You say goodbye, and I say good riddance.

There was this strange feeling I had... like i had excepted that I would not make it through the next wave. That, after all the hell I had just gone through, all of the heroics that kept my team alive, all those hero medals, that awesome killionair, it was all coming to an end.

No video game has really given me that feelig before. As i said, it was profound, being faced with a situation that I could not succeed at.

So, in essesnce, A battle that I can not win would be my dream battle in a halo game.

My thoughts exactly.

But you will still fight for your life, and try to take out as many enemies as you can before finally falling.

It would definatly be an original spin on a Halo battle.

The prospect of charging into a battle you cannot possibly win, with the single minded goal of taking as many of the covie bastards with you, is just awesome.

I mean, think about it. All other halo battles are about turning the tide, and walking away feeling like a badass. We never really get a chance to expirience defeat at the hands of the covenant. Or at least, we have never really gotten a chance to see the consequence of losing, beyond the words "loading last checkpoint" popping up on screen.

If Reach has a darker tone to it, this could help that feeling resonate, and ulitmatly become a more impactful expirience.

I lika do da cha cha.

An empty field with 10,000 spartans, ODSTs dropping from the sky into phantoms, 40,000 covenant and pilotable longswords/pelicans. FTW

Also had a dream last night (weird that I actually remembered it)

I was a Spartan with about 5 other Spartans in an outpost in an area sort of like High Ground, but more crowded (foliage and stuff) and not an actual base, just makeshift like. We had civilians in the base also and spare parts for the Mark VI armour were there along a few extra weapons. We were talking about going out and finding more survivors from the city in a few minutes when a few Spirits came in and dropped off many many Covenant forces and they all rushed the base. Spartans started into strategic positions and on a turret or so and they just fought like crazy while trying to keep the civilians alive. Armour was damaged and had to repair mid-battle, etc... The Spirits kept coming dropping off troops and it was like an endless battle with many civilians and like 1 or 2 Spartans dying.

In the end, the Spartans were exhausted and sore, calling in to evacuate the civvies asap and everything....then I woke up as another Spirit was coming down 15 minutes after the last battle =(

I woke up really soar though and it hurt to move...which was weird D=

People keep telling me to get a life... I am getting an education, I have a lovely girlfriend and alot of friends... I thought this was having a life? Gues I was wrong...

My Dream Halo battle is hundreds of HEV Pods being launched from High Orbit, followed by several wings of pelican gunships, all firing missiles on the ODST landing spots before they land, then the ODST lands and all fire is consentrated on the ODST, but here comes the Longswords and starts doing flybys to eliminate all covenant armor and as the Covenant struggle to recover, the Pelicans land and marines is put into battle.

Yes, this is my dream battle, it will never happend, but it would be cool in my opinion :)

It would be cool if you were "forced" into a battle, you had to run from a force behind you to a checkpoint that is by another force of covenant. And you have to hold the area aslong as you can for whatever reason, but after 10minutes of just pure killing you go into a cut scene where your character is knocked out and left for dead. Would be amazing to see something like that.

If you see this post in your topic I'm sorry to tell you but your topic is dying.

One spartan with Halo CE pistol, 10,000 Grunts within close proximity, and Gruntbirthday skull. The sounds of the children's joy will be heard for miles and tons of confetti will fall from the sky!

  • 10.17.2009 5:12 PM PDT

Just a large-scale one. I've never played a game that can do big battles in first person. Remember making armies fight in Age of Empires scenario editor? That, but Halo. Then jacking a banshee and just splattering lines of Covenant. Then taking cover on an elephant and defending it as it drives forward. Then a Spartan pulls up in a warthog and you jump on the turret as he goes a-splattering.

I wouldn't make it so that after the time limit the game cuts to the scene but you should just fight till you die. When you die, the cut scene appears. Doesn't matter what difficulty, but after that time limit expires, they just drop enough Wraiths, and have enough Covenant troops coming your way its just impossible to survive.

