It's always been a goal of mine to work for a gaming company, and especially Bungie in particular. To that end I've focused on excelling C/C++ and taking personal time to become very comfortable wtih Windows API such as OpenGL and DirectX (by making games with them, of course). Also, I've been making maps with map editors, and creating meshes in 3dStudio Max to familarize myslef with all sides of game creation (man! uvw mapping is a _PAIN_).
I'd apply in a second for one, or more of those job opennings, but I currently have but two years completed of my 4 year degree for a Bachelor's of Science in Engineering, Computer Software, and naturally, I must finish what I start.
Hmm, looking at the job page though, I see that none of the positions require a University Degree... Would Bungie consider hiring a programmer without a Univeristy Degree? (I hope this question makes it on the Weekly What's Update, I really want to know...).
I'm in almost the same boat as you. My computer specialty is less general then yours though. I have a tendency to get into EVERY aspect of video game creation, from concept "art", level design, texture design, music, sound fx, programming, quest design, and website design, to advertise the darn thing.
I have almost always been a 1 man show. (Aka, live in farm town...) so my computer skills have been born out of necessity, to fill the craving I have to build my own universes...
My strengths seem to be in multiplayer level design (I've done a ton of work in the unreal engine), and website design (lost count of the sites).
I'm going to update my resume webpage and send it off to bungie... too bad I'm starting college in the fall for at least the next 2 years..... Hey! Any summer positions Bungie??
