I call warthog driver. We need someone to get the laser before the other team does. I need a gunner. . . . . No wait- . . . . I NEED A GUNNER . . . . oh . . never mind. I'll just splatter people. <"SPLATTER SPREE">

I love long levels. But not too long. Tsavo Highway needed to be longer.

I think Bungie should put the multiplayer on one disc and the campaign on another. That way we can have more campaign and better multiplayer

Hmm Tsavo Highway is my most played of all the Halo3 missions but it is so damn short.Superb level but Bungie seemed to think we would enjoy it being cut so abrubtly

Same i thought for the Mongoose encounter just before the first Scarab - this part was insanely fun what with both Choppers and your own troops all going at it, but then it just ended so suddendly. It would have at least been nice to replay this checkpoint using the level select but that takes you directly to the when the Scarab arrives

I sure hope this isn't Bungie's way with all it's glorious encounters we shall be facing in Reach

Longer, definitely. If you keep the missions longer then they can get the message of the games across more. The reason why I find that Halo 1's campaign so good was due to the length. You were alone, and that got the message of how alone you are in the battles.

Halo 2 and 3 didn't do it for me because it didn't seem like the truly hopeless war it really was.

Thinking back on it, I think that Halo 1 was done more professionally than Halo 2 + 3 (Story-wise, that is)
