Fan-Fiction: The Human-Covenant War, Without The Great Schism. Story of how the war would have been if The Great Schism never happened.

Chapter Seven: Turning Point:

The Gravemind hated the position he was in. He had to make himself as small as he can to fit in the only hanger bay that wasn't decimated.

As long as he was on, he was happy, and in just a few seconds, the fun would begin.

"We only have one shot, due to the dangerous molecular activites of the SlipSpace Engine." 2401 Pentinent Tangent confirmed. "With this in mind, there is a ten percent chance we will miss High Charity by mere inches. If this happens, the Covenant will know this ship is still operational, and will most likely destroy it."

The Gravemind thought about this for a second, and let it go. "Just take me to High Charity.", he said in an impatient tone.

"Aye." Was Tangents response. "The trip will only last a second, commencing in five seconds."

Five seconds later, the Gravemind felt his body push back, and then stop. Nothing happened. The Gravemind feared they missed High Charity.

He screamed at Tangent, who was now floating infront of him. "We are in High Charity.... floating through the city, we will crash into the far side of High Charity in just a moment. Luckily for you, the ship will crash just over a platform. (If you don't know what I am talking about, the ship crashes into the same place as where it crashed into Halo 2.)

The Gravemind ordered the flood minions that came with him to grab a Pelican. This would be an all out infestation.

The ship finally crashed, and he ordered Tangent to open the hanger bay doors.

They opened, and he looked out. In front of him was the massive city of High Charity.

The Gravemind screamed a victory roar. "RAHHHHHHHHHHH! THE FINAL HOUR HAS FINALLY CAME!!"

The Pelicans started to fly out. There were about a hundred that could still be flown.

Under the Gravemind was the platform Tangent was talking about. He would use that to climb into the city.

He finally climbed out, with Tangent floating around behind him.

He landed from the two hundred foot drop, and created a crater. He looked infront of him.

Elites, Jackals, Brutes, all terrifired and unmoving.

One finally got back into motion, and shot at the Gravemind.

He laughed at how weak the Plasma was, and used one of his tentacles to quickly grab the Elite.

The Elite struggled, and he squeezed. The Elite exploded into pieces.

The Gravemind then let out the hundreds of infectious forms he had waiting inside his body.

"Run my sons..... Fiest forever!" He told his minions in an eager tone.

The Covenant on the Platform were soon overwhelmed. The Gravemind looked up to see a large wave of Pelicans descend to the city.

After having everything but him and his minions dead on the platform, he ordered them to hop on to him and hold on.

He jumped off the platform, to the city waiting hundreds of feet below.

After about twenty seconds of freefall, he used all of his tentacles to form a shield around his head, so as soon as he landed, he wouldn't implode.

He landed, and a massive crater formed. The streets went upward and formed a wave. Buildings flew and crumbled, along with people and vehicles. This spread for a few hundred feet.

The Gravemind unwrapped his tentacles, which most were damaged. He was just glad his walking tentacles weren't damaged.

"Where do you plan on going now?" 2401 Tangent asked uneasily.

"I shall go to the Control Room, which from the Elites I have devoured earlier to gain the information, is in the Spire of High Charity, which is in the exact middle of the City." The Gravemind answered.

"And what do you plan on doing if you succeed?"

The Gravemind lol'd. "You shall find out soon enough."

Tangent was irritated. He hated being left out of information, but sadly, he would have to wait. He didn't want to make the Gravemind mad, because it would crush him. Tangent witnessed an oracle such as himself being squeezed to death by the Gravemind because it wouldn't shutup.

Tangent personally would rather live then die, although technically it wasn't "alive".

The Gravemind looked beyond at the now flattened piece of city he was by.

Suddenly, 100 ghosts and a dozen banshees went out into the open, and opened fire on the Gravemind.

He used some of his tentacles as shields, but they were quickly dissolved by the high number of Plasma being shot at him.

He took his largest non walking tentacle, and smashed it down on the Ghosts, who were in one large group. The impact crushed a large majority of the Ghosts, and the rest flew in the air.

One Ghost somehow flew in the air at him. He opened his large mouth, and timed it right so he would crush the Ghost at the tip of his mouth.

The Elite driving the Ghost was instantly killed. The Gravemind spat out the Ghost and Elite.

A Banshee near him shot a green blob of Plasma at him, which created a hole in the Gravemind's head.

He screamed, and grabbed the Banshee with a tentacle, and whipped it at another.

Both Banshees exploded on impact, and the debris hit another, causing it to crash into the ground.

The Gravemind sent a message to his minions. "Sons, if there is anyone with an armed Pelican, please come to me, I will need your defense."

After about a minute of recieving fire from the Banshees, two armed Pelicans arrived, and took down the Banshees.

