I'll be brief and simple on how this may work. Feel free to give your thoughts.

-Hold down the RB and LB buttons at the same time
-Lasts for 2 seconds
-Has a 20 second cooldown
-Cannot fire weapon, grenades, equipment, or melee
-Weapon goes on back, making it take a whole second to use it again after done sprinting
-Cannot perform sprint while carrying an objective (flag, ball)
-Available in both campaign and multiplayer

I think this adds more flavor into a game. Some things such as trying to find cover or getting out of the open quickly would make this idea work. Also this would make going against snipers and lazers more fair on large maps since it would take some effort to hit you.

So what do you think?

I saw that coming but I just wanted to share something. I don't think it would cause any harm.

No, dont get me wrong.. Id love it.. but the majority here will literally flame you out of the forum for suggesting anything that has ever been done by any other game in the history of games.

Sucks.

A real test of a man is if he is willing to scrape a sharpened razor up and down his junk just to please a woman.

More than just two seconds...

  • 10.14.2009 6:23 PM PDT

This would change alot. I'm sure they'd have to go back and recalibrate the damage a warthog does to a person running, and change the physics around for if you get shot in the head while running...I think it'd be weird... In Halo your already moving pretty fast as it is. But then again maybe 2 seconds of running would work, i mean we all remember that commercial where master chief sprinted, threw down a bubble shield, and jumped in it.

I was thinking it was just a momentarily thing. If it was around say 5 or more, everybody would be using that just to get their way around.

I actually thought that you ran fairly slow in H2 and H3, in CE you were alot faster. It just seemed silly that Master Chief can run fast in cutscenes but in the game he is limited to a certain speed.

Their Spartans, more like running for 2 hours.

We all know that :P. That would just be too much for a player since Spartans would be just jumping and running around everywhere in MM. The reason why it should be short.

Eh, I don't know. A sprint function would be nice for moving fast, but only if your weapon goes down and you can't just stop and instantly fire. It would take a second for you to reorient your weapon, and that should be represented.

I'd like this. Dodging would be much easier. I don't know about you but I feel like an idiot everytime I jump around in a futile attempt to "dodge" any bullets being shot at me. The only other way to take cover or get to it would be equipment but who uses that? lol

Good point. I'll add that your weapon will be 'unsheathed' when sprinting so it will take a second to withdrawl it again.

I also think you'd have to allow more then two seconds unless you ran at mach five suddenly... probably five or six seconds would be reasonable. With a ten second cooldown?

Lol I noticed that too. Your Spartan would rather jump up and down instead of sprint to evade bullets ,XD its currently so odd.

good idea but it needs a better button than RB and LB

I don't want to see running because I know for a fact that when it lags, everyone and their mother will be screaming.

If equipment doesn't return then it can be X

Doc: "i'm a pacifist"
Caboose: "your a thing that babies suck on?"
Tucker: "no dude, that's a pedephile"
Church: "tucker, i think he means a pacifier"

I've wanted a sprint function since I read FoR and saw how fast Spartans actually are. It makes no sense to me that their mobility is so restricted.

what about like ONI where you double tap forward to sprint and maybe double right or left to dodge roll.

lol. You make a good point, but I don't see much screaming over the speed of warthogs and ghosts due to lag, which are by far faster than my so-called "sprint mode"

that is because a hovercraft or rolling wheels are not as complex as leg animations. its a lot of moving things at once then its a lot of fast moving things at once when you sprint

Maybe the Spartan can take large, leaping steps while sprinting so there would be less animation involved.

Do you really care? you can't automatically see my signature anyway.

this has been done a million and one times but yes, there should be a -blam-ing sprint mode. they original h1 players wanted a sprint mode in h2 so we have waited long enough.
