Do you think a double campain (UNSC "good"+ the Covenant "bad")

  • 10.11.2009 7:52 AM PDT

I'm not sure how it would work, as the Humans would be allot easier to kill than Elites, but I think it may be fun

  • 10.11.2009 7:57 AM PDT

reminds me of halo 2!

The less than a second latency of online play is a better system to play off of than more health.

You realize this system is just as host based, right? because if you're fighting host, or someone with a better connection to host, and you each start firing at the same time, his BULLETS will register first, giving him slightly more health if the melees happen at the same time.

So would you rather have the BS of both, or just one?

Not necessarily. Individual humans yes but remember a single basic human trooper handles himself much better than any small pack of grunts. Add onto that some vehicle support/ specialists with odd weapons and even spartans (they can't be as frequent as elites but maybe make them mini-bosses like hunters or simply make them invincible and run away after they take too much damage.

Plus who says that fighting as covie would be all that easy? Yes if every mission you can count on an elite's vitality and energy shields then some missins could be dull but if we get a more class based campaign then you could find yourself fearing up close combat as your sniper/ jackal shield are your only defense; you may be more durable as a brute (halo 2 simplified style) but being limited to explosives by covenant doctrine would make yours a mission of fun anti-tank work, and certainly being stuck as grunt would be a challenge for any veteran player (don't think such a role would ever enter standard multiplayer but for campaign it could).

Humans aren't equivalent to Elites. Humans are more like Grunts or Jackles. In a Covanent campaign, there is no real equal to Elites on the UNSC side. Spartans are more powerful than Elites, regular humans are too weak.

idk. i missed the double campain in Halo2. like... we can play as the bad guys or something. just to see what it would be like. so we can play as an elite or a brute. elites are prefered more. i don't really wanna be a giant monkey.

  • 10.11.2009 8:23 AM PDT

i think that they should have a 15 mission unsc story then a 5-7 mission covie story

I want a single. You can either have one long, well fleshed out single campaign, or two short campaigns in a double.

Or, given the time they've got left, they could make a really long fleshed out UNSC Campaign, and a short extra Covenant Campaign, more of a bonus then an actual Campaign.

I'm not against the idea of a double campaign, but the idea having two skimpy stories doesn't fit well with me. I wouldn't mind a spectacular UNSC campaign, and a shorter DLC campaign as the Covenant.

It would also be cool for a Covenant sidestory. Like Sadie's story, just something in the UNSC campaign where you can read/listen/watch a Covenant as he goes on his own journey through the same spots you visit and see the different perspective.

That'd be cool. Maybe a last post-credits level playing as the Covie you've been watching? Think "Mile High Club" from CoD4.

How would that work story wise though?

ODST SPOILERSadie's story was a cry for help from VergilSpoiler Done

but I don't see how you would be able to see a story from the enemy team.

It would be really cool to have double, as long as they didn't cut back on them. I would rather have one, full and nice campaign than two short ones.

drone = marine with smg
grunt = marine with assault rifle
fuel rod grunt = marine with rocket
jackal = marine with pistol
jackal sniper = basic ODST with sniper
brute/elite = elite ODST with assault rifle and pistol (basically ones like the halo 3 odst squad)
brute/elite with carbine = elite ODST w/BR
fuel rod brute/elite = elite ODST with rockets/laser
invisible brute = elite ODST with experimental cloaking armor???

we don't really need an equivalent for elites in the covenant campaign, it could be like halo 3 where there wasn't really an equivalent for the Master chief, brutes were fairly easy to kill. so the covenant campaign could be run and gun like halo 3, and the UNSC campaign would be more like Halo 3 odst.

  • 10.11.2009 9:42 AM PDT

I think a double campaign would be great. But this time around, if they do it, half levels should be UNSC and other Half should be Covenant. 50-50, you know. And each level, you could play the perspective of a different unit, or just follow the perspective of one unit the whole time.

  • 10.11.2009 9:51 AM PDT

Yes it is spelt like that on purpose.

I liked seeing both sides of the story in Halo 2, so for Reach I am sure it would be fun as well. But if so it has to be done well the campaign still has to be long enough and still fun to play.

  • 10.11.2009 9:55 AM PDT

I doubt Bungie would be so stupid as to make the same mistake twice so we certainly wont be seeing an intertwined campaign this time

Not that i would ever want this, providing these campaigns were seperate i would at least be grateful for that, but then that makes for a lesser UNSC campaign - and lets be honest here guys, Reach is about this huge struggle from the point of view of our guys

The notion that this should be split is really missing what Bungie wants to recreate

Another time then perhaps a covenant Reach campaign could be released but the idea here is very uncalled for regardless of what the poll shows

Bungie wont be included this

mistake... in your opinion (don't try to say its fact)

i personally loved the intertwined campaign

Some people loved this yes

And again loads of people will of course want it here but it's out of place at this time and Bungie knows this

What Bungie did with Halo2 was both a great inclusion but also very stupid in how it was done - it delighted while at the same time p!55ed a lot of fans off.Two seperate campaigns would have been far better as it wouldn't have caused such a divide

So yes very stupid and Bungie would tell you this themselves

It's not that this style of campaign mixed the way it was, was badly done in any way but unless it was Bungie's plan to absolutely alienate a very big percentage of it's adoring fans, then yes Bungie stuffed up big time

Yup a fact and one that i'm sure Bungie isn't keen to repeat
