Frankly im a little tired of all the spam and Halo 3 talk that goes on everywhere on these forums and i havnt seen a thread about Marathon in a long while because they are all pushed away by these double posting idiots (not to say that people who talk about Halo 3 in general are idiots). Does anyone other than me think that Bungie should make a section for Marathon?

Well, they could seperate the Underground into two forums - Bungie General and Oldschool games. But that would mean more work for the Bungie moderators.

Not a bad idea though.

It would probably be spammed like most other forums. And as much as people like Marathon, there probably wouldn't be enough to warrant another forum. And then people would complain about not having a Myth forum, and then people would want an Oni forum, and then a Gnop forum. A good idea, but I think the real problem lies in the misinterpretation of the Underground's description, in that it is too general and is therefore abused.

It really weird you would post this. Cuase no matter what every forum would be spamed... I think we keep the underground for marathon, and maybe change the discription so it more marathon related. Maybe if people thought it had to do with myth and marathon, the wouldn't post halo related topics.

The description should be Bungie oldskewl, and make it much less confusing

It seems like the old-school games are mostly supported by the fan base in an off-Bungie fashion nowadays. I wouldn't have any problem with a forum for discussion of such, though, if the forum team thinks it a Good Idea.

That's just because of inertia. There were no forums on Bungie.net before Halo came out, so all Marathon, Myth and Oni discussion took place on fan sites. When the Underground came along, people talked Halo on it, and if you wanted to talk about Marathon, you went to the Story forum, or if they wanted to talk Myth they went to the Myth.bungie.org forums, or, after the bungie.net game server closed down, at Mariusnet or PlayMyth. And so bungie.net (along with HBO, of course) is seen to be a place to talk Halo, while all the older forums are where old-school discussion takes place.

Most people who are on these forums came here because they saw a website in the Halo manual. The majority of Marathoners didn't really visit bungie.net at all aside from news, and the vast majority of Mythers stopped visiting once it stopped being a place to check your stats. Which is the root of the dearth of on-topic threads in the Underground today. You can't change history.
