Subject: Titles: Show of your Individuality!

Hi,

The followng things you're going to read are suggestions and came out of my mind, meaning out of my point of view. I like to hear what your opinions are, but keep it civilized.

Titles
To add something new to Halo, I came up with Titles. These Titles are meant to represent your style of playing Halo.
Love sniping? Now everybody can know it.

Currently, I still don't know a good way of how you should earn the Titles. At first I thought you should get a preset amount of kills with (for example) the sniper to get a Title which represents your snipingstyle of playing. the problem is that anybody could get these titles after some time of playing, which will make them pointless.

The Titles could serve for different purposes:
- Encouraging your favorite style of playing Halo:
Everything what's in Halo will be used instead of only BRs.
This makes you more different from the others. You can
also create new groups which represent the same style.
- Let people know what things you're good at:
This way teammates can easily get to know which player
should get the sniper or who should drive the warthog.
You can see how opponents are probably going to play.
- Keeping you play the game:
You want to get a better Title as it will look coller and
that is what we want to be right?

The Titles will appear on your servicerecord so everyone could see it, but will only be seen by people who want to know against who they're playing. (How can you complain against that?)

Let me hear what you think of it and/or if you've got an idea of how I could improve the way you earn the Titles.
Thanks for reading.

Well I guess I better put some pants on.

I feel like I'm gonna break this thing!

What would they be awarded for? For example, would the Sniper title be awarded for a high kill count with that particular weapon?
If they're only displayed in your Service Record, then the person looking there can just look at your kill counts instead, i.e. It doesn't seem worth it.

stead of calling it immediatly worthless you could also read a bit better. I said that I still haven't found a proper way to award the titles. First I thought that the killcount was the thing, but than everybody would get the titles in just a matter of time.

  • 10.13.2009 10:07 AM PDT

1.Arkham Asylum, 2.Mass Effect, 3.Halo CE, 4.Mass Effect 2, 5.Halo 2, 6.Splinter Cell Double Agent, 7.Gears of War 2, 8.Medievil, 9.Oblivion, 10.Crash Team Racing

Not sure about the idea.

Choosing the weapons, grenades and vehicle that show up in your service record screen would be cool though. Maybe you'd have to earn them by killing enough etc.

Then a gametype Starting Weapon option "Profile" would allow you to spawn with those items.

Grenades you have should also be visible this time.

If you could have a Forger title that would be awesome

  • 10.13.2009 10:18 AM PDT

bungie has proven that a bunch of monkeys sitting in front of keyboards can randomly type out a masterpiece. the thing is, when you go to play the masterpiece, you cant help but notice all the monkey s**t smeared all over it.

it gets real old having to wait months for someone like mlg to clean off all the monkey poo.

so someone with alot of incindiary and flamethrower kills would be called fuhrer?

that reminds me, i miss the chenymania medal from the h3 beta for a shotgun spree.

Gamertag: AC Mobius

RIP Derek Farley

I think it's a pretty good idea. Be good for some extra achievments. ;) I'd like to be called "SimplyXSkillz, Lord of the Plasma Pistol"

  • 10.13.2009 10:56 AM PDT

I think I might help you with this

Ok for the sniping one
50 kills with the Sniper-Marksman
50 Snipes-Skilled Marksman
100 Snipes-Hardened Sniper(I don't want it to be kills with the sniper cos it takes more skill to headshot so I only did one for just plain Sniper Kills)

Ninja-50 Assasinations
Assasin(spelling?)-100 Assasinations

Infantry-50 AR kills
Aggressive Infantry-100 AR kills

People Carrier-Travel 200km with a passenger

Warthog Gunner-200 Warthog gunner kills

Mongoose Mower-50 Mongoose splatters

Gunslinger-100 Pistol Headshots

A lot of these can be continued with a higher amount of the required kills or anything else.

I am flatterd that you botherd to look at my signature.

how about for a tilte like sniper. you have to make a certant amount of head shots or make ten sharp shooter medals in matchmakeing..

and for maybe a grenader make four over kills with frags.

stiky nades should have there own too like whell Stiky make 20 sticks in one match?

these titles would be like mini achivements ones that you could show off like a new piece of armor..and it could be seen over your head if you want.

  • 10.13.2009 11:19 AM PDT

Yes it is spelt like that on purpose.

This sounds very Modern Warfare 2 like but all the same it could be neat in halo. I imagine to award them you would have to get so many kills with a certain weapon or play so many matches in certain game modes, for example maybe after playing 200 matches of team slayer you could earn the title "Team Player" or something similar to that.

  • 10.13.2009 11:45 AM PDT

It's better to be judged by twelve, than to be carried by six.

Maybe I have the wrong idea, but i believe that Halo: Reach will fully employ the capabilities of Halo Waypoint. Waypoint is basically (from what I understand) your bungie.net stats page, but on the 360. I think they will end up linking that, therefore giving players the oppurtunity to see what weapons the opposition uses most. Once again, I could be wrong.

Peace through superior firepower.

I think it could be a cool system, but it would not fit into a Halo game. There are some in RPGs though.

Confound these ponies, they drive me to insomnia.

Also, Applejack ftw.

Here's a good one.

"Killionare"

1,000,000 recorded kills throughout campaign, custom games, forge, and matchmaking.

Yeah, but it would be HELLA' COOL!

50 kills for a new title is way too few, but getting a certain amount of kills + a certain amount of medals which are both related to the same style could be a thing to get you a new title

I like it. However it should be based off the Website stats. Lets say if you have more than 45% of your total kills with a certain weapon. Or a certain % of your grenade kills (plasma/spike) are sticks then you should get it. The thing is that this will change over time depending on how you play. Lets say you start out only using the AR. You get the AR title, but later on you start playing MLG gametypes and you use the BR. You lose the option to select the AR title, yet the title for the BR becomes available.

If you limit this to an achievement type of deal, it means nothing because anyone can get a title for using the pistol yet he doesn't really use the pistol, he just used it to get that achievement.

This is what happened in Gears of War 1 where you would see people ALWAYS sticking people with grenades just to get the achievement. Or ALWAYS using the Boomshot or Torque Bow.

Wherever you roam
so far from home
you'll be safe from peril
life threatening and terrible
if you avoid David Powel
and keep track of your towel.

I think that Bungie should have more B.net medals (like Steaktacular and Linktacular), and your titles sound like good ones.

-I was here

maybe you could earn the titles for doing stuff in one game. ex: the pro sniper title or whatever could be unlocked by getting 10-15 sniper medals in one game or an "AR lover" title could be earned by using nothing but the AR in a game and getting at least 20 kills?

But than they would just be medals...