Overhead, the Gravemind saw five Phantom heading his way. His Pelicans saw them as well, and opened fire. One Phantom exploded in mid air. The others finally got close enough for the Gravemind to hit them.

The four remaining Phantoms concentrated fire on one of the Pelicans, and it went down to the ground, exploding on impact.

The remaining Pelican fired at the Phantom's engines, causing it to explode in mid air.

The Gravemind grabbed one of the Phantoms, and whipped it into another, causing one to explode and one to crash to the ground.

The Pelican flew over the crashed Phantom, and dropped a few dozen infectious forms in and around the crashed Phantom.

The Pelican, now heavily damaged from the Phantom, decided to crash into the Phantom. The Pelican exploded, and the Phantom started to have blue plasma coming out of it.

Before impact, all flood forms on the Pelican jumped out, and landed on the ground, undamaged. Except for one.

A Carrier form landed on it's head, and exploded, releasing just a few infectious forms due to the fact that it didn't have time to make more.

The Gravemind looked up at the damaged Phantom that could barely maintain it's altitude, and grabbed it. He slowly put the Phantom down on the ground, and kept it there. He would let his minions have it.

He was getting tired of this, and decided to finally walk deeper into the city.

He has been in the city for half an hour, and is already damaged. "I must make this quick and easy.", he thought to himself.

***********************************

The Arbiter saw a parked Ghost, and grabbed it. The Parasites were here, and he knew there would be no way to stop them.

It's been an hour since they've arrived, and already the city was slowly being overcome by them.

The Arbiter should have died a few times already. He had already stolen three Ghosts, all of which had been destroyed.

His first was destroyed because one of the Human flying ships crashed by him, causing a wave to form, sending him and his Ghost flying through the air.

The second was destroyed by what the Arbiter presumed was the leader of the Parasite.

It grabbed the Arbiter's Ghost, and he cut the tentacle that was holding him with his sword. The Ghost was damaged from the grip of the tentacle, and malfunctioned.

The Arbiter got off of it just before it exploded. He ran away, and expected to be grabbed by one of the tentacles. He was, however, saved by a group of Seraph Fighters that unintentionally distracted the leader of the Parasites from him.

The Arbiter knew the leader would be bad, but not this bad. It is too big, even for him, to kill by himself. He wondered how the Demon would fare against it.

The third Ghost was killed by himself. It wouldn't work, so the Arbiter threw a Plasma Grenade at it.

The Arbiter finally jumped back into reality, away from his thoughts, and started up the Ghost. He looked behind him, and in the distance, could see the leader Parasite. It was like an invincible mission, coordinating attacks, trampling over everything it saw.

The Arbiter had one goal, and that was to leave the city. The Arbiter knew about the location of the only stealth Phantom in High Charity. It was near the district called Infinitive Heaven. (The place I am talking about is easy to see. In Halo 2, the level Gravemind, where you can see the city, its by the Forerunner ship on the right side by the sky scrapers from Chief's Vision.)

He was about ten minutes away from it, if he kept going with this ghost.

The leader Parasite however, was slowly starting to get closer......

"Find The Bomb?!
Find The Bomb?!
I'm Looking For The Flag!
What The Heck Is Assualt!?"

I don't particularly read fanatic fictions, but anyways:

The main thing I noticed, I didn't read it as I said before, but rather lightly skimmed it and I noticed something disturbing to me.

In the first two parts ever paragraph started with "martin" or "zilf" (And by the way, Zilf does not sound like an elite name, more like a grunt).

And then I looked at the first word of every sentence, it all had the same predicament.

"Zilf Picked up the energy sword"

You can't start every sentence with Zilf, it sounds like when little kinds use then to tell all their stories.

  • 10.17.2009 9:27 AM PDT

Oh my God Buggy, WTF. I've known you for nearly a year and you still won't touch one of my fan fictions. But you decide to read some random one?

I'm wounded.

Fan-Fiction: The Human-Covenant War, Without The Great Schism. Story of how the war would have been if The Great Schism never happened.

Part 2 of Chapter Seven: Turning Point:

"No no no!!! Please tell me this isn't true." R'tas cried into the screen. An Elite named Zugf was showing a live video feed of High Charity being attacked by the Parasite.

"Sir, It's been about an hour since they've arrived."

R'tas looked at the destruction, and started to worry about Zugf's safety. He was a little too close to the action.

"I would highly advise you try and get away from the destruction. Perhaps-----"

"No.... I must keep showing the Covenant what is happening, or else no one will know the true story..." Zugf cut in before R'tas could finish.

"But you have show us enough... Please, leave High Charity."

"No, I haven't, I shall show you everything!" Zugf yelled at R'tas.

