The POV from the novels did not run into him on Reach but its possible that whoever we play as did run into him. Its unknown where he was during the invasion of Reach.

ok i was just wondering because if he was then that would mean all the brutes on reach (if any) would not be wearing power armor and if they did bungie would have broken canon!

If this sentence is true, he will be involved in Reach.

Well they broke the canon, but technically they can do that, and they make a new canon which replaces the old one. In terms of breaking the canon, they also broke it with the appearance of Elites. Elites and Brutes were widely encountered in the newer novels and Halo Wars way before Reach, but in The Fall of Reach, the UNSC had very little intel on the Elites and Brutes.

Didn't the crew of Spirit of Fire only encounter Brutes on the Shield World?

Anyways, I'm glad that Halo Wars omitted that little fact in Fall of Reach.

well that was ensemble studios fault not really bungies. but this breaks a lot of canon because in the books it says that the brutes that are with tarturas dont wear power armor!

The Brutes, but the Elites were widely encountered on Harvest and Arcadia, major human battles, so the Elites would not have been pseudo-theoretical species. The Brutes were widely encountered on Harvest, so they should also not have been a theoretical species in The Fall of Reach.

Canon has a priority level. First comes the games, newest over oldest. This defines the canon, and anything that conflicts with the games is not canon. After this are the novels and other published goods like HGN or strategy guides. Then 3rd party ads and such, like the BELIEVE or Halo 3 CGI trailers.

Bungie re-wrote the canon in these instances, and they may well do the same in Halo REACH. I just hope they don't re-write anything.

I know that. Techically Bungie can do that in REACH and it won't matter what the books say. The games are first and foremost to the canon according to Bungie and everything else is secondary. I don't think they would do anything majorly canon-breaking, though, as it is their canon. they care about continuity.

In Contact Harvest Tartarus and the other Brutes in his pack wore power armor. It's possible that he simply took away his armor to have a more ceremonial and old-fashioned look to show the Brutes' ancestry.

After the Brutes failing at Harvest, they were mainly taken off the front lines and kept going in as auxiliary troops, such as support units, sentries, spec ops, excavations, etc., so this is possibly why the ones in Halo 2 have no armor. They were reduced to sentry units on the Unyielding Hierophant (First Strike) and High Charity (Halo 2), but when we see the main Brute infantry again gaining steam, they wear the power armor. Presumably any Brute infantry units showing up in REACH would have power armor, but if they were the scaled back sentries or explosive support troops, maybe they won't have armor.
