I've heard that ODST was a "side project" with the main team of programmers working hard on Reach. If this is true, then how long has Reach been in development?

LMGTFY Edit: "Day to day life hasn't changed that much. We've been super-busy, obviously. We've finally been able to announce Halo: Reach, which has been in development right since the end of Halo 3."

My name is from Star Wars. Now you know.

Feel free to follow me on my twitter and stalk me.

I believe it started shortly after Halo 3's release. So 2 years so far, and about 3 when released. I think

War, War never changes.

Got my Recon from the Vidmaster achievments, like most.
Reach IS awesome, don't deny it

About the same amount of time between Halo 2's release and Halo 3's

Was just gonna say. Basically you just wanted someone to do simple math for you lol.

"Hmm...Halo 3 was released then...so how many years has it been now? Anyone?"

The quote that I edited into my OP was after I created the thread. But thank you for the sarcasm.

Do realize that prototyping counts as development. Prototyping is the first stage of developing a game where all the major gameplay mechanics are outlined and planned and the technologies needed to run them are prototyped and tested to see if it will work and if it is feasible. Most of that went after Halo 3 came out. Its not like they have been full on programming the game for two years now.
