Haven't seen this mentioned before, just thought i'd throw it out there.
Sorry if it has been.

Dude I don't care and my grammer is perfect.I used "Big", as you recall it to mak is specific."to not do...",is incorrect beause "do" is present tense/perfect(or future) when it was a past tense.

It's not based on the books.

It's not based on the books.

Considering that the books are canon, it would be stupid to retcon them now.

I would think that it's based on parts of Fall of Reach, but as for First Strike, it's really hard to say. The time-altering parts of that story, and the fact that for the Chief, it was AFTER they left Alpha Halo, may confuse the more casual gamer. Then again, so did ODST's timeline so who knows?

It would be stupid to make a 15 minute, one level game, and then mention "sierra 259" and "sierra 320" and "noble 1" in the trailer without having them in the game.

You must not have read the books. There were a lot of "playable" parts of Fall of Reach that didn't involve the final battle for Reach. Sierra 259 doesn't necessarily mean Spartan 259, it could mean anything that starts with an "S". Like how Charlie Foxtrot usually means Cluster F****d, which perfectly described that chapter in the first level of Halo 3 with that title :P And never did I say it would be strictly follow the book, but it will definitely include things from it.

I highly doubt that the game will have us training under mendez, or fighting insurrectionists, or show the last level in the trailer. I never said that sierra meant spartan, but "this is sierra 259. You've got spartans on the ground, sir" shows that whatever S-259 is, it'll play a part in the game. And there was no S-259 mentioned in the books.

S-259 sounds more like the designation of a Pelican or something to me, based on the context. I have a feeling that there will be a lot of stuff in the game that wasn't in the books but I do feel that the stuff in the book will have a big impact on the game. Your first post, "It's not based on the books." is way off, and that is what I responding to. It doesn't have to follow the books to be based on them. You could be playing an entirely different group of Spartans, never before revealed, but it's still going to be based on the books and the other games because they're all based off the story-bible.

Caboose: "your a thing that babies suck on?"
Tucker: "no dude, that's a pedephile"
Church: "tucker, i think he means a pacifier"

Considering that there are many details that could be added without contradicting the main points in the books, I don't see why the game would have to adhere to either books that cover the events on Reach. While I think it would be cool to play several POV missions from inception of the Spartan program through the "fall" of Reach, I doubt that will be what this is about.

More than likely this game will focus on several of the ground engagements that took place on the planet, told through POV's that were not mentioned in the books. Adding a few nameless soldiers, or even Spartans is not that huge a sin when compared to the grand scheme of things. The important thing is that pillars of the story are not changed. If an event is re-written for the sake of the game, then there is a problem, but if the game covers an event that was otherwise not mention, but fabricated solely for the sake of the game, that is not a problem from the standpoint of canon, provided that "addition" does not too heavily contradict existing canon.

Bungie isn't stupid, they won't retcon the important stuff, if anything else at all.

Here’s what Luke had to say about the differences in treatment between the Spartans and Elites in Reach:

“Instead of piece-by-piece customization like the Spartans, Elite customization is a full model swap with models selected from the various Elite classes appearing throughout the Campaign. There are all kinds of reasons for this, not the least of which is our continued emphasis on the Spartan as your identity in Reach.”

Not retcon, just a different place at the same time. Doing a game version of "the Fall of Reach" would be boring as -blam!-.

First strike would be better, but I don't like either.

It would be cool fighting along squads of spartans.

But where would the go from there? I mean what left would there be to do on Reach after the events of First Strike?

*Silloin kun näyttää siltä että ei ole mitään hätää niin tulee hälytyskellojen soida
*Neuvostoliiton hajoaminen oli vain showta
*Saksa on löytänyt uuden tavan vallata Eurooppa ilman yhtäkään panssarivaunua

I'm quite sure it will be something new from different perspective. Sierra-259 isn't mentioned in the books so there's a perfect chance him being one of the Spartans from Team Beta.
