I've heard a lot of talk about classes in Halo Reach, and I'm all for it. But I don't exactly want it turning into COD either. Rather, I think the lazy approach would be the best.
> Track the highest percentage kill-rate via the Bungie.net page.
> Also track the average of every player across Halo Reach. Might be tricky to compile.
> If any player shows a kill-rate with a certain weapon that's over 10% higher than the average (might change), give them the respective title for that weapon.
"I.e, someone with a 100% sniper kill rate would get the title of Sniper on his page, more or less in the same place as General Grade 4 is now."
> If a player has more than one of these qualifying stats (you weirdo), the highest is picked as the title.
> Some weapons would band together into groups, for example, someone with a 30% melee rate, 20% grav hammer rate, 10% sword rate, etc, would get a "Close Quarters Specialist" Title, or something, rather than just a "Swords" or "Mike Tyson" Title.
> Personal vendetta: A "Wheelman" title would be nice for anyone who gets a certain wheelman-medal rate. :)
This sounds like a lot, but...
> A script like this would be a lot easier to implement than some convoluted perks system that corrupts matchmaking.
> Titles have no effect on play. If the opposite were true, then a General would get bonuses that made them even more powerful. And that obviously isn't fair.
> You'll know who should get the sniper rifle on your team in advance. Or at least there'll be less bickering.
> It'll inspire people to try out new weapons instead of reaching for that BR.
Thoughts?
