Golf Wang. Brony.

Meh. It just popped up in my head.

Perhaps in Halo: Reach, we have weapon loadouts?

Just like in Halo 3, you customize your Spartan (or Elite), choosing the color, armor, etc. and in the same menu area you can choose your starting weapon, pistol, and 1 equipment.

Starting Weapons
-Assault Rifle (or Plasma Rifle)
-Battle Rifle (or Carbine)
-Silenced SMG

Secondary
-M6D (accurate, powerful, slow ROF)
-M6C (dual-wieldable, faster)

Equipment
-Flare
-Bubble Shield
-Trip Mine

Grenades (start: 2)
-Frag

Since you customize your weapon loadout where you would customize you Spartan, your chosen starting weapon will appear on your character in your Service Record.

There would be a "No Weapon Loadouts" option in where you customize the gametype, allowing for games and playlists not using this system.

Of course, there would need to be tons of balancing to work out the starting weapons and equipment but it could be done. This system would ensure a different starting experience every game, and there would be nothing stopping you from picking up weapons and equipment in the map and from other players.

Equipment spam may occur. Perhaps you can only use your chosen equipment once per game, or it will "reload" after a 90 second interval when you respawn again?

Thoughts?

That's the thing. My idea doesn't include Elites.
:(

I guess you could use Covenant weapons for your Elite, but that would need even more weapon balancing. That, or you have the same weapons whether you choose to be a Spartan or not.

*shrugs*

It's not like every weapon and piece of equipment is out for you to choose from.

I like were this is going, but more restructuring is needed.

Any suggestions?

The good thing about this idea is it seems more easier to implement and can still be true to the usual Halo gameplay.

Balancing will be a -blam!-, though. I am expecting weapon overhauls in Halo: Reach.

I wonder why.

A real test of a man is if he is willing to scrape a sharpened razor up and down his junk just to please a woman.

It needs to be way more concrete than this, but the general idea is decent...

Customization was the only thing I liked about COD4.

More concrete as in the ideas need to be much more detailed and varied than this.

The options you described are extremely limited and plain. Classes are much more than just weapon load outs. Health, speed, special abilities and attributes are all things that need to be accounted for when making and balancing classes.

I was actually brainstorming Reach classes the other night, and I'm actually wondering if I should expand on it.

I agree, my idea is pretty limited but that's the point.

I was going for an experience where it's still true to classic Halo gameplay without going overboard with RPG elements. I can pull tons of special abilities and stats out of my ass if I wanted to but I've seen tons of threads already do that.

I guess this isn't really a Reach multiplayer classes thread.
