So theres been what 3 million copies of ODST sold and probably around 5+ by the time the BETA launches.

Dont BETAs usually try to limit the number of people so you know, theyl work.

Here’s what Luke had to say about the differences in treatment between the Spartans and Elites in Reach:

“Instead of piece-by-piece customization like the Spartans, Elite customization is a full model swap with models selected from the various Elite classes appearing throughout the Campaign. There are all kinds of reasons for this, not the least of which is our continued emphasis on the Spartan as your identity in Reach.”

The Halo 3 Beta was designed to test their matchmaking system and servers. So, they want as many people as possible for the stress test.

Ninjabag the tea-pirates!

I don't want to join your group.

It should have as good a capacity for players as Halo 3 (possibly even better) so it should be able to cope. Just because it's a beta doesn't mean it doesn't have the same software and hardware as the real thing. It's the full product they just need to see what needs tweaking.

Well il be some kind of pissed if they start cutting people out of the BETA.

Thats called bait and switch bungie, you touted the BETA as a major selling point of ODST.

This thread would have appealed to me more if it was written with crayons.

I broke one of the cords for my X11s because I couldn't get past the final American course in Doritos Crash Course.

I imagine they'll be using roughly the same system as halo 3's matchmaking which is pretty tried and tested. They'll probably be looking more at gameplay, balance, bugs and stuff like that.
