No matter how many seals are killed by sharks a year, it never seems to be enough :D
Part. 25
Again, I apologize for the shortness. I'm in a bit of a rutt with my writing lately.
Aaron pressed his back against the wall as he peered around the corner. Three Elites were conversing, making the strange noises that human's could only presume to be laughter.
The aliens were wearing a blue silverish armor. The Shade recognized it as a stealth suit. He knew they had weaker shields than the others, so he devised a messy but simple solution.
Aaron primed a grenade, and quietly rolled it across the floor. The explosive stopped right in between the trio of Covenant soldiers, and they fell silent. It took them a few seconds to realize what it was, and by then the only thing they had time to do was widen their eyes before their innards repainted the walls.
The Shade peeked around the corner, and let out a strange noise. He narrowed his eyes, confused on what had just happened. It was forced out of him, not voluntary. Aaron had heard the noise come from Lena once, but he had never experienced it himself.
Aaron shrugged the anomaly off, and continued through the halls. Finding an exit from the underground facility was not as easy as Aaron had thought it would be. Lena and he had crossed paths ten times in the first fifteen minutes of their search.
Lena slumped down against the wall, and hung her head. "We're going to die, aren't we?"
Aaron shrugged. "Maybe," The Shade instantly realized his mistake, "Probably not. We'll find a way out of here."
"There's a prophet here"
"Yes, there is."
"We can still win." Lena stood up with new hope, "We have to capture him, the prophet."
The male Shade pulled off his combat mask, and wiped the sweat off of his brow. "Then we force them to leave?"
"No, they will not leave. They will attack us, and try to get him back, knowing that we can't kill him because then we will not have anything to keep them from glassing us from orbit. We will use this outpost to hold them off."
"Impossible. We will be overrun."
Lena crossed her arms. "Do you have any better ideas honey?"
Aaron was about to respond when a confused look appeared on his face. "Why did you call me honey? I'm not food."
"When we were on the ship I saw two people kiss, and the female called the male honey. I thought that when people were like that" Lena blushed and unfolded her arms, embarrassed by her nonsensical words. "Let's...let's keep looking for a way out of this place."
