Keep the red flag flying high
Coz Man United will never die!

Do you think Bungie made ODST because it wanted to see the responses to a different type of game. Maybe Reach will be similar to ODST with a bit more of a free roam aspect to the campaign.

I can't believe I got warm by a fire fed with my manuscript. What a nightmare.

I don't want to play as a SPARTAN. I want to play as someone else and see the SPARTANs in all their glory from a third-person perspective. That would be awe-striking.

That would be terrible.

No, it would be great. In the books, the Spartans are like Sasquatch. They're almost mythical, except for those who have the clearance to be around them. Even after they were revealed to the public, they were still these legendary figures that could take on a thousand Covenant alone and kill every last one of them. It would be awe-inspiring to fight as a regular marine, and watch the Spartans fight like the monsters they are.

You could still be a Spartan and watch the other spartans go ninja gaiden on the covies' -blam!-s

EA games could also make a football games where you control a spectator in the crowd. By pressing the A button you wave your flag, and pressing the B button causes you the cheer for your team, X makes you jeer the other team, Y is used to call over a snack vendor and you use the shoulder buttons to eat.

It would be so amazing to watch those football players do their thing, who would want to take control of that raw power? Its incomprehendable.

We are playing as Spartans in Reach. This has been confirmed. You will see how powerful and legendary the spartans are by the things you do with your very hands. Believe in yourself.

That analogy isn't even close to being accurate. I have to be frank, I've played every Halo, and beyond the first game, nothing seemed "amazing." I've grown tired of playing as a super-soldier, and if you're correct about playing as Spartans in Reach, I'm very disappointed. ODST proved that they don't have to make us unstoppable to make an enjoyable game.

It's a much more "out of the box" idea than a majority of what I've seen. I had to throw it in somewhere.

I don't mean a game where your character feels constantly belittled by SPARTANs for the entire campaign. Just something where you can catch a glimpse from another person's perspective at these larger-than-life figures. I mean, we've been playing AS them for almost a decade but we haven't actually seen them from a different viewpoint. In ODST you get to play a game in the same universe where a lot of the benefits of being a SPARTAN are removed. But even ODST didn't offer that perspective.

ODST did offer a different perspective on the war on Earth in general though. And that was what I liked about it the most. It would be interesting to expand on an idea like that and it would illustrate the importance that SPARTANs played in the Human/Covenant War.

Its the first time we will see a squad of spartans in action. They wouldn't miss an opportunity like that just to make a "Halo 3: ODST 2: Reach"

  • 10.14.2009 10:46 AM PDT

lol Everyone talking about how awesome the Spartans are as If we haven't been playing as a Spartan for 3 games now. I liked the older ideas of playing as both ODST and Spartan then you get all the good guy perspectives. You can be the BA's and watch the BA's.

BUT what I actually think is gonna happen is it's gonna be ODST with Spartans.

That's exactly my point. Not being an overpowered supersoldier on mythic proportions offered more obstacles. You had this sense of like "Wow... I have to look at my situations and make the best of them a little better and not just run through and obliterate every enemy in the game." It was more rewarding in the end.

But since we're confirmed as being SPARTANs in Reach, at least it takes place before a lot of the advancements in the MJOLNIR itself were made, which would offer a different challenge than we're used to.

BTW Elites rule!

And I am probably just trolling you right now....especially if it is a controversial thread

there wasn't much free roam in odst... which sucked...but i hope reach has that and much more brought to the table
