You might have seen the comic Machinima PGL, but they did have arather interesting concept nailed down.

Since Halo Multiplayer games actually do the loading while you're still in the game lobby, why not render either a dropship inside (Pelican, Phantom) or De-con room or ODST drop pods even, while in the lobby? You could see other players there while they join the game too. Maybe to a certain point, depending on performance, maybe even allow players to navigate in that environment depending on it's size.

I doubt it would be very heavy on performance if it were part of the game. Mechassault 2 did it as well. Besides, that IP (Mech Warrior) is also owned by Microsoft and published by them too, so all it would take is a little asking for specs and implementation methods.

Something like this could dramatically increase the life of the game, immersion factor for players and offer something to look around in to mask the already minimal loading times. I think we could sacrifice 1-2 seconds for this.

What do you think?

Forgive your enemies but remember their names.

sounds cool but tbh i would rather them just focus on a good story and multiplayer than waste all that time making something like this if it only lasts a few seconds in game even if it is pretty cool. Know what I mean?

Of course. And I agree. However, if they have time while doing internal testing sessions or the like, this could be looked at I think.

Obviously, the game is pretty far in production if it's scheduled to come out next year, and open beta on it's way in only a couple months, but depending on what's left to be done and between squeezing in easter eggs and skulls, I imagine there's some time in there for new features.

Meh. You never know.
