Subject: I am scared about the transition from Halo 3 to Reach.

Were it so easy.

Players like myself, we are so used to the way Halo 3 is and works, and if Halo Reach is very different, I am scared I and others will not like it.

I hope Bungie keeps it like Halo and doesn't change/add new things. The transition from Halo 2 to 3 was VERY hard for myself and others because of equipment, crappier maps, not as a good of a campaign as Halo 2 etc...

I am scared Halo Reach might, *might be disappointment if they change too much. I mean, ODST was cool, and THAT was a change, but in a fun way, not in a bad way. I enjoyed ODST but if Reach is drastically different, it might totally be a horrible game or to much like COD or something.

Bungie just please keep it like Halo, make the campaign incredible, not a let down, and make the multipleyer like either Halo 2's or Halo 3's no different (COD style or class BS). If I see any more change my eyes will hurt and the multiplayer just might not be of the hardcore Halo players' tastes.

Who else is worried? Hopefully we get more info on it soon so we know to be worried about it or not.

Honestly I am not expecting anything until we get more info, I expected a lot out of Halo 3 that wasn't there, I learned my lesson as did some others.

Um... I like Halo? I don't really know what to say. I'm a student at the moment, I hope to become a criminal profiler, and I enjoy pretty much everything as long as it's good.

What are you, Conservative? The changes that were made were welcome and kept the game from getting stale. Embrace chang or get left behind.

You make it sound like this is some huge thing in your life, and it effects you profoundly.

Actually, yes I am a Republican.

If it doesn't feel like Halo then I don't want it. That's all I'm saying.

Halo makes Halo great because it's Halo.

Not really, but it will be a disappointment if it sucks.

Yeah, adapt to change or die. If you don't like it well, too bad. I'm pretty sure alot of people will enjoy it and become addicted to it.

Halo makes Halo great because it's Halo.
I think most people agree with that sentence.
But I don't feel that "Halo" is defined much by gameplay. Halo Wars definately felt like Halo to me. ODST felt like Halo to me. I'm sure Reach will. It has to do with the haloverse, the aesthetics, and the small pieces of familiarity.

If you enjoy Halo 3, stick with it. No shame in that. It'll still have matchmaking, and probably some good mixing-up of Double EXP weekends from time to time for a good while after. Reach is for those who want something new. And from the sounds of it, you don't.

I miss playing Halo with my friends.

I take it you are referring to the "If it isn't broken don't fix it slogan?" XD Anyways it will more then likly be a great game. The only Halo game i have not baught and or played(and i never will) is Halo Wars. Halo is meant for FPS's not Strategy games. Reach shall be greatly different form what I believe. But knowing Bungie it will be a great game. they have not failed me yet. And from what it looks like they never will. Still trying to figure out how CE was easier on legendary then either 2 or 3 though O_o

I disagree, i want it to be different from halo 3 because honestly halo 3 is feeling a bit boring to me and i want a new halo experience and i hope Reach delivers that experience.

It was meant as a joke, dip-blam!-. It just so happens he is a Republican but so what? And it wasn't so much an insult as it was a friendly jab. Maybe if you got that sand out of your vag you might be a little less sensitive.

now he fights and loses
got all the bruises
will someone please step in?

I'm all for change. Like its been said, if you still wanna play Halo 3... by all means play halo 3. There would be no reason for bungie to just release the exact same game. Embracing change doesn't always mean abandoning the old.

They follow the "If it ain't broke add more awesome stuff on top of that" Slogan.

The less than a second latency of online play is a better system to play off of than more health.

You realize this system is just as host based, right? because if you're fighting host, or someone with a better connection to host, and you each start firing at the same time, his BULLETS will register first, giving him slightly more health if the melees happen at the same time.

So would you rather have the BS of both, or just one?

-HaVOk1228

You do realize you can always just not play a new game. Heck you can log onto halo 2 and still get a game going in a reasonable time so there is nothing saying that you cannot simply hold onto the iteration of the game you like best. Heck I tried to play gears 2 competitive multiplayer for about a week before I became disgusted and went back to gears 1. The great thing about videogames is that not everyone actually buys or even desires to play the newest one of the series. The time it takes to start a game may increase but you will often find that the players that stick to an older version are most like yourself and will likely be more fun to play with (given your common tastes).

However, I myself am hoping for some major changes to the halo series with this newest title. Bungie has given us a great series of games (not without criticisms) in the general mold of halo. I would really like to see them really take the halo fictional settings/ arsenals to new levels with a game that looks, but does not feel like halo. I don't mean that I dislike the current halo or even want to simply play a butchered iteration of halo but simply remake the game series from the ground up into something that works as well as the halo we know, but offers something new to long time followers and new converts alike.

Society doesn't either, by that logic. Churning butter worked fine. So did horse-drawn carriages. So did walking.

What bungie and any game developer intends to do is improve the experience, not "fix" it. To fix something, it does indeed need to be broken. But just because something's not broken doesn't mean it can't be made better. Which is bungie's goal; make their game better.

Can't you just keep playing Halo 3? Unlike you, some people actually want a big change.

  • 10.12.2009 4:52 PM PDT

If they don't change anything, it would be crap. I mean really, ODST and Halo 3 used the same game engine, and played the same. So, the game play was a total bore because I have not only done it before, I am forced to do it again if I want to play ODST. So, if I am once again forced to play Halo 3 again when I buy reach, I will understandably be very upset. Paying 70$ the same thing twice is retarded my good sir, and although I have fallen for this trick once with ODST, I will not do it again for reach. If it is the same, I will promptly trade it in.
