First oof, this topic is TWO ideas in one. These ideas are just my own suggestion and are most definately not going to be in Reach - but whatever. Sorry if these have been came up with already.


*Armor Challanges*

Basicly what this would be is a better approach to unlocking armor permutations. In Halo 3, armor was gotten through campaign achievements. I don't think that was a good idea in the first place since you can't even use them in campaign.

What I suggest is that you be able to unlock the armor perms through multiplayer matches. But these perms would show exactly what kind of player you are. You would unlock them by doing specific things like a number of kills.

Let's say you are the kind of person who always snipes. There would be an armor perm called something like "Sniper" or "Sharpshooter" but would only be available once you had gotten maybe 50 kills with a sniper rifle.

If this was implemented, it would show off what kind of player you are AND you would look super cool.


*Armor Properties*

All this would be is that properties would come along with each helmet. These would add to your character's abilities in multiplayer. There are two different ways this could work:

For the next idea, it affects gameplay and may not be loved by anyone on these forums for making the game unfair

1. It would improve your actual stats. If you had the "Sharpshooter" helmet on, maybe your zoom would be improved by .25x.

The next one is perfectly fine and doesn't affect gameplay

2. It would just be a cool effect when you shoot are melee someone. If you had the "Sharpshooter" helmet on, maybe something like the Grunt Birthday Party confetti would pop out on a headshot.

UPDATE There could be specific playlists for Armor properties #1 since it would affect gameplay. It would give you a choice of whether to play with it or not

Most of the armor in Halo 3 was unlocked in MM. Only EOD, Hayabusa, and EVA were in campaign. And the achievements you need to unlock the armor are the challenges, so they should keep it like that, but add a "Recon"-like armor for Elites.

I don't like the armor properties, I want to use armor that I think looks cool, not gives me advantages. The last thing we need is the "BR" of armor types that makes everyone use the same armor.

Haha I came back and looked at the armor properties #2 and thought about it and... it seems pretty cool! Thatd be awesome with little cool stuff happening during your fight to spice it up.. but not to affect gameplay

If you imagine theese armor properites like they are the weapon properites in Team Fortress 2 than I would be happy to see them in game.
In TF2 all the ne weapons have stregths, but also got weaknesses, so for example "The Backburner" has 100% crit rate from behind, but has no comparsion blast
In Halo i only could imagine the "Sharpshotter helmet" to lets say your example .x25 improved in price of some easier to distinguish color , or let's say you will spor the sniper farther from the radar. It's all about the creators imagination, but I'd be happy to see some features like theese.

I'd love our armor to do different things, more individuality. However, it should be a option to turn on or off in Customs only and certain playlists could allow Armor properties.

Thats a cool idea. It would keep every helmet balanced with itself so it wouldnt hav to balance with every other helmet.

Thats a good idea. Then again its kind of a big thing to implement, so if it wasnt going to be everywhere, they might as well not have it at all. Just armor properties #2 =D

Well taking you idea, here's my ideas for names: Mark 1 is identical to mark two but adds the effect.

All color customizes go along with detail colors. Give's them a purpose.

Not a bad idea, they would have to equalize the spartan and Elite player models though, so either you unlock both the Spartan AND Elite variant after a challenge, or you have to do challenges as both Spartan and Elite to get them all. (I actually like the idea of the latter)

Or the Sniper challenge could be done with the Beam Rifle to complete the Elite Sniper Challenge, you know that kind of thing.

I meant the idea from the first post. Armor would haveto be unlockable for both armor classes.
