July 15, 2008... The day the timer stood still.

This was in the last update.

Querying assets [local to asserted origin]: activity level at point of origin [ref-G617]

Current activity level at G617: NIL

Additional query: Time since last recorded activity at G617

Time since last recorded activity at G617: 879 211 021 hours 14 minutes 32 seconds

Probability transmission originated at asserted point of origin [ref-G617]: NIL

Transmission tagged and shelved [ref-anomalous/sub/falsified]

879,211,021 hours is over 100,000 years (about 100,366 years). So perhaps they're hinting at something that happened that long ago.

Also, the end of the update said "stay tuned." Something that subtle has often ment that a big(ish) update is coming soon.

I'd love to be a 10 year old and tell my mom I'm going on an adventure out into the world catching Pokemon, with her full support. Never mind the fact that there are rapists, criminals, and murders out there, or the fact that I may get killed by a Pokemon.

Luckily I have Pikachu.

It could be, Bungie did say that sometime soon we will get some Halo: Reach information, just not as soon as would like.

Bungie say 'stay tuned' at the end of every update, don't they?

G617 is the name of the planet that the Forerunners found the Flood.
This shouldn't be Reach info.
What else could it be about? Perhaps the game is not going to be modeled directly off of the book.

What if G617 is a designation for Reach? Gasp?

This triggered my memory, thanks. I just remembered that the next halo book is going to be about the forerunners, read it somewhere... just can't remember what it is called. My geuss is that this isn't about Reach, rather that book.

Might be a refrence from the new Forerunner series?

Darn it, you beat me to it.

Check out the group, Planet Reach and talk about Bungie's next game without the annoyance of the public forum. Oh and it's nice there too.

You thought you had lag, it took Jesus 3 days to re-spawn.

I figured it was some fake news submission. No excitement out of me yet.

I don't see it being the book, if it is something. Why would they be doing thins for a book that will be released sometime next year. We don't even know when it'll be released. It wont be the announcement of the books either, that's already been done.

Life is contradictory and ambiguous but it also isn't.

Yeah, that's what makes me think it's nothing.

G617 is where the Forerunner first encountered the Flood. So I think it was more a reference to "Halo 4" (the Legendary planet is probably G617), wether that be in novel, game, or some other form. Not Halo: REACH.

ok mr smaertypants whats that. stop trying to over simplicate things. its simple. g617 is probebly the covanont code for the master cheaf. and they see him coming from the past. like a million years or however many that much hourse in the transmissian adds to. so he goes to the past in end of halo 3 cuz u know that always happens if a portal collapse. its common since. so he goes from future to way in the past and then get closer to the future kinda like hyperspeed in star wars. and he stops soon becuz the covanont sense "g617" aka the master cheag, aka the deman!, approaching from the past. they use antigravety to stop him and keep him in his time to pravent him from making it back to his own time to reach earth again. so anywhay where did they stop him? simple. reach. u see the halo 3 ending and it looks eaxactly like reach. i mean theyre both spinning kinda and also have a sun behind it which glows. THEY BOTH GLOW i mean that has 2 mean something bungie doesnt make stuff glow for nuthin.

anyway to summerate, master cheaf is G617 and he travel back into past and end up on reach and he saves the 300 spartains. and plz dont say read the book becuz this is a new alternet universe and pus bungie said the books are fake and stupid. so there.

i have 2 add 1 thing regarding time travel. after he save the 300 spartens there are 301 bcuz there are 2 cheafs. theres only room for 1 cheaf so unfortunately i think our master cheaf is going to figh thtee ultimate boss MASTER CHEAF what. yeah, master cheaf vs master cheaf. this is cool becuz boss fights are COOl.

anyway, yeah. I think that G617 is the Forerunner homeworld, and Bungie is just hinting toward something which will involve this planet (don't see how it could fit into the Reach plot).

  • 10.09.2009 10:30 PM PDT

My bet is its the beginning of an ARG made for reach. This is very similar to how they started the one for ODST.

RIP Halo 2: November 9, 2004-May 10, 2010
I was the 2nd to last person to get kicked off Halo 2, see the thread Here

That could be when the covenant first started looking for Earth to find whatever they were looking for, but it took them that long to find it.? I'm not sure what else could have happened.

343 already has said they will have a halo 4 in about six years. Halo Reach planet does not equal halo 3 planet. http://www.gamespot.com/news/6232469.html?om_act=convert& om_clk=newstop&tag=newstop;title;9

I do not appreciate B.Net Group solicitation. If you ignore this and send me an invitation anyway, I will block communications with you.

The whole thing was a joke to show that the news submission was nothing more than the unreliable musings of a fan. The querying even matches up.

Read through it again and you'll see that the whole thing is simply a series of debunkings to any relevance whatsoever. It's nothing more than a "clever" response in their news submissions section of the BWU.
