So, I was thinking about how dual-wielding in Halo 3 became obsolete realy fast due to the more powrful weapons that did not need to be dual-wielded, you can mellee and could be kept as a secondary weapon. This is similar to the mauler in Halo 3, why use dual-wielded maulers when you can have a more poweful shotgun that I can have as a secondary and mellee with.
A similar situation happens with the SMG and AR.

So here is my question:

What does everybody think about being able to switch weapons when I am dual-wielding withou dropping one of my weapons. Considering the fact that all dual-wielded weapons are held on the thigh and as it so happens....Humans have TWO thighs, allowing two dual-wielded weapons to be kept as secondary.

Please, feel free to tell me what you think and don't forget to vote!

PS: my T key is broken on my keyboard so if it is missing in a word please excuse me.

dual wields dont usually hold their weight very well in a firefight.it would be a major victory for them if they could be together in ur secondary.

All you need is a well placed grenade :)

Ive never had many problems when i need to dual wield. I use maulers a lot to because sometimes the shotgun isnt available, however a mauler does the same thing almost. I look at shotguns not always a guaranteed kill so shot+melee is how i use it. Same with a mauler shot+melee, however two maulers=one shotgun hands down. A SMG+Pistol can do more damage then an AR. PP+Magnum can be more powerful then a lot of weapons. Its not that dual wielding is underpowered. its how it is used. Plus when you melee its nice to have a free hand for nade throwing, cause if your meleeing with dual wield your either gunna kill or get killed and a martyrdom nade is a good option

That isn't what I am saying exactly, I'm not saying dual-wielding is underpowered I am saying it is not as good as standard weapons because you can not switch between dual-wielding and say a sniper rifle. You have to drop one of your dual-wielded weapons.

Thats not saying its underpowered, its saying it can leave you at a disadvantage. So you lose half your power by weapon switching, but the weapon doesnt dissapear and you can always grab another dual if needed. If anything id say add another dual weapon since the Needler was put back as its best, single handed

whats the problem with giving dual wields some power? Without dual wielding most dual wielding weapons are pointless. I hate having to melee someone and then go on a scavenging hunt to find my other weapon.Besides, dual wielding would be optional, so u could keep a hand open for nades if u wanted to.

I would like to invite you to the most active group there is, Black Water Ops. Boasting over 4000 members this is one of the fastest growing groups and proven to be one of the most active b.net groups. An amazing experience awaits you with weekly game nights, photo contests, and forging contests. This is one decision you won't regret. Welcome to the family!

I like this idea, it would really help if you want to dual-smg, but then you have a sniper rifle. I would use that, plus I think more people would use dual-wields more often if this were implemented.

Here’s what Luke had to say about the differences in treatment between the Spartans and Elites in Reach:

“Instead of piece-by-piece customization like the Spartans, Elite customization is a full model swap with models selected from the various Elite classes appearing throughout the Campaign. There are all kinds of reasons for this, not the least of which is our continued emphasis on the Spartan as your identity in Reach.”

Dual weapons should have a larger reserve ammunition capacity.
