Howcome I lag more in games with my nVidia GeForce FX 5700 than I did with my Geforce4 MX 440? Shouldn't my newer card make me lag less...?
I have everything on low. I have no idea what my resolution should be at nor my refresh rate. Anybody have any ideas on the Res. & RR ?

I have checked them. What should my refresh rate be?

Your refresh rate should be as high as your monitor allows. However, when the frame rate goes above the refresh rate, normal lag doesn't occur. Instead the picture seems to "tear" horizontally.

Okay so 85 HZ. But why do I still lag more? On my old card I would get up to 100 FPS and now I can't ever get over 50

Yo it could be your drivers or something to older ones.

Heyyo,

Loco, after installing a new vidcard, you need to uninstall your video card drivers, and install new ones. Cause your comp probably still thinks it has your geforce4 mx440 (imo, worst vidcard nvidia ever made.. a geforce 2 ti pwns this card.)

So yes, uninstall current vidcard drivers, install new ones. that should help a lot. ;)

I have the most recent NGO 1.7772 Drivers. I can see everything perfectly fine. I just want to know why I have frame lag a whole lot more.

try turning off anti-aliasing and anisotropic filtering in your graphics card settings.
these options really burn up more fps than they should, and AA doesn't change the picture at all.

Or you could download some sort of nVidia overclocking tool...
