While daydreaming of what Halo: Reach will be like, I started a side story in my head.

The game is called Halo: Rogues. It follows the story of a few spartans and marines who have decided to abandon the UNSC in search of power, yes you will be fighting against fellow Spartans. The play style will vary during gameplay, between Halo/Cod: Modern Warfare/Metal Gear Solid.

In the begining you start at a secret UNSC base and the alarms are going off, the Rogue Spartans and Marines are leaving and taking precious intel and advanced technology.

As the story continues eventually you will be captured on a mission, stripped of your armor and held prinsoner. Here is where the gameplay will shift to a kind of ODST/ Metal Gear Solid style. While escaping you will have to use stealth to avoid fighting a few dozen Spartans and Marines.

How is this a prequel (Legendary Ending of Course).... well as the story continues the Rogue Spartans have stolen intel that was just received about the Covenant and in an attempt to join them and their cause, they have sent a deep space message to them. This gets the attention of the Covenant and there leads to HALO: THE FALL OF REACH

Unfortunatly Canon says no..

If I remember reading right the covanent found Reach because the prophet of truth used the forerunner dreadnaught to find forerunner technology and a pice was on the planet..

that might not be the right one..

maybe,

A ship escaping another planet jumped to Reach and led the covenent to the planet..

Look... I'm on bungiepedia!

What if instead of rogue Spartans (which would never have happened), one of the main rebel factions hijacks shares of the illegal drugs used to augment the child-soldiers.

They could then have made their own, of course shoddier, versions of the Spartans, which would most likely be less professional and conventional than the normal Spartans, but on the same level of physical and mental giftedness.
