Subject: Clue on the Halo Reach teaser??

Hold up!!!
For those of you who say that the UNSC shouldve detected the ring at a longer range, there is a part in the clip where the man gives the first report, saying, "...Unconfirmed reports of an instant slip-space rupture". So, First off, this Halo ring is half shown. The other half is behind the moon. The bottom part on what seems to be the second half is just has from god knows what. Second, when moon first appeared, nothing was behind it. Then as he finishes his sentance, the ring begins to appear. This instant slip-space rupture is most likely from the ring, which has to be a Halo ring. This is from a little bit of time studying the trailer. All this begins at 13 seconds of the clip. If you can, go slow-mo and pay close attention to the moon.

Well whoever said the game was based on the books?

I could see the ring, and it lookede like it was behind the "planet", so it's not saturn or anything.

The guy that said "Ever heard of Saturn?" was not saying that planet was Saturn. I assure you that no one can be that stupid. He was using Saturn as an example of a planet with a ring around it.

And no... It is the planet Reach, far away from any Halo.

People earlier in this thread were right, it's the "gas" from the planet (aka over-used effects) that's creating the "Ring".

It's the same colour as the atmospheric effects and as the trailer/books have explained there were no Halo Rings near Reach.

For all you non-believers that it is Reach, alot of the wreckage is from orbital platforms and ships...I even believe that the voice-over mentions that some of the vessels are "slipping in behind our guns".
Bungie is trying to get away from the Halo rings and tell a story before all the hype behind S-117, the story of Reach stays away from him until around Halo:First Strike which is near the end of the Battle of Reach and from the teaser the Battle of Reach is the focal point of this game.

No more flood, no more rings, that's the easy part.
*Waits for the arguments and flames*

Man... at first I thought it was a planitary/lunar ring, but then I saw the specks and lines...

Blam, man, nice find!!

let's make a view tings clear:the ring isn't going around the planet. it could not be a halo but its not a ring around the planet/moon.

  • 10.11.2009 9:47 AM PDT

Yeah, It might not be a halo, but it would be cool if it was, so we could play in forerunner environments.

  • 10.11.2009 9:56 AM PDT

Nothing to see here, move along.

Oh noes, a halo ring has done a slipspace jump to reach... or maybe its not a halo ring?