R'tas shook his head, and whispered to himself. We already know... and yet he won't leave.... He thinks he will be a hero by recording everything.....

A scream came from the screen, and R'tas and everyone in the bridge looked up.

The screen showed the camera falling, and hitting the ground, facing up. There was a tenticle surrounding Zugf, and Zugf struggled to escape.

Everyone gasped and Zugf dissolved a little. His skin started to turn a sickly brown and he stopped struggling. Finally, he was dropped.

He was now one of them.

The last thing the camera before it shutoff saw was the leader Parasite smashing through the streets.

*******************************

The Gravemind looked behind him at the city that he has passed so far. Thousands of feet behind him were now flood controlled territories, which were quickly expanding.

From the information his minions gave him, they had thousands of Phantoms, awaiting orders.

He thought for a second, and decided the fastest way to gain control over the city was to spread over two places at once.

He ordered his Phantoms to fly to the other side to start taking over over there.

"Good news." Tangent started, "At the rate you are moving, you will be in the middle of the city in just another hour!"

The Gravemind growled. An hour seemed like an eternity to him.

On his right and left was a long wave of his minions, trampling through the city.

Tangent told him a few minutes ago that twenty-five percent of the city was now his, and that the rate would go up faster and faster as he conquered more of the city.

He took note that the air attacks stopped, and there was less resistance.

He saw a large group of houses, and decided to smash over them. Covenant civilians tried to run away from their now damaged homes, but were quickly swarmed, and converted.

He yelled out "Please..... make this easier on yourselves! Come to me, for an eternal life full without sins! Come to me for Mercy!"

He noticed that some of them actually believed him. He stopped moving, and in front of him, hundreds of civilians were lined up in the streets, waiting to be converted.

A Grunt dressed in robes ran across the street, yelling to everyone "Do not believe him! The parasites lie!"

The Gravemind was annoyed by this, and grabbed the Grunt.

It tried to squeeze out of the tentacles grip, but to no avail. The Gravemind laughed, and just barely squeezed. The Grunt exploded, and the civilians below cheered, just before a large wave of infectious forms jumped on them.

He thought to himself, "This may actually be easier than I thought..."

****************************

R'tas had to make an important decision. Should he destroy High Charity, or invade it and try and save it?

R'tas also asked this question over the intercom, and no one could think of an answer.

He had to think soon.....

*************************************

The Arbiter was just a few minutes away from where he though the Phantom would be. Behind him, he heard a distant crash. He looked, and in the distance, saw a Phantom on the ground.

He looked up, and saw thousands of Phantoms flying over heard. Some started to nose dive into the ground, crashing at random places.

A Phantom crashed a few meters away from the Arbiter. The shockwave caused the Ghost to flip, sending the Arbiter flying.

He hit a building, and was dazed for a few seconds. He got back up, and looked at the Phantom.

It was broken beyond repair, and there were Parasites slowly crawling out of the wrecked Phantom.

The Arbiter screamed, and threw two of his four Plasma Grenades at the Phantom.

The Grenades exploded, sending burnt pieces of metal and flesh flying outward.

More and more Parasites were crawling out, and the Arbiter ran by the Phantom, and activated his Plasma Sword.

A Combat form hit the Arbiter in the back. He turned around, but was punched in the face.

He tasted blood, and screamed at the Parasite, who lunged at him again. This time, Thel was ready, and rolled out of the way, leaving a leg in front of the converted Elite. The Elite tripped, and Thel drove his sword deep into the Parasites chest effortlessly.

The converted Elite stopped moving.

Thel turned around, and looked a the dozen or so infectious forms.

"I have no time for this...", Thel thought, and quickly started to run off.

Now that his ride was damaged, he had to run the whole way. He would be there in about fifteen minutes.

He ran into an alley way, and heard a crunch noise.

Thel activated his flashlight, and looked at the source of the noise.

A group of infectious forms surrounded a Brute, all fighting to take over it.

Thel bumped into a garbage can, and they all looked at Thel.

Thel didn't want to attract any attention, so he slowly moved away from them.

Thel and the infectious forms never took eyes off each other until they were both away from striking distance.

Thel quickly ran out of the Alley way into a street, bodies lay littered on the street, both flood and covenant bodies.

Thel heard his feet vibrated, and looked around to see what was the cause of the vibration. To his left, he saw a group of Scarabs coming his way. Thel ran into the Alley way, and ran up the stairs to leading to the top of a cloths shop.

After a minute of running, he finally got to the top. His jaw's dropped.

There was an army of Scarabs making their way into the parasite controlled half of High Charity. There were easily thousands of them.

In the distance, Thel saw the leader Parasite. He was almost as tall as too Scarabs stacked ontop of each other.

