(Note: Before I begin, I do not want any blindfolded, mindless, Halo fanboys(Or girls) squeakers replying to this thread, unless they are sensible, and also please try to understand at least 90% of the long specifics I am posting on this thread before replying, stating your opinion(s), otherwise I suggest you save your electricity bills and go find some "fake" Halo: Reach vids. And it would be nice if a Bungie employee saw this[And no, I am NOT bragging].:))
Ok so here my list's
1. Campaign
1a. Storyline-
Not much to demand for Reach, since I prefer to play a game without knowing 25% of it's storyline and I liked the surprises. I just hope it's storyline isn't as screwed as Halo 2, 3 and Wars did. Halo: CE was sweet and ODST's story was also surprisingly sweeter than Halo 3 itself, but Combat Evolved is still the best. And also, if it's epic, there should be epic stuff to potray it.
1b. Gameplay-
All Halo FPS games were great, but gameplay wise, Halo: Combat Evolved still beat every of it's successors in terms of Campaign gameplay, so if Bungie used the same formula as they did in Halo: CE, Reach would be a success. What is that "formula"? Well, the "formula" was the "Long and somewhat tiring Campaign". Yes, despite a little more repetitive environments than others, one key fact Halo: CE was a huge success because "Campaign" felt as if it was a "REAL Campaign", not just some game mode to kill aliens in sweet but short styles. ODST had a good mix of gameplay variants, like how you experience gameplay from the Rookie and the difference from his squadmates hours earlier. If Reach had sweet Campaign missions like those in ODST, Halo 2 and 3, but yet they are as long as majority of Halo: CE's, it would be great.
1c. Music score-
I will let Martin do his magic but I wish at least one piece sounds as epic and somewhat similar as Clint Mansell's "Requiem for a Tower", if any of you know that epic music that plays in trailers like Lord of the Rings.
2. Firefight-
2a. Gameplay-
Generally ODST's FF gameplay were great, but sometimes got boring due to repetitive enemies. Ever notice how in wave 1, no Brute, Engineer, Hunter or Drone shows up, and in wave 2, still no Brute or Engineer or Drone, and wave 3 hell slowly gives samples of itself? Well although I agree tougher enemies should always be saved best for last, but where's the variety? I have never, seen Brutes, Jackals, Engineers, Grunts, Drones and Hunters in one single wave before. No joke. So if there's more added mix in the first few sets, Firefight becomes more unpredictable and thus more fun. And I am not 100% begging for a matchmaking system in Firefight.
2b. Skulls-
Yes. Tough Luck is fine, but why isn't Thunderstorm inside? It's a moderately effective skull I feel it shouldn't have been left out no matter what......
Tilt- It's an Okay skull, but I felt it should be slightly less effective at reducing bullet particles' damage. Catch is -blam!-. Formerly a grunt had a frequency of throwing a grenade of about 10 secs. With Catch on, it now wants to throw 4 grenades in 10 secs. I would apperciate if it just wants to throw 3 grenades in 10 secs instead, slightly less irratating would help me. Black Eye is ok, but I feel the stamina recharge should have been instant, upon punching an enemy...... As for Mythic, I don't want enemies to have 2x more health. It's too hard. 1.75x more health seems more appropriate. Famine-It's also ok, but I hope the effectiveness is 1.5x less ammo than 2x less ammo. And I am glad Iron is only enabled in bonus rounds.
2c. Maps-
I don't mind them being campaign-based but I MIND if they are just the EXACT same terrain as those in Campaign. Nevertheless, I wished there are more human ammo weapons in the FF maps. Example in a large open-area map like ODST's Security Zone, where I think 2 stacks of weaponry, containing SMGs, Pistols and grenades, but can't there be an additional couple of Assault Rifles nearby? 2 Machinegun turrets at least are crucial, and at least 3 power weapons, Rocket Launcher, Shotgun, Sniper Rifle or Spartan Laser. And as for layout of maps, I prefer bigger maps, and I hope they won't end up with tight spaces like in the map Chasm Ten, and to make things worse the map has too much scenery to avoid grenades when the Catch skull is on.
3. Multiplayer-
3a. Matchmaking-
Please, set party-splitting only social playlists and non-party-splitting ones. And improve search systems for the better. And also, the lag issue, please, can't we have options to search for people in our region, rather than searching for people on the other side of the world and either you or the other-side-of-the-world players get Host and good connection to the game, it's unfair and almost always happen to me in H3 matchmaking. And also, if a playlist is meant to be 4v4, give no chances for us to find a 3v3 match instead, please.
3b. MP Beta-
No wishlist for this as of now.
3c. Maps-
Crucial thing. It must have good aesthetics, and please, it mustn't end up like Guardian where there's so many cool above-the-map jump-and-camp spots. It's cool in terms of map, but in terms of gameplay, camping on these areas are -blam!-. The map must have a good diversity of weapons, and non-vehicle and/or vehicle light maps mustn't have so many power weapons, as it will result more of a whoever-controls-the-power-weapons-confirm-wins. As for Vehicle-moderate and vehicle-heavy maps, I wish to see more vehicles and a good diversity of them, like Halo 3's current 4 "Heavy maps", but they mustn't respawn too fast though and no tanks on medium-large sized maps like Valhalla, Avalanche and Sandtrap suits their presence though. And also, get a good variety of anti-vehicle weapons, and make sure they are effective and they don't take too long to respawn, but neither too fast either.
3d. Forge-
I am sure Bungie has learned from the community how to improve Forge, so I am just currently guessing here on how awesome it will be.
4. Threater-
4a. Campaign-
Please, give us the rewind, foward and backward options or else it's hard to capture the moment we wanted to capture. Rather than making us browse through 1 hour 13 mins and 41 secs film to find and capture a screenshot for a chance in a screenshot contest.
4b. Cutscenes-
Seriously, why wasn't this in ODST? Halo Wars did a great job of allowing us to watch cutscenes at a lobby, rather than going into a mission and watch, and finish a damn-long mission to just watch an epic ending cutscene all over again.....
4c. Memory-
I once forgot to record a Ghost Killtacular and when I browse through my recent films, it was lost and deleted by just 1 slot. Damn. I wish we can have up to 30 recent films memory. And is it my console or what? All recent films are deleted when you switched over to a different game. This didn't happened before till like TU 2 or something. Don't allow it to happen in Reach's recent film memory.
So yea, that was a long post. Feel free to take your time and state your opinions, and I prefer more civil ones to unpleasant, -BLAM! ones. Thanks for your time for reading this!
