Imagine you were playing Flag Slayer. You are fighting off enemies when all the sudden your flag is stolen. Immediately both teams begin to focus on the flag as a battle ground. This would allow players to set of choke points and ambushes further on, while still preserving that "slayer" feel.

Also with CTF/Slayer kills would be more rewarding. Insted of the disapointment when you know your kills are not being tracked.

Been playing Halo since CE

This idea is great and will bring more variety.

Keep this thread alive.

This does sound like a cool idea but in all reality I think people will not play these gametypes because of it's lack of simplicity. Why do you think slayer is so popular? (I could be wrong.)

I had simplicity in mind. I mean, it beats loads of confusing rules that everyone has to agree not to break. Sure it may take a while to create a game type, but it's no challenge for anyone with a little experience.

Indeed. However, this isn't about adding or taking something away from it. It's about combining what we alredy have.

Im really hoping that you could mix objectives to make a new one (I would love a left 4 dead approach in infection) not only could you change the game types but the objects themselves so they have more significance (an example is a special weapon that is the only means of killing a special zombie)

I would combine Hill and Territories back together.
Just like how it was in Halo 2.
Hold territories for time and win by that time score.

And maybe make a combine of Team Slayer and Infection.
Teams start out even.
If you get killed, you go to your killers team.
Ends either by score limit, time limit (which has more members or kills), or if an entire team is wiped out.
I don't know what to call it.

Team Slayer + Infection = Zombies vs Vampires

It may require quite a few people (I'll go with a full 16 in this explaination). 3 players spawn as Zombies, 3 players spawn as Vampires, and the other 10 spawn as Humans. The Zombies try to eat the Humans' brains while the Vampires try to drink their blood. If a Human is killed by a Zombie, he becomes one, and the Zombie gets a point. Likewise, if a Human is killed by a Vampire, he becomes one, and the Vampire gets a point. Zombies and Vampires get no points for killing each other, but they are still enemies. Humans get points for killing both Zombies and Vampires. When all the Humans have been converted to one of the other groups, the Zombies and Vampires battle it out, earning a point for each kill. When one of the groups are eliminated, the round ends.

EDIT: I didn't notice the above poster came up with a similar idea...kinda.

I think by default, everything should be one gametype, which you can alter to make other ones.

In the main options screen, you could have

Primary gametype:
Secondary gametype:

Special options would then be created to help combine both gametypes (human/zombie side for VIP?)

BTW: You can alreay make a slayer CTF combination, simply find the screen that let's you change the points for specific things. Put kill = 1, and flag cap = 10. You can also change things like flag return points, etc.

You can also make something similar to infection/VIP, because you can give specific traits to the VIP's team.

True, but I think that infection should be the primary game type for it to work well.

Here’s what Luke had to say about the differences in treatment between the Spartans and Elites in Reach:

“Instead of piece-by-piece customization like the Spartans, Elite customization is a full model swap with models selected from the various Elite classes appearing throughout the Campaign. There are all kinds of reasons for this, not the least of which is our continued emphasis on the Spartan as your identity in Reach.”

Assault + Territories.

Ladnil

Capture the King of the Oddball! Flags worth like 50 points, ball and hill time 1 point. First to, I dunno, 200 wins.