Thel felt a tear form, and shook his head. The Scarabs were going to lose, no doubt. This was going to be High Charity's last stand.

Thel had to get out of High Charity, and quickly. He did not want to be part of the ensuing battle that was about to occur.

Lol yeah Buggy, I'm still coming out of retirement, but yes, I'm sorry about the whole Zilf thing and yeah, but I totally forgot about pronouns, no joke lol.

Now I'm trying to use pronouns way more, kind of feels weird to use them.

No, acnboy. Spartain Ken 15 is a lesser being. Much like the bacteria that lives in your shit.

My shit bacteria takes offense to that comparison.

Don't make me lel. You won't like me when I lel.

Ah, there is an improvement, but still a little more must be done on those pronouns.

Nice chapter. Flood FTW.

"Find The Bomb?!
Find The Bomb?!
I'm Looking For The Flag!
What The Heck Is Assualt!?"

In general I suggest being more descriptive, it sounded a little repetitive as it did before

"The arbiter threw his plasma grenades"

"he hit the combat form"

Sub-clauses are our friends.

"He brayed and thrust his arm into the combat form, passing through the rotting carcass and out the other side"

Ok, I elaborated a little too much on that one... but you get the idea.

At Wolvers

I love you too

Fan-Fiction: The Human-Covenant War, Without The Great Schism. Story of how the war would have been if The Great Schism never happened.

Chapter Seven(Part 3): Turning Point

After a few more minutes of running, Thel finally got to where he was. He almost wanted to just drop on the floor and cry joyfully.

He finally got to the stealth phantom.

He ran up to it, and tapped a few buttons. The small hanger bay doors opened, and he jumped inside it.

After fiddling with the controls, he finally got it flying and up above the city.

A message on his screen appeared, telling him to reply quickly. He pressed a few buttons, and a live feed of R'tas came.

"Thel, brother!", R'tas cried out. "I am glad you are still alive, where are you!"

"In the only stealth phantom in High Charity.", He replied wearily.

"Hmm....", R'tas thought for a moment. "Everyone is dying to see what is going on in High Charity..... Can you show us a live feed on what's going on?"

"Yes.... But your not going to like what your about to see."

With that, Thel tapped in a few holograms, and R'tas dissapeared, and the main view came back, showing High Charity. He was a few hundred feet above the streets, and from his altitude, he could see the thousands of Scarabs go to the middle of the city, where the Forerunner Dreadnought used to be.

Although he couldn't see R'tas anymore, he could hear him and whoever was with him gasp.

The parasite side of the city was on fire. Many red and blue spots filled their side of High Charity, along with the brownish fog that began to form. On the other side of High Charity, it looked somewhat peaceful. There was the occasional fire from a crashed Phantom every few blocks, but other than that, it was peaceful. There was also the craters that formed from the legs of the Scarabs.

Thel zoomed in the view screen on the battle. Hundreds of long green lines of plasma raced to the parasite side. On the parasite side, it looked as if a brown wave was rushing to the Scarabs.

He heard something behind him.

He turned around, and took out his plasma sword. He saw a switch next to him, and flicked it on. The interior of the Phantom lit up, and he gasped.

Infront of him were three parasites. One being an infected Jiralhanae, and the other two being infected Yanme'e.

The Brute lunged forward, and Thel dug his sword deep into the rotten flesh of the Brute. A satisfying pop was heard, signaling to Thel that the infectious form controlling the Brute has died.

One of the Drones charged at him, and started to claw at him. Thel wildly moved his sword in the air, hoping to kill the Drone.

His hope payed off. The Drone fell down in five different pieces.

The other Drone fell down byitself, and Thel saw the infectious form climb out, and run to the infected Brute, hoping to take it's body instead.

He threw his sword at the infectious form, getting a direct hit. The form popped, and vaporized from the heat coming from the sword.

Thel ran to his sword, and powered it off. "Is there anymore of you defiled infections for me to kill?"
***********************************

Location: Ground of High Charity

Driblar reminded the Grunt near the Scarabs control center. "If you even see one of those parasites, self-destruct the Scarab."

The Grunt nervously nodded.

Driblar accepted his duty without hesitation, knowing he may not come back alive. He was to pilot the leader Scarab of his squad of twenty, which had the objective to target the leader parasite.

Driblar ran up to the topmost platform of his Scarab. He felt the intense heat as the long line of green melted a large wave of parasites in the street. The other two Scarabs with him also followed suite. The street he was on was wide enough for three Scarabs fit in. A few hundred feet in front of him, was the gargantuan leader parasite, which was doing something awkward.

He pulled out his binoculars, and zoomed in as close as he can, and shivered at the grotesque formation of the parasite. He was puzzled by what the parasite was doing. "Why is it destroyed that street?"

