Subject: Pre-game Lobby Mini-game

You know the down time when youre searching for a game or for another player or whatnot? Sometimes it takes quite a while.. anyways, wouldnt it be nice to have a little mini-game while waiting?

Something like target practice on a bunch of grunts, race a mongoose over some huge jumps, or "shoot the rockets through the hoops" or something along those lines. Something simple that wouldnt cause any lag or longer wait times for your searches. There could even be medals and top scores that are tracked on b.net.

KillerPGR suggested Halo Trivia. I love this idea. If the more advanced games, like I mentioned, couldnt work, trivia about the Halo Canon would be awesome. M/C questions that you could go through and answer allowing you to learn more about the game as you wait. I like.

Could be fun.

That would be AWESOME. You could call them "Grunt Hunt", "Trickster", and "Ring-splosion!".

Sounds like a pretty cool idea, although that is what a computer is for. :P

Rock + Metal = Life
Simple math

Sounds fun, but I don't want a matchmaking search while waiting for another search :P

Xbox 360 = computer

And having to play a game on a seperate computer seems kind of like overkill doesnt it? Sort of a waste of time.. plus it would be more fun if Halo related.

Whats the other search? The mini-game would load immediately.

you say you want it without lag but in reality that would be hard to do. For one thing it is still trying to search while you play your "game". That "game" would slow down the search and make it take even longer. Also, while it is doing this searching for players thing they also will be playing this game slowing down their search and in total everyone's. So I personally don't think it would be a very good idea for a mini game.

Why would it slow the matchmaking game search down? They would be completely disconnected. The games are premade and load instantly. They would be small, short games that wouldnt have to load over the internet. They come on the disc.

I mean even something simple like tic tac toe would be better than sitting there staring at the tv screen waiting on the game to start.

Yes they come on the disc, but think about this your xbox is running a game that is already executing a search and at the same time running a game within a game which no matter what you believe it is loading constantly every movement and avery reaction that takes place whether it be a grunt running because you are shooting at it or an explosion. So all that i am saying is that you cannot have a game that loads all of that before you do it therefore giving your Xbox two things to load: mini-game and player search.

This is 2009, not 1981. It can handle it.

true but in 1981 they were not loading these kind of graphics so think about that comment.

True as well. Trivia idea is really good.

Multiple choice questions about the Canon would be awesome! And it would definitely not cause lag.

  • 10.14.2009 6:06 PM PDT

there is a thing called disc space.

  • 10.14.2009 6:13 PM PDT

Yeah.. and? THIS, of all things in the Halo game, THIS would be what would take up too much space?? REALLY?!

A real test of a man is if he is willing to scrape a sharpened razor up and down his junk just to please a woman.
