Look... I'm on bungiepedia!

Well in The Fall of Reach we only see the space battle during the first 30-45 minutes through the eyes of the Chief. In First Strike we only see about an hour of combat through the eyes of Fred.

There were lots of other Spartans on the surface, some of them even without names or numbers, so its possible that some of them survived like Fred's Team, and entered a different section of the underground facility (in Ghosts of Onyx, Halsey admits that they only found a very small portion of the Forerunner structure on Reach)... and in that underground section, maybe there were Flood being studied.

I can see what you mean about the Swarm, though they could easily work to make the Drones and Thrashers very different. Thrasher would be like a Tank... but massive; about half the size of a Scarab.

Braaaaaaaains........

No, unless it's in some sort of Firefight mode. Other than that I wouldn't want them in there because they don't belong in there. At all.

Group invites will be treated very poorly because the Care Package is empty.

It makes sense, but for Bungie to suddenly add Flood to the equation would totally ruin the story. In Halo 1, it was pretty awesome how the added the flood, then it got weaker into Halo 2, got even weaker in Halo 3, and was just pissed over in Halo Wars.

We know what the flood are, for them to add it now (to me) would ruin it.

I'm going to assume that you meant 'Drones and Swarms'. I assume they could, but it would be hard to make any fine line in between them.

When you talk about the Half-scarab thing, I think of the Juggernaut multiplied by 3. It's probably going to be overpowered, unless we can see some weak spot like on the hunter.

Maybe you could sever its limbs with explosives, destroy its spine with plasma, and inflict high damage on the center of the thrashing tentacles with any weapon.

To briefly boil down the plots of the first three Halo games:

Halo CE: My ship crashes!!! > Whats a Halo? > Oh -blam!- the Flood! > Oh -blam!- thats no Moon! > Blow -blam!- Up! > Escape!
Halo 2: Covenant found Earth!!! > Chase down those mothers > Oh -blam!- thats not a moon either! > Oh -blam!- the Flood! > Oh -blam!- Covenant rebellion! > Kick their Asses > Escape!
Halo 3: I fell!!! > Blow -blam!- Up! > They escaped! > Oh -blam!- the Flood! > Chase down those mothers > Whats an Ark? > Oh -blam!- it fires all the not-moons at once? > Oh -blam!- the Flood Again! > Oh -blam!- thats not a moon but its under construction > Kick their Asses > Escape!

Notice any repetition in plot twists? Bungie has used up the "Oh -blam!- the Flood!" card too many times. Bringing the Flood into Reach would be just as bad as making all five spartans visit another Halo.

"You must be mistaken, Reclaimer. I've met your makers, and they don't even know your name..."

As a fan of the gribbling hordes, I like them, but as a canon freak, I would immediately call shenanigans if somehow Flood managed to get into Reach's campaign.

No because in the books the Flood were never even near Reach. Bubngie should leave the flood out if they want to stay consitent with their books.

I', looking forward to fighting Elites again and I agree with MLG Cheewawa. The flood could have been deep in reach but I highly doubt it nor want it.

the books didnt really mention to much about reach really, there could have been flood somewhere else on the planet just not where the books revovle around, but i doubt this because the power generators and mac station are where a lot of action is and i hope bungie doesnt pass it up! But Reach will be great! No doubt from seeing ODST campaign i can say bungie has finally got the hang of it.

Cortana/Gravemind moments didn't help though.
That's why we can't have the Flood.

Embrace this moment. Remember. We are eternal.
All this pain is an illusion.

I wouldn't say that, they were a great idea, at least how they were used in Halo: CE since nobody saw that coming, we thought all we had to fight in that game was the covenant

but it was all downhill from there

Wherever you roam
so far from home
you'll be safe from peril
life threatening and terrible
if you avoid David Powel
and keep track of your towel.

Flood in Firefight but not Campaign. Put in some Halo Wars Flood too.

Also, what's wrong with Bomber form? They're just floating carrier forms.

And Thrasher forms were probably from local wildlife so they wouldn't be seen off the Shield World but they were only about the size of a Scorpion.

  • 10.14.2009 6:12 PM PDT

For Infection game type, yes! It's a game, multiplayer doesn't have to follow everything campaign has or doesn't have.

  • 10.14.2009 6:15 PM PDT

I would say no for campaign in Halo: Reach. The only way that I could see Flood work in the game is if Bungie makes a non-canon level with some flood in there. But that could even be pushing it.