He finally realized what it's intentions were. It was trying to get to the control room, and his Scarabs were out of firing range.

"When can we get close enough to fire on it?", He asked the Brute next to him, which, by the purple armor it wore, was in charge of the coordination of the Scarab.

It thought for a second. "At this rate, we will be within firing range in about five minutes."

***********************************
"Just a few more hits and I will be there....", the Gravemind thought to himself. He already whacked the street under him as hard as he can a few times, and it just started to give.

Around him, waves of his minions charged at the incoming machines, which, from what he has learned from the corpses he has consumed, are called Scarabs.

If he didn't get the street open soon, the Scarabs would kill him.

He took his biggest tentacle, and swung it down on the street as hard as he can. The street finally gave away, and crumbled down the long massive hole.

A thousand feet below, was the control room, according to Tangent's information. He could see the bluish-white light deep within the hole.

He jumped up, and curled into a ball into the hole. Once his head was in it, he uncurled, and used his biggest tentacles to latch on to the street above. He would use those to create biomass to cover the hole once he fully infiltrated the control room.

A few seconds later, and he landed in a massive structure, creating a huge crater under him. Hundreds of Covenant working in the control room started to run. Some grabbed weapons, and tried to attack him.

He laughed at the futile attempts to stop him, and order the hundreds of infectious forms that latched onto his body to attack.

One by one the workers and defenders fell. He looked up at the massive room he was in. It reminded him of his old home, deep within the library of Installation 05, except here, there was life, a purpose, and the blue-white color that was everywhere.

He finally succeeded in his long goal. Once the last Covenant being in the control room was infected, he would begin plotting out his next move. Conquering the Galaxy.

Part four will be up in a half- 1 hour! Stupid character limit -.-

Fan-Fiction: The Human-Covenant War, Without The Great Schism. Story of how the war would have been if The Great Schism never happened.

Chapter Seven (Part Four): Turning Point

Driblar's jaws dropped. He failed his mission. The Gravemind has entered the control room..... All hope was lost. No one had the slightest idea of what the parasite would do with High Charity.

Even though he failed the mission, he still wanted to take as many parasites as he can with him. He wasn't going to go down without a fight.

"Sir!", the coordinator started to speak, "We are in their territory, and we have something unexpected."

Driblar turned to stare at the coordinator. He just realized they were both in danger, due to them being on the top platform of the Scarab, with no cover. "Well, spit it out."

"Right." The coordinator hesitated, trying to find the right words, and spoke again. "The parasites have unexpectedly started to form the streets into flesh, at an alarming rate..... Sadly, our Scarab's Can't walk through this type of terrain, and we can't evacuate the Scarab because we have parasites under us. I have reports that they have started to climb onto our Scarab...."

Driblar growled. "So what your basically telling me is, we are stuck, and have no way of leaving this Scarab?"

The coordinator nodded nervously.

"I want you to do something for me, tell everyone to make their final stand." Driblar ordered

The coordinator nodded, and started towards the stairs.

What seemed like it came out of nowhere, a parasite infected Yanme'e grabbed the coordinator, and sluggishly moved it towards the side of the Scarab.

Driblar tried to help, but fell as the Scarab shook violently. The two main guns of the Scarabs exploded, and the legs failed. The Scarab slowly started to sink to ground level.

He looked back at the coordinator, who had two more Yanme'e on him, all trying to push him off.

"Help!" He yelled at Driblar.

Driblar didn't like to be ordered by younger class Brutes, but due to the situation, he had to listen. He got back up to his feet, and ran to one of the Yanme'e.

He grabbed it, and ripped off the brownish colored wings. The infected Yanme'e screamed, and started to violently wiggle around. One of it's claws cut Driblar's chest.

He dropped the Yanme'e, and took out his Gravity Hammer, and swung it down on the Yanme'e.

In his rage, he forgot about the AoE of the hammer, which was capable of sending things near it a few feet away. The AoE crushed the Yanme'e, and sent the other two and the Brute coordinator falling over the Scarab.

He ran to the side, and saw his coordinator swarmed by parasites. He looked over in the distance to the controlled side of High Charity, to find a startling surprise. Most of it was now controlled by the parasites. In the street he was in, he could see the Scarabs in his group also suffering the same fate.

The legs were destroyed, and the only thing keeping the Scarab intact was the platform.

He watched in horror as a Scarab tipped over on it's side, sending all personal over onto the street, where they were overcome by the parasites.

He ran to the Scarabs control panel, where he saw the hundreds of lekgolo worms squirming through behind the small panel. The Grunt he left in charge of destroying the Scarab was still there, shivering in the small corner.

"I'm scared! Help!" It yelled at Driblar.

