My Xbox is starting to give me more 'dirty disc' errors and sounds like a vacuum cleaner when its on...I'm thinking that I'll need a new one before November 9th...so, does anyone know if theres a way to get all my stuff from Xbox to another?

Alternately, is there a reasonably inexpensive way to replace the faulty DVD drive in my old Xbox?

Memory card.

How many blocks can a memory card hold though?

I'm guessing that they cant hold more than 4000...which is at least how much I need to transfer

You could always make multiple transfers, though depending on how much you have it could take awhile.

What do you mean by 'multiple transfers', exactly?

Transfer the memory on to the card. Then transfer the memory on the card, to your new xbox. Repeat as needed.

Or you could just give up some of that save data...I'm sure not all 4000 blocks of it are important. Memory card holds about 500 by the way.

Yep. But of course you have to clear the card before getting another load.

The thing is, I have CDs ripped to the Xbox that I dont actually own, but I would still like to keep. An average size of a CD is around 3500-4500 blocks. So, I guess I'm screwed as far as using memory cards goes.

So does anyone know if replacing the DVD drive itself is possible? If so, how much would it cost?

Well, you may be able to find one somewhere, but I think it would be better if you got a new Xbox. I had the same problem a while ago, my Xbox froze a lot, so I bought a new one, and now it is much quiter and better. Hasn't froze yet.
