But I don't want Battlehalo.
Yes you do.

You just don't know it yet.

I think a class system like Team Fortress 2 would be some awesome fun.

How about we just walk up to a weapon rack in the spawn area and grab our weapon of choice?

Steal Big Ears' Nobel Peace Prize and give it to this guy, because he is awesome.

A real test of a man is if he is willing to scrape a sharpened razor up and down his junk just to please a woman.

That made me laugh, but no, that wouldn't be choosing classes, that would be more like COD4 with identical stats, but you just choose your weapons.

So you just want a Halo 3 remake?

It would hardly be a remake. For one, the campaign will be very different compared to the campaign in Halo 3. In Halo 3, you are one spartan, and you are trying to save the universe. In Halo Reach, you are five spartans, and you are trying to save yourselves. Never before have we seen a squad of spartans in combat, and their legendary power will be contrasted with their helplessness to stop Reach from being destroyed around them. Its almost poetic.

I'd expect the level design in the campaign to depart from Halo 3's level design by a longshot. Instead of "walk through a series of narrow hallways and canyons to your goal", I'd expect things to be much more open. An example mission to describe what I mean? You are on one side of a valley. Theres an anti air turret on the other that needs to be destroyed. Its open world. Have fun. Find your own path, and hurry because reinforcements will come twenty minutes after you first encounter Covenant troops.

But along the way, there will be "side missions" to distract you that will change your chances of success in the senario. You hear a distress call from some marines that are holed up in a cave by covenant forces, do you waste time rescuing them? If you do, you would get some marine allies and some warthogs to use, but it wastes time, and they might die off really quickly depending on what route you take.

Or you might pass by a heavily guarded covenant stockpile. You could attack it and risk losing some of your forces, but in exchange you get access to fuel rod cannons and maybe a wraith that would otherwise be used against you later on in the level.

Choices like these wouldn't alter the story persay but force players to make choices depending on their senario and should provide a new gaming experience every time they play.

As for multiplayer? Forge was one of the most successful features of Halo 3. It was a Map Editor. It was only adapted later on to become a map creator with Foundry and Sandbox. Given the popularity of creating maps amongst the community, one of Bungie's major goals will probably to create a fully functioning map creator that is actually designed to create maps. Add that with expanded custom game options, and you have completely blown Halo 3 out of the water.

There are also several balancing issues that can be addressed in Reach. Vehicle vs. anti vehicle vs. infantry balance, for one. A warthog can easily slaughter infantry and yet a single spartan laser makes it worthless? Hopefully its something that will be addressed in the next game.

I'd also expect theatre to be built apon, the abillity for us to render videos online availible from the release of the game, and maybe some fire fight.

So yeah, totally not a clone of Halo 3. Its kinda like how Neo dies and becomes the One. Same guy, but now he is so amazing, he can stop bullets in their tracks.

That's actually a pretty good analogy.