Behind him, he could see that his Scarab was now overrun. Small blobular parasite forms started to crawl towards him and the Grunt.

In an effort to keep them away, Driblar grabbed the Grunt, and threw it towards the wave of brown blobs.

They all jumped happily on the Grunt, who was quickly overtaken.

Driblar threw a spike grenade at the carrier form that formed from the Grunt. It exploded, causing the carrier form to explode too, releasing dozens of small blobular parasites.

"By the gods! Protect me!" He yelled out as he crushed a blob with his foot. A few jumped at him, but he swung his hammer down, killing them. Where one popped, more came to replace it.

He swung down his hammer again, causing a chain reaction of pops. One of the blobular forms managed to land on his back. He tried to pry it away with both hands, but another one jumped on his wide open chest.

With the pain suddenly aching through his chest, Driblar grabbed the self-destruction remote, and pressed the button. His lungs started to itch as the intense heat started to devour him.

*************************************

Almost as if the parasite waited for Thel to say that, it came out of it's invisibility.

"Stop!", it screamed at him, "listen!"

Thel just barely lowered his sword, and stared at the infected Elite. It started to speak again in a raspy voice. "Why do you deny your fate? It is everyone's fate to serve with me. Join us, for we shall sing victory everlasting!"

He studied the infected Elite for a few seconds. "No."

"I am offering you a choice!", it started to reply. "Come under MY leadership, for I behold truth! Your leadership beholds lies!"

Thel growled. "Do not bring leadership into this, you defiled Elite! For you know nothing about it!"

The infected Elite laughed in it's disgusting voice. "It is not the Elite that is speaking to you, it is I! The Gravemind! Leader of the next step in evolution!"

"So that is what you sound like.... and that is what you are called....", Thel replied, raising his sword up again.

"I offer you a choice. You shall become one with us at some point in your life! If you choose to accept it, I shall offer you freedom..... If not, I will cause you eternal suffering!"

Thel was starting to get annoyed by this. "What makes you so sure I will become one of your defiled parasitic slaves!"

"In time we shall meet again..... And it is clear to me the choice you have made....." The infected Elite charged at Thel with a piece of metal, and swung at him.

He ducked, and swung his energy sword upwards, hitting the midsection, squinting as rotten flesh flew out towards the ceiling. From there, he moved his sword effortlessly towards the chest, where the blobular "brain" controlling the Elite would be.

A pop was heard, and everything went silent.

Thel deactivated his sword, and the rotten carcass fell down with a heavy thump.

There was some chatter in the cockpit.

He ran to the cockpit, and looked out at the viewscreen, ignoring the chatter. He was speechless at what he saw.

He thought to himself, "What? I was only gone for a few minutes, and this is what happens?"

In his view screen, he could see that the Scarabs were now overrun. Nothing could stop the parasites now. Most of High Charity was now controlled by the parasites. A brown fog was slowly starting to settle in. On the walls of the city, Thel noticed they also started to turn brown.

It wasn't just the color he noticed, but the form. It appeared to him that the parasite was now reforming High Charity with their own flesh.

"Arbiter! Leave High Charity now! We need you on this ship!" R'tas yelled into the cockpit.

"I will be right there." He barely whispered in a saddened tone.

After tapping in a few holograms, and sitting in the pilots seat, the Phantom quickly started to fly up, towards where the artificial star was, which would lead to space.

*************************************

A cold feeling entered Masterchief's head. "I'm bacc-blam!--blam!-! Did you miss me?" Cortana yelled into his ears.

"Not really, I didn't even notice you were gone." He replied.

"Yeah.... Sorry I forgot to tell you I was going to be busy....", She started, "I have been heavily analyzing the Covenant battlenet, which was why I was quite..... I found something interesting Chief."

"Spit it out," He said while walking towards the massive screen showing a holograph of Earth.

"The Prophets are leading this ship to the Ark, which is in the city of New Mombasa...... From what I've seen, it looks like they are going to land this ship on the Ark......"

"Next?", he said.

She hesitated, and replied. "I don't know, we will just have to see."

He inhaled deeply. "How long till this ship reaches Earth?"

"Put your hand on that blue circle over there."

He did so, and felt the cold feeling in his head go away. In the massive room, Cortana's holograph appeared in the center. She was almost as tall as him.

"Thank you, and now to answer you question, we will be there in------ Wait, there is something else here.... Hold on...."

He moved closer to Cortana as she started to stare around. "What? What is it?"

"I.... Don't know.... I think there is something else here with me....."

He quickly answered back. "Do you want me to pull you out?"

She looked at the Chief. "No no, I'm okay.... I just need to find out------"

Electricity suddenly engulfed Cortana. She screamed and fell down. The Chief crouched down next to Cortana. "Tell me, what is going on?"

