Enjor the second section of this story. After this, Part 3 will take about a day to come out. I have also used a Fan-made vehicle in this part; it is from a different FanFic (MLG Cheehwawa's "Halo Reach Script"). This is not intended as plaigarism, more as a way of making FanFics tie in with others, almost as if making an extended Fan-made story.
Part 2
[Approx. 2.759 hours after previous event.] Planet "B84t"
Daeon peered his head round the corner, checking for any resistance. No Virus Beings. He led Eanan and Theron round the corner, as they tactically weaved around objects. With their sleek, grey armour, even at 2.1 metres tall, they were difficult to see among the rubble.
They were on the surface of B84t (or Tangent 7, as they often reffered to it as) and the destruction caused by the Virus was, as usual, terrible. Enormous buildings layed crushed, and corpses of Forerunner military, civilian and infected all layed lifeless along the speedway. Several of the fusion-powered cars were in ruins, and the road's strong surface was crumbled.
"There's some Mounts over there, look!" exclaimed Daeon, pointing to some smooth white hoverbikes. "I hope the Pulse Cannons are still running Intellegence says that we could expect light resistance on our way to the Outpost."
"The Outpost? I thought you said we were just going to try get off this planet!" retorted Theron.
"I want to escape too, Theron. But we need to retrieve an artifcat that Command wants."
The three Forerunners continued up the wide, meandering speedway, approaching the Mounts. As they got on, blue lights appeared all over the white surface of the Mounts.
"Brilliant news, everyone. The Comms systems, the Weaponry and the Short-Term Flight systems are all online on my Mount." said Daeon.
"Mine too. How about you Theron?" said Eanan.
"Bad news. Mine's taken some heavy damage. Would only attain 50% speed."
"Right Theron, you're going to have to take the rear gunner seat of mine." said Daeon.
"Understood...I've always liked using the Beam Turret anyway!"
Theron sat into the rear gunner seat of Daeon's Mount, facing backwards. In an instant, the two Mounts accelerated quickly towards the marker point on their helmets' display.
"Watch it Eanon, Virus ahead! Lots of them. Theron, when we pass, begin firing!" shouted Daeon as they continued to race at 20 metres per second towards the marker, which indicated they were still about 3000 metres from the Outpost. That meant 150 seconds to reach it if they kept at this speed.
"Don't stop for anything. We'll be there in no time if we keep at a good speed." Daeon reassured his team, although he was unsure about whether the Virus Beings would overwhelm them as they passed.
They continued at high speed, heading for the Virus Beings. The Parasites still waited, ready to fire. Theron prepared the Beam Turret. Daeon began firing the cannons as they shot through the beings, and biomass flew through the air splatting into walls of destroyed buildings. As they flew through the immensity of green-brown beings, Theron kept a good aim on the tougher, larger forms.
"Daeon! We've got something....according to the HUD tracker, some type of other entity, over there on the floor of that building! It's not Parasite - what if we could save it?" shouted Eanan over the sound of wind, gunfire and the Mounts' engines. Daeon thought for a moment. Many beings that had the chance of being sentient had been wiped out by the Parasite in months; he didn't want to see it happen again. But it was costly against their journey.
"Alright, but what the hell is a sentient being doing on the side of a speedway?! Theron, cover me whilst I retrieve the being!"
"Understood Daeon!"
Daeon stopped near the being (as did Eanan) and picked it up. It was a newborn, surely. It had four extending lips, although not fully grown, and a long snake-like head and neck. Daeon felt as if the creature had a purpose; like it would be important. It was strange; for a moment he pondered about the far future. Would his own race live on? Or would the new species that he had just found be the next dominant species of the galaxy, and be given The Mantle?
"Daeon, get over here; onto the Mount again! The Parasite will have caught up in so little time!" exclaimed Theron, as the line of Virus Beings ran towards them from the distance behind them.
Daeon quickly jogged back over to his Mount, put the young creature in the back seat of Eanans Mount, strapped it in.
"Eanan, you must stretch your armour's shields over the entire Mount, or the being could be harmed."
"Yes sir."
Now on his own Mount, Daeon set off with Eanan following closely. They soon reached the Outpost, where they were greeted by around 10 Forerunner guards. The guards checked the Mounts for any hidden Infection Forms of the Parasite. They were surprised by the small creature in the back of Eanan's Mount and raised their weapons.
"STOP!" shouted Eanan, "That is no Parasite! It is a sentient creature we found on the surface!". Slowly the guards lowered their weapons, but not without doubts and whispers. As Daeon, Eanan (with the creature) and Theron walked inside the compound, they gained more looks from other Forerunners curious about the young creature.
"We should take this creature to the BioCare facility of this Outpost." Eanan said, but with much the intent of a demand.
"Agreed," said Daeon, "take it there now. I'll come as well; Theron, find out if there are any available dropsships. I wish to get back to the Cruiser we were assigned to."
"Yes, Daeon.""
As Theron headed to the Mobility Facility, Daeon took the creature from Eanan to present to the BioCare scientists. As they entered the ward, they noticed that a few doctors were taking an operation on an infected Forerunner; they may have been able to recover the poor soul, but it was unlikely.
"Hello, soldiers, How can I help you?" asked a doctor.
"Hello doctor. We have a sentient being we...just happened to find, on the side of the speedway."
"Speedway 47?"
"Yes."
"Ahh, excellent!" said the doctor, "brilliant news - I am Doctor Tennun, by the way - marvellous. I believe you found this creature near the Biological Discovery building. And I believe...you have! This" he said taking the creature, "is what we call a Sangheili. They are quite strong - not nearly as strong as the Jiralhanae child we found though - and we only have two children of this species at the moment. You can have a look at the enclosures where we are caring for several different species if you like. This one must be fed though!"
Daeon and Eanan walked over to where there were several pens. Looking over, he saw many of these unique, sentient species, all different. "Unggoy" was one, "Kig Yar" another...and then he came across a pen where a small, yellow-ish creature crawled along the floor. It was not a particularly strong creature, nor was it as large as others. But is did have a special feel to it. Like the other creature. On the tag on the pen, was the word "Human".
Part 3, later.