Sure, you could hop on a Banshee at first but after a while it will get so crowded with Phantoms and other Banshees firing at you that you will have no other choice than to resort to run and shoot tactics. If you are playing with 3 friends, and they die, they wont be able to respawn.

In a way they did this in CoD4 and in my opinion it was one of the best moments in the campaign(when the nuke goes off). It gave the game a real dark feeling and you just felt like crap. You tried so much, yet you still died. Again, this is not the same as CoD4, nor do i want it to be the same but it will give you the same sense of hopelessness which made that moment one of the best ones in video game history.

Whoever said i cant drink a chicken?

Either the battle from the Believe trailer or a huge scale battle in a city, completely destructible (think Red Faction style destruction) where marines get dropped off by pelicans, theres air-strikes and Mac Cannon strikes by the UNSC, ODSTs and Elites come down in their drop pods and smash through buildings, brutes smash through buildings with their gravity hammers. craters are getting blown in the ground. and you get to play around in this sandbox of haloey fun

also multiplayer vs in that would be badass

Good point. If you have played through Halo wars they had a Covenant turret thing, I cant remember the name but it was marked as an Uber unit. If you had that shooting down on you while you were pinned down, it would really make you think.

Im not saying turn Halo into a tactical game, but it would be fun to play a level where you had to think before you made a move, otherwise you would be screwed.

I WANT A HUGE ASS BATTLE WITH EXPLOSIONS AND 100's of BANSHEES FLYING THROUGH THE AIR WHILE WE SHOOT EM DOWN AND I WANT MARINES FOLLOWING ME AND I WANT FRIGIN TO FLIPS AND -blam!-.

In reality, I'm going to have to agree and say Believe

Only because its so beautiful. And it's pretty epic. Just needs a crap load of vehicles.

To be a Spartan and theres an Army of Elites And Brutes Running down to finish you, but you have to beat them all
(they will obviously have a little bit of health), And finish them all off, then theres a cinematic showing you all tired and yeah...

Due to the Spartans being vastly outnumbered at Reach, my version of an epic battle is when you are against near-impossible odds. Imagine coming out onto the battlefield to see thousands...no, millions of troops headed towards you. Above their heads, the sky is blacked out by banshees. And just to make it even better, the Covenant is backed up by at least 5 Scarabs, firing upon the UNSC installations around you, blinding you.

Epic...

ok u remember that 2nd to last ((epic)) cutscene where Arbiter & MC are back to back wepons ready - I was SOOOOOOOOOO pissed to not actually fight the grave-mind. I wouldn't ask for this in Reach ((for it wouldn't make ANY sense)) but thats what I'd want if there was a sequel to Halo 3.

Awesome

At least 20 Halo CE Hunters, and God's Sidearm (M6D Circa Halo 1)

  • 10.20.2009 6:26 PM PDT

Unofficial Thread Killer/Combo-breaker.

Dream Battle? Me, a sniper, an automag, a crate of ammo for both, and a big ol' crate of Plasma Grenades, up against a whole lot of Covenant. Betcha I can stick 'em ;)

Nah, what would be the challenge then? You could 4 shot those hunters with that gun. I liked the Halo ODST hunters in that it took (atleast in legendary) a good amount of bullets to put them down. I would like to see more than one pair of hunters attacking you. Something like 8 hunters, but this would cause some kind of chaos between them and they would probably end up killing each other. Before they do that i guess they should focus first on the AI.

Master Chief- "You're on."

One of the best Master chief quotes.

pretty much the beginning of Outskirts, regrouping with some Marines and defending their position from waves of enemies.

or a search and rescue mission in a city environment, you have several waypoints that you must check through (like Mombasa Street beacons) and you have to find the crashed ship and escort them out safely

  • 10.20.2009 6:31 PM PDT

or drive a pelican that will be so cool!