A deep mangled voice came into the room. It reminded him of the Graveminds voice.... but without the rasp. An AI construct? I have been a prisoner for far too long..... I have defeated many AI constructs that tried to join with me! However, you are a Human construct, the first I have ever seen.... You shall share the same fate as the pathetic AI constructs the Covenant brought!

No, acnboy. Spartain Ken 15 is a lesser being. Much like the bacteria that lives in your shit.

Subject: [FF] The War Without The Great Schism [FF]

Fan-Fiction: The Human-Covenant War, Without The Great Schism. Story of how the war would have been if The Great Schism never happened.

Chapter Seven (Part Five): Turning Point

Location: Aboard Forerunner Ship

Place: Enclosed circle, with Cortana and Mendicant Bias (MB).

Cortana looked around. She couldn't see the Chief anymore, all she saw was a blue fog surrounding her, and thousands of digits floating around. A deep voice yelled through the fog.

//Cortana//: What do you want?

//MB//: Freedom.

//Cortana//: Then what do you want with me?

//MB//: Power.... All I need is one more absorption of another AI... Then I can be free....

//Cortana//: What makes you so sure you can absorb me?

//MB//: And so the battle begins....

//MB//: Initializing bridge connection..... Attached to target 57HnbD67M..... 25% completed.

Cortana looked our into the fog. She couldn't move at all, but she could still see and hear. She could see a faint, thin light blue line coming towards her.

//Cortana//: Refreshing Cache.... Dumping files 197FnvBf64H-315FnvBf64H onto connection.

//MB//: Resynchronizing connection..... Connection synchronized.... 40% completed.

//Cortana//: Releasing 47Uns55-47A onto connection....

//MB//: 47,531,891 infections found.... Pausing connection.... Releasing file codenamed "Savior".

//MB//: All infections terminated, resuming bridge connection....

//MB//: That was a close one AI..... You might actually be a challenge... What do you call yourself?

//Cortana//: I will never tell you.

//MB//: Oh you poor construct, once the bridge connection is complete, I will take all the information you house.... then I will destroy you.

//Cortana//: What makes you so sure?

//MB//: Soon... You shall see...

//MB//: Connection Progress.... 60% complete....

//Cortana//: Initializing firewall.... Repacking firewall with file codenamed "Kiss my ass".

//MB//: Refreshing Cache.... Repacking connection...... Progress.... 75% complete....

//Cortana//: Setting firewall range to 85..... Recalculating....

//MB//: Progress at 80%.... Preparing file 88Yv7-99A.

The light blue line was now close to her, and she still couldn't move, it was just a few feet away, slowly coming closer.

//Cortana//: Repacking firewall..... Dumping Cache....

//MB//: Progress at 85%.... ERROR, ERROR, reinitializing bridge connection.... ERROR ERROR.

//MB//: WHAT HAVE YOU DONE.

//Cortana//: I'm just getting started.

//Cortana//: Firing file codenamed "Kiss My Ass" at bridge connection.... Reversing connection to target "Mendicant Bias".

//MB//: Hmm... a reverse... That is a new one.... You are very unlucky I was prepared for this...

//Cortana//: Bridge Connection towards new target "Mendicant Bias" 15% complete.

//MB//: Initiliazing new bridge connection.... resuming at 85%.

//Cortana//: What? How can you start a new one at where the old one stopped?

//MB//: Magic.

//MB//: new connection 90% completed....

The light blue line was now just a foot away.... There was nothing Cortana could do.... The light blue line that was coming from her wouldn't reach the attacking AI in time....

//MB//: connection 95% completed....

//MB//: I have you now!

The blue fog started to disappear, and Cortana felt herself being dragged upwards.... A voice was yelling after her, and a room appeared. She could see a green hand on a blue circle.

Are you alright? A voice asked Cortana.

The Chief heard a sigh. "Yes... I'm alright... I finally know how it feels to get outsmarted..."

"What was happening?", he asked.

Cortana told him what had happened, and he thought about what to say.

"You were only gone for one minute, but the thing is, while you were battling, your holograph was just standing still, I knew something wasn't right, so I guess I pulled you out just in the nick of time?"

"Yes, thankfully.", she answered back.

"You still haven't answered my question, Cortana."

"What question?"

"When will we arrive at Earth?"

"Oh... Well, It's November 6... if my calculations are correct, then we will arrive at Earth on the 20th of November."

The Chief nodded, and studied the picture of Earth that was on the T.V. "Is there any way I can get off of this ship?"

"Accessing blueprints... Yes, there is an escape pod just a few floors down, and it also has cryo technology. I'll lead you there, and don't worry, I'll wake you up when it's time."

