Or what if depending on what parts got damaged, certain features stopped working. Like if you take out one of the hover pods the flight is gimped


I like that as long as it only happens if the vehicles hit points are really low. I think it would be lame if you got in a Banshee and then ten seconds later someone takes out a flight pod with a lucky sniper shot.

Sounds amazing! Except the part with the Turretless Warthog, that's a bit too unbalanced, but everything else was spectacular!


A turretless hog would be realistic in the scenario I made it happen. I just want the vehicles to have reactive damage when they are weak. Realisticaly a turret on a hog would get ripped off by a fast flying Banshee.

Another example would be the Wraith. Someone is in a Wraith just letting loose with plasma. The Wraith has low hit points. A guy manages to get off a rocket that hits the plasma mortar and pushes the hit points into critical levels. The plasma mortar was what to the blow so it is destroyed. The tank is now useless but that is a possibility in real life.

A vehicle that has critical hit points is extremely weak and can be killed with little effort so you wouldn't want to use it anyways. Reactive damage just addes a little bit of realism to the vehicles and how they take damage. It lets you know your vehicle is about to be destroyed and if it gets imobilized then you have the option of making a last stand using the vehicles weapons or if the weapons get destroyed then you can use the vehicle to escape.

sounds good, and i think you should be able to kamakazie crash land into somebody to kill them


Of course. That is the idea behind my new achievment Crashtakular. You just have to kill them by hitting them with the vehicle while crahsing. If you happen to crash next to someone and blow up and kill them you don't get the achievement but you got a kill.

That's a cool idea. Maybe if when in a warthog the only things that could happen are immobilisation and flat tires though - it's redundant to have a turretless warthog. It's a good idea though, I can definitely imagine shooting a banshee full of rockets, the banshee suddenly swerving away due to having one wing missing, and crashing into a cliff face. A phantom falling towards the ground, one side faster than the other and the passengers falling out.

That turretless hog would not take much at all to be destroyed so using it in combat would be pointless. However, it still drives so you can use it to escape before you get killed. Vehicles with critical hit points are considered a dead vehicle. This would meen that a new hog would be respawning soon. Now you use the turretless hog to get to the new hog. After sitting abandoned for a little bit a criticaly damaged vehicle will self destruct.

They either blast into a thousand pieces or come crahsing to the ground while still on and lots of crap breaking or failing while the pilot is trying to recover or land without killing eveyone inside the plane.

Maybe if I take a bad hit in a Banshee and I am gunna crash I can try and crash my Banshea into an enemy and take someone with me. That leads to the Achievment. That would be the hardest Halo Achievment ever. You would either be the luckiest person or have amazing skill.


true. however that wouldnt be halo. halo has always been simple, and probably will be with reach. if this was in reach, then it would be the simplest way possible, which is either exploding or shutting off.

Halo has allways been simple because we didn't have the tech or console with the power to make it complicated until now. I don't meen complicated in a bad way. I meen we now have a consol and game engines that would allow Bungie to make more realistic enviornments in multiplayer and not just campaign. They could also introduce this crash sytem as well. I wouldn't be surprised if we end up seeing destructable enviornments as well. People like it when the game is more realistic. And in reality your plane doesn't just shut off when it takes damage.

Games have been evolving and improving since the first game. They allways try to make them feal as real as possible. I think more realistic and "complicated" stuff in Halo is natural and most will welcome it. I don't want Halo Reach to be like Halo 3. I want a whole new game that has the same basic core but is new and fresh.

That would be cool but it would be a nightmare to put into the game and vehicles would be a lot easyer to kill or gimp. The reason I want any kind of damage that could effect vehicles to only happen when they are already close to being destroyed is so that you can get a lot out of a good vehicle but when it is damaged you have tpo worry about losing a tire or something.

Well ok but, how about when your whole team is getting owned by a warthog and the other team has the anti-vehicle weapons? It would be tough to snipe because they could make it so that you could only snipe the very middle of a wheel. You can snipe the driver, so its perfectly balanced if they made sniping a wheel that would just make the warthog drive more out of control.

If your good enough to snipe the tire on a Warthog that is tearing up the map then you could just snipe the gunner. Lol. Like I said, if the Warthog has low hit points and you shoot the tire and cause the hit points to go into critical levels then the tire pops, but a full strength Warthogs tire would not pop. If a hogs tire could just get poped by 1 shot of a snipe then no one would drive the hog. It would be too easy to gimp.
