Subject: Should there be a sprint mode?

Jogging at 20 mph isn't good enough huh?

Simply put, if you could sprint, there wouldn't be any use for the warthog or mongongoose as a transport vehicle.

Also, how would this affect capture the flag games?

The normal run speed isn't 20mph. In the campaign you run at the same speed of the Marines, who obviously don't do 20mph by jogging.

You wouldn't go as fast as vehicles anyway. It would even go for 2 seconds so I don't see how it makes vehicles obsolete.

As for objective games (CTF, Oddball, etc), you got me there. Maybe it would just be disabled when carrying the objective.

I'm a big physic nerd. I measured the landspeed of a spartan and compared it to the warthog and mongoose. Mongooses move about about 350% player speed, and their top speed is 96 km / hr, so thats 27 km / hr running speed, which roughly translates into 17 mph running speed. And you don't run as fast as the marines, on the very first mission on Halo 3, when you start the level you are at the end of the chain of the marines, and if you run at full speed you beat the leader to the waterfall by a good twenty seconds or more (never really measured the wait time).

Simply recollecting that in the fiction Kelly can run at 60 kmph. And this was before they got their Mjolnir Armor. But I suppose I skipped over that two second caveat. Meh.

And if someone flag runs?

-Lasts for 2 seconds
-Has a 20 second cooldown

2 seconds? 20 second cool down? Spartans are geneticly enhanced super-soldier, they should be able to run for much longer. Oh and I dont want a sprint mode

1.Arkham Asylum, 2.Mass Effect, 3.Halo CE, 4.Mass Effect 2, 5.Halo 2, 6.Splinter Cell Double Agent, 7.Gears of War 2, 8.Medievil, 9.Oblivion, 10.Crash Team Racing

I'd like to have it realistic. 2 seconds isn't.

A basic sprint shouldn't make me holster my weapon. I should just hold it sideways like I would if I wanted to sprint quickly. You can also shoot while sprinting but it would be like missing a barn with weapon randomly pointing everywhere.

The longer you sprint, the more exhausted you get. Less accuracy, slower loading, less speed and jump height, even less stamina if Reach uses it.

That way you could sprint for up to 10-15 seconds. Is it worth it to get where you want fast if you suck at fighting afterwards? You decide.
