Hopefuly someone can help me. So I guess my sound card is not supported. Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Fatal1ty FPS. Not so bad because all of the sounds work fine, but EAX and Hardware Acceleration under Sound Options is dimmed out.

So im wondering, if people can add their video cards vendor code to the .CFG file, is there something along those lines that I can do to get EAX or HW Acceleration to work?

Id love to hear this game in all its glory. :)

Oh yes, I am using Windows Vista. I dont think my cpu specs or vid card have anything to do with this issue. Vista on the other hand...

Yes, I am a hypocrite, and I'm sorry. I really do mean well, but I'm not running on all cylinders.

Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.

New driver model in Vista prevents EAX from working. You could try ALchemy, but it didn't work for me. Vista is a step backward for PC gaming.

Yeah. That's right. I don't have a 50 in H3. I never got Onyx in Reach. If a game sucks too much, I won't even bother trying for such trivial "accolades". Besides, I've done way more things that take far more skill and talent than anything that can be done in a video game.

For older games.

Lame. So that goes for turning ON Hardware Acceleration as well?

Isnt Alchemy just a console for SB? I guess I could just go google it eh? :)

Can't argue there. I've had mixed results with newer games. My system is a mutant, though.

Yep, everything is done in software now, again, as far as I can tell. I don't quite know how ALchemy works, but it's supposed to let you enable EAX in games again. I only tried it with Halo PC, and since Halo only allows EAX when acceleration is detected, it still can't be used. Forgot about that, sorry.

So I checked out this "Alchemy" and by golly it worked.

Not only could I use Harware Acceleration but I was able to turn on EAX effects. Hurrah and thanks.

I was afraid that neither option would make a huge difference as the sound seemed to be just fine, but boy was I wrong.

The echos in the large caves are especially cool. :)
