I'm tired of the "cartoon effect" that has dominated Halo ever since Halo 2 came out. This game is rated M for mature. Yet Bungie leans to the T rating for the little 10 year olds. I can't believe all the lame dialogue in ODST. 'Holy Crap! etc. And not to mention 95% of dialogue was just copied from H3. The visual effects are way to colorful and bright. The weapons sound weak and toy like, perfect example = AR.

If this is the state of my art, then I secede.

Why is this thread here, and can you summarize your argument? I got lost in all of the -blam!-ing and moaning.

My problems [with Reach] are basically just full parties, mlg, and people who go out of their way not to get killed.

I am not sure if there is any other way to put this but... I think you should leave.

I'd love to be a 10 year old and tell my mom I'm going on an adventure out into the world catching Pokemon, with her full support. Never mind the fact that there are rapists, criminals, and murders out there, or the fact that I may get killed by a Pokemon.

Luckily I have Pikachu.

Halo 1 was only rated M due to 9/11.

I'm the cult of personality,
I call it like i see it, if i feel the need to be blunt and to the point, then i will, if i feel the need to be very detailed, i will, im here to stay and im here to do things my way, if you respect that or not is your choice, not mine,
and don't worry, while i don't agree with everyone's opinion, i do respect everyone's opinion.

This established style if here to stay, I'd wager.

Part of Halo's appeal if that it's a nice break from gaming's current obsession with, and to quote the great Yahtzee, 'gun-metal grey and dog-blam!- brown.'

oh death was never enemy of ours

riveting tale chap

if you dont like it, do something else. seems like a rather simple solution to me

Confound these ponies, they drive me to insomnia.

Also, Applejack ftw.

Okay. So you basically just asked Bungie to make Reach a GoW copy? If you think "Holy Crap!" Is too light, then obviously you want, "ARGH. DAMN." Every time you reload a fresking gun the wrong way.

Here’s what Luke had to say about the differences in treatment between the Spartans and Elites in Reach:

“Instead of piece-by-piece customization like the Spartans, Elite customization is a full model swap with models selected from the various Elite classes appearing throughout the Campaign. There are all kinds of reasons for this, not the least of which is our continued emphasis on the Spartan as your identity in Reach.”

So just use different shades of brown?

  • 10.09.2009 9:04 PM PDT

"The next time you see me, I'll be stabbing you to death! Okay?"

So you can only enjoy a game if you're watcing fellow human beings die? That's kinda morbid.

R.I.P. Halo 2
11/9/04 - 4/15/10

I love the vibrant colors and dynamic lighting, they need to keep that. But as for sound effects, those need some help. The sniper is a 14.5 mm, I'm pretty sure it would be very loud, now make it loud.

How to spell "space"?

S-P-ACE! SPACE!

I think it's a 12.7mm...

But the marines need fouler language, we don't want to hear "Ow" all the time, we need "-blam!-, that hurts!"

Life is contradictory and ambiguous but it also isn't.

I disagree about the effects and dialog, but I have to admit, half the enemies in Halo are almost Pokemon. I would prefer if they could find a way to make the grunts and jackals a little less hilarious. I know they tried to make them more intimidating in Halo 3, but i guess there's only so much you can do to make a purple asthmatic midget scary.

Check out the group, Planet Reach and talk about Bungie's next game without the annoyance of the public forum. Oh and it's nice there too.

You thought you had lag, it took Jesus 3 days to re-spawn.

Why are gamers today afraid of anything with color? All they want is dull gray and black. Gray and black don't equal realistic. I would like Reach to be a little darker and foreboding. Humanity's largest military stronghold is being destroyed after all.

Dude, seriously? Cartoony(that's not even the right word) type of gameplay is what makes Halo Halo. If it wasn't cartoony, it wouldn't be Halo. It's be futuristic CoD. They are two different games. Want realism, go play a different game.

even though you're getting bashed pretty hard, i'm gonna have to agree with you. Don't get me wrong the art in halo 2 and halo 3 was great, but it's so much different than what the books depict. The books talk about how the covenant are totally ruthless, i.e. ripping people apart and torturing them and halo seems to be...lighter than it should be.

So do cuss words sell games? Seems like kinda low on the list of things to change for Halo: Reach if I was in Bungie's shoes.

Anyways in Halo: Reach days in the Halo dimension Spartans rarely ever fought along side marines, but thier Spartan comrades. So I would be surprised to see much marines. The reason is the Spartans are basically too good and too fast in battle for the marines. They wouldn't be able to keep up and squad tactics would be thrown out the door.

Chief vs the scarab? I find that hard to believe to roundhouse boot the scarab's figurative emotion out of the gaming zone.

Sorry, but I don't want Halo to turn into, well, not-Halo. You know?

This part would be great. If it's going to be rated M, it may as well have a reason. I just can't stand the complaints about color = kiddie. I've never understood that.

wow its sad that adding foul language makes a game more compelling.

sadly its viciousness circle it only seems real life becuase people say but they only say it because it was first shown to them threw media.

wwII people mainly cried to there mom and actually combat you can't hear anything. So only time some say blam is on impact but that if it is minor because most time they state shock if its really big or dont even notice becuase of adrenalin running.

I am not disproving you, but actually some green soldiers laugh uncontrollably when they first make contact with the enemy. The veterens will let them do their thing and then continue on. Soldiers don't know why it happens but, it just does.

Can anyone else confirm this? I saw it on the Military channel once they were showing war clips.
