Subject: Do You Enjoy Halo 1 More Than Halo 3?

This is the average H2 Fanboy.

50 in H2/H3? Great, but you still fail at this.

It doesnt have the best, it takes a loooong time to matchmake and some playlists are dead.

Yeah. That's right. I don't have a 50 in H3. I never got Onyx in Reach. If a game sucks too much, I won't even bother trying for such trivial "accolades". Besides, I've done way more things that take far more skill and talent than anything that can be done in a video game.

Actually Halo 2 on Xbox had the best multiplayer it brought people from around the world playing. Also, people are still playing.

And lowered the standards of the genre, spawning a bunch of kids who think they're pro when they're actually awful and would get mowed down in any game that takes skill to play.

Sometimes I enjoy it more.

Legendary on Halo 1 is just too fun, whereas Halo 3 is fairly easy, in my opinion.

I did/do enjoy Halo 1 way more than Halo 3.
It was fun all the way around, even if you lost. People actually typed out "good game!" and actually meant it. It wasn't about who was better, it was about how much everyone could relax and have fun.

Plus, I always liked that fact that you could choose a certain map and gametype off the list and play it. Oh, and if someone left the game, it was still open for anyone to join right in.
I love the nostalgia in your post. Every time a person dies, it turns out they were good people regardless of who they were or what they did. Yeah, not so velvet-covered. But don't take it personally, I'm just giving you a hard time.

Damn, it is true Halo 1 was awesome.

What servers are you playing in? I keep finding the ones full of pricks.

Freedom has two parts: potential and resolution; as metaphors have two parts : form and interpretation; of course, the two are intertwined. Metaphor lines the road to freedom, as symbols and words are the bricks and mortar of meaning. Freedom being the briocoleus, the mason.

Less weapons, no equipment, larger maps to explore, all of these things made for a much more simplified and much more fun game. If it came down to what killed halo 2 and halo 3 it would have to be the downscaling (run speed, map size, weapon range) and the overcomplexity introduced by the dual wielding system and halo 3's equipment system.

When playing Halo 1 on my pc multiplayer, it was a much more fun and comfortable environment to play in.Like in Halo3,all i heard were little kids yelling into there mic while in Halo1 players typed, "Well done! :p", "Nice kill" and "Silly me :P"

I agree, with quite a few parts. The Halo 1 campaign was much more difficult than any of the successors, which has been unnecessarily simplified down for the little kids. Don't get me wrong, I still really enjoy Halo 3, but it was too easy to beat the campaign. ODST even more so. I was told the campaign would take six hours on Heroic. I beat it on Legendary in three hours. And the campaign was boring, mostly running through a sparsely populated city, for a few short minutes playing a flashback. And Halo 3 just didn't have the same atmosphere as the original. I hope Reach is a lot better, with a much more complex storyline than ODST and without the simplicities for the 10 year old's that have to beg their parents to get it for them.

And I definitely agree that the Halo 3 multiplayer was killed when it was simplified and made "fairer" for the kids. There's just no skill involved in it any more; spray, pray and hope your auto-aim locks on... And their voices.... :(

If I can recall, AIM ASSISTANCE (aka, Bullet Magnnetism/Auto Aim) was not as strong. They made it stronger in H2, and slightly weaker in H3 to balance it out. Hence, Halo 1 may have seemed harder (C'mon Bungie, give the option of turning off auto aim!)

I played the original Halo campaign multiple times and didn't really play that much multiplayer comparatively, so my love for Halo was in it's campaign.
I didn't really enjoy the campaign of Halo 3. It was good, but I guess as I got older the Halo charm wore off or something.

So on campaign alone I would have to say that I prefer Halo CE.

As for multiplayer, Halo 2 for sure. I spent a sizable chunk of my teenage years playing that game online and have a lot of great memories from it.

And you defend H2's multiplayer? Irony.

You do realize that Halo 2 had stronger aim assist than Halo 3, right?

Not to mention game breaking weapon glitches, homing rockets, unlimited sword charge, PP BR, flag bouncing, superjumping, stand by, modded games and so on.

:) Regardless of the flaws, I still enjoy the multiplayer. And I have noticed that the Halo 2 Autoaim is a lot stronger, especially when you play with a controller. But I don't get many nooby kids on the PC... Just saying. The Halo 1 campaign was definitely the best, but for multiplayer, Halo 3 is still the better out of the trio, if simply because the others weren't so developed. But it really depends on your version of fun.

It does indeed.

Halo 3 multiplayer only feels more developed in the sense that it's noob friendly. It feels like once you reach a certain point, you can't really get much better at it.

The difference between the two is that in Halo 1 you can stand a chance against an entire team, 8v1, if you're good enough while in Halo 3 you'll be lucky to survive two players spraying an AR in your general direction.

As for autoaim, HPC doesn't have any. No self respecting PC FPS does. Coming to think of it, H2PC might actually be the first ever PC FPS with autoaim.

The thing i don't understand about the Halo 3:ODST campaign was how if your player picked up a clue,he went to a flashback that he didn't even go to.A flashback is a vision from a past location you were in or memory. So WTF!!?!?!?

  • 11.03.2009 9:29 PM PDT

It's not the Rookie that is having the flashback, it's you the player is going through the flash back

  • 11.03.2009 10:38 PM PDT

But you still haven't been there. Its a silly story line any way.

Halo3 is still an enjoyable game sometimes but i still think Halo 1 is the best. HALO 1 FTW!!!

We don't all consider Halo 3 to be an improvement.
thats your opinion, I can look at every aspect of Halo 3 and see improvements.

melee system?
plasma weapons?
campaign?

halo 1 kicked ass and still kicks ass today!

Sometimes I wonder... would Halo 1 still kick the same if they upgraded the Halo 1 graphics and completely redid it to H3/ODST style etc?

If they kept the gameplay the same, sure. I'd welcome that. ;)

  • 11.05.2009 4:07 PM PDT

Yeah i mean just as long as the multiplayer and campiagn stay the same, im all for it.I mean the graphics aren't great so it could do with a touch up.

Every Friday, at 4:30 P.M. after work and schooling a friend and I do a Halo 3 matchmaking marathon for a couple of hours. I have to say I've gotten really friendly with Halo 3 despite the fact I don't own an XBox and never will, but I have too many good memories on Halo 1 to forget any of that. I enjoy Halo 1 the most, by far.

  • 11.06.2009 1:58 AM PDT

Even though i hate the delay in halo 1 pc i still manage to enjoy it more than halo 3 :D

Wrong, although it was a port it featured a different game engine. Aim assistance code could have easily been removed or reduced.