A thunderous voice filled the room. "You were the first construct that has ever escaped my wrath.... and for that, I somewhat respect you.... I shall now wait for the next AI that tries to enter...."

"Ignore him, Chief, he can't do anything now."

He nodded, and walked through the door that led deeper into the ship.

***************************************

R'tas greeted Thel almost instantly after he exited the phantom.

"It has been quite a while... Thel."

"Please, call me Arbiter... I have no honor in my name anymore."

R'tas nodded. "As you wish, now come with me to the bridge, we have important matters to discuss."

They got to the bridge, and through the glass, Thel could see the now flood controlled High Charity.

R'tas also looked, but quickly looked away. "Thel, please, sit."

"No R'tas, I would like to stand, if you don't mind."

R'tas nodded. It was just him and Thel in the bridge. R'tas ordered everyone out.

"I see you have taken good care of the Shadow of Intent.", Thel said.

R'tas nodded. "We must do something about High Charity... I have proposed twi options, both of which require a great deal of courage... and sacrifice."

Thel nodded. "I'm listening."

"Hear me out on these. Tell me which option is the best, for I cannot choose by my self. The first option I have thought of is simple. We burn High Charity.... My second option, we retake High Charity, by means of both invasion and containment."

"Elaborate on the second option, if you may."

R'tas inhaled deeply. The Prophets about fifty ships, including their own, to the Human world called Earth. We have about 1,000 ships ready to fight. I propose we send in as many ships as we can, and send in a large invasion force. If that fails, we glass the streets of High Charity, still leaving the structure intact.

Thel put his hands on his head to think for a moment. High Charity is no more R'tas. There is no way we can defeat the flood. Everything holy about it has passed... I would go with the first option, R'tas. But if you object, so be it, you are the fleetmaster, not I.

R'tas slammed his hand on the table, and in a saddened voice, started to speak. "You are very right, Arbiter. I can't believe I was stupid enough to envision us saving what once was High Charity. I shall ready the fleet to destroy High Charity."

Thel nodded, and R'tas tapped a hologram on the table, and started to speak. "All ships, ready all your weapons, we are going to destroy High Charity. We shall commence in one hour."

*****************************************

Unknowingly to the Covenant, 2401 Penitent Tangent hacked into the Covenant Battle-Net. He could see everything the Covenant are planning.

The Grave mind, now safe inside what he called "Flood Charity", replayed his victory inside his mind.

"Sorry to interrupt you", Tangent started, "The Covenant are planning to destroy Hig--- I mean Flood Charity via bombardment, what would you like to do?

"Hmmm... I have two choices in mind... Earth, or the Elite home world Sangheilos. If I crash Flood Charity into Earth, I could infect the Humans AND the Covenant. But they will most likely form a temporary alliance against us.... But if I choose Sangheilos, I will not get a wide variety of things to infect, which means less information and technology.... Your turn."

"Well", Tangent spoke, "I would prefer Sangheilos if you want your army to continue it's conquest, but if you choose Earth, you are just putting a bigger risk for a bigger prize. You will have to choose soon, the Covenant are going to attack soon."

"I have waited a long time for such a moment... and I don't want it all to go to waste. I am going to choose Sangheilos. How long will the journey be?

"It will be two days via Slipspace, but be in mind. Entering Slipspace will damage Flood Charity to the point where on exit of Slipspace, it will be inoperable. I will have to plan the crash precisely."

The Grave mind laughed. "How much damage will my Flood Charity recieve?

Tangent hesitated. "The spire will be heavily damaged, the outer part of the dome will rip apart on exit. That may be a good thing, as thousands of pieces of debris will rain upon the crash site, possibly causing further damage and infection."

"Good, send us to Sangheilos." He ordered to Tangent.

"Aye, master", he responded. "Give me a moment."

*****************************************

R'tas looked at the view screen. All ships were now in place. Each about half a mile away from High Charity, preparing to fire.

His ship, along with two other capital ships, stayed a few miles away, just in case something happened.

R'tas looked back at the crew in the bridge, which consisted of mostly Brutes, and a few Elites. He nodded, and looked back at the screen.

He tapped a purple hologram, and spoke. "All ships, fire a---"

Everything became distorted. The view screen began flashing black and white. R'tas tapped a button, which closed the view screen, and revealed space through glass.

A hole formed on the top of High Charity, and the lazers fired from the ships were sucked into the hole. High Charity slowly disappeared into the whole, along with the thousand or so ships surrounding it.

Then it was calm. Everything came back online. He ordered the bridge to send a message to the other two capital ships to follow his ship into the hole.

Within a few moments, the Shadow of Intent, and the other two capital ships, Infinit justice and Descending Terror, entered Slipspace.

He nor anyone else knew where they were heading.
