Go Rams and Missouri!

Said by: Joseph Staten
In Reach, we wanted to give you the feeling that you are surrounded in battle. There will be Spartans fighting alongside you in a squad, but without the squad-based mechanics.

Wow. That seems like a good bit of info. In the first 4 games, you were pretty much a lone soldier. Yes, there were marines around you, but they usually died off and it ended up you did most of the work. Hopefully in Reach, there will be more bad guys in the battle. The size of battle can be increased exponentially. You may still end up killing the same amount of enemies as in previous games, but with Spartans on your side to actually do something, many more enemies could logically be there (I'm sure Bungie can use Xbox's technology to do this) and you would feel completely immersed in a huge battle (which is what The Battle for Reach was, huge!).

I think Halo is every bit about Campaign as it is Multiplayer. Multiplayer is the legs and played much more, but Campaigns are where you first get your boots on the ground. I play straight through Campaign before anywhere else. It makes the game. It's the reason to buy it. Multiplayer is just keeping you playing (and it's fun).

To each there own but i really don't have an understanding for those that jump straight into MP - and to the point that they don't even care for campaign.I regularly play the best bits of Halo3 as it never gets old

Providing Reach campaign lives up to an epic and long satisfying experience, why would anyone want to miss that if they're into their Halo

Reach potentially at least could be the very most awesome thing to have come from Bungie so far

Fingers crossed

T'is the truth. Without MP Halo would be nothing.

But without Campaign, it's nothing as well. They are equally important.

By the power of truth, I, while living, have conquered the universe.

The campaign is what made Halo. Everything from the genocidal campaign of the Covenant, to the deep dark mystery of the Forerunners.
Every inch of it is a true piece of fine art that brings the game together.

Matchmaking tends to be less important in my books, it's all about story for me!

  • 10.10.2009 1:17 PM PDT

Ninjabag the tea-pirates!

I don't want to join your group.

I come for the story and stay for the matchmaking. That said i would probably buy it if it was campaign free. Hmmmm...

Completely wrong. Campaign keeps the players interested for a few weeks max after release, while MP is what truly keeps the game alive for years to come. Ultimately, campaign doesn't matter and should be the secondary focus of the game.

You do end up playing Multiplayer more, but there is no denying that the bulk of the fun you have comes from the Campaign.

Also, Halo is nothing without its campaign. The Covenant makes Halo what it is. Everybody loves the little Grunts, the fierce Elites and Brutes. We all know the tricky Jackals and looming Hunters.

In my opinion the MP is more important, campaign is good but could live without it.

I believe that if Campaign had matchmaking, it would be played almost as much as multiplayer.

Again, you're wrong. If campaign was as fun as you claim it to be it'd last as long as MP would, which is not the case. MP is funner for longer, the campaign can only be fun for so long.

Without its campaign Halo would still be one of the most popular games out there, it's the MP that made it so famous.

The entire episode was on Youtube for a while, but they took it down due to copyright infringement. No link at the moment, but it was said.

Chief vs the scarab? I find that hard to believe to roundhouse boot the scarab's figurative emotion out of the gaming zone.

Squad Based mechanics Ala Republic Commando would be awesome. Playing through Republic Commando now and the mechanics in it are brilliant.,

  • 10.10.2009 10:22 PM PDT

He said no squad based mechanics. Not no class based mechanics.

It's also a big bummer seeing how a few simple squad commands using the headset or natal wouldn't be that bad.

I'm the cult of personality,
I call it like i see it, if i feel the need to be blunt and to the point, then i will, if i feel the need to be very detailed, i will, im here to stay and im here to do things my way, if you respect that or not is your choice, not mine,
and don't worry, while i don't agree with everyone's opinion, i do respect everyone's opinion.
