BTB->Big maps
TT=4 peeps and not 8 peeps so Y would you need more big maps

Sooooo basically you are all complaining, because you hit Y on spawn to switch to your AR, cuz BR is cheap (even tho in CE the pistol was a 3 shot kill, that must be also cheap)....then complain because you can't kill the flag runner with your Close Range AR, when a BR, could easily have him dead by the time he got to long hall on Pit.

They don't move too fast, watch any high level game and even with flag running the flag gets stopped all the time. It's about practice (none of which you AR fanboys like to do, the game should be handed to you and your merciless kill trading beatdowns), learning how to properly nade, and learning that even with flag running, if you spawn snipe on pit, you can cut him off if you go training side and nade him when he crosses pit.

flag bouncing is a tctic that everone has the ability to do...while annoying i just been able to tune it out. But most people know where the flag runner is going anyway (with good communication) it should stay

If you're going to be on the side of flag bouncing, then we should just resolve to change the flag carrier traits. Change them to: Flag carrier moves at 100% speed, and has a waypoint visible to enemies. That would be like a constant state of "flag bounce" without having to drop and pick up the flag repeatedly.

Since when is it called flag bouncing? We're not talking about Halo 2, everyone I've seen calls it flag running until I came in this thread and saw that more than half the people are calling it bouncing. It doesn't bounce and you it doesn't go nearly as far when you throw at as it did in Halo 2. What you are suggesting defies physics if you are walking or running and drop something in front of you it's going to keep the momentum it had when you dropped it, not fall in that exact place.

the only thing i care about with this FLAG BOUNCING (which before I had just considered a clever tactic to put up a fighting chance) is the guys voice going FLAG TAKEN, FLAG DROPPED, FLAG TAKEN, FLAG DROPPED... so if that could be removed after its repeated a certain amount of times, otherwise im cool with the whole thing

You then lose the tactical trade-off of stealthing. I happen to think such a choice should be available.

Now there seems to be some different opinions going on about running the flag. So to solve this matter with my amazing idea of making a pros and cons list.

Pro: you can move faster
Con: it gives away your position
Pro: it allows for more strategy becuase depending on the situation you can choose to be sneaky or to move fast.


I'm not putting down that its a glitch because I dont think it is. On xbox live when you are playing a gametype where you need to hit a person twice with the flag or oddball you can glitch by hitting them and dropping the ball after and it will kill them. I think this would be considered a glitch.
When you are playing on Lan you cannot do the 1 hit beatdown glitch but you can still flag run. Bungie isn't gonna add in a 3 second delay everytime you drop the flag. what if your teamate gets sniped right before he picks it up but since you have to wait 3 seconds the guy with rockets got there and killed you. then you would come back on the fourm and complain about it. how about everybody stops complaining about everything in the game when the game is already good enough.

honestly Halo multiplayer/ matchmaking wasnt really meant for the casual crowd.. now fire fight is out, there is the casual player domain, its not going to be matchmaking anymore

Flag running is a legitimate tactic, it's not annoying and doesn't hurt the CTF gametype.
Yeah- plus your probably only annoyed by the "flag dropped- flag stolen" thing over & over. Your just like those ppl in the theaters who ACTUALLY get pissed at a person for answering their phone- for all you know someone was calling over & over so they just HAD to answer, in CTF Flag bouncing is a helpful & useful tactic- don't get pissed.

flag running is fine the way it is. Its a trade off: stealth or speed.

Flag running his good because when you're in the process of juggling it you can also get shots on the other team, and you can get your flag closer to your team/cover fire faster.

Stealth is good if have a team mate coming to pick you up in vehicle.

ummm ok??? its not that much of a problem plus every time the flag is dropped you can see where they currently have the flag so its both an advantage and disadvantage to the flag carrier


exactly. People who complain about flag running while dropping need to get over it, I'm expecting better things than that about the game. Modifying a single aspect of a single gametype is going to make a small difference, I'd rather see a better MM/spawn system or something applicable to all gametypes.

I agree.

Another easy way to solve this is to not decrease the the flag carriers speed. They are already vulnerable enough since they can not use their weapon. And to display a way point above them.

Oh and guys, I just want to point out that Halo is not that tactical at all. Big open maps, very little cover, bright, cartoony colors, etc. I mean, even without a way point, it is easy to spot people.

Dude I feel your pain when it comes to CTF games. I get so sick of hearing flag drop,flag taken,flag drop,flag taken through my TV speaker. Give me away to turn that guy off or make it so when you pick the flag up you can't drop the flag in till you die or make it so if you carry the flag back to your base with 1-4 drops you will get extra points so then there is a reason to not drop throw it all the time.

But the only reason why people drop throw it is because they play on small maps for CTF in Halo 3. In Halo 1 or CE whatever you want to call it, the people that would try to drop throw the flag would get killed very fast like it still is in Halo 2 and 3. But the only difference about Halo 1 is 1. you die a hell a lot faster and 2. There is touch return on. So basically if you drop run the flag and you die as soon as the enemy touches the flag its goes right back to the base so all that flag taken,flag drop,flag taken,flag drop was for nothing. Now yes they do have that in MLG but like I said before its played on a small map even if you play it on The Pit or Narrows its still a small map so its easy to drop throw the flag and win. Now if they went to big maps for MLG which most likely won't happen then you would have to work as a team to get the flag.

Now they do have Team Throwback in Halo 3 that has 2 Flag Classic (32.8%) - Players attempt to capture the opposing team's flag. First team to three captures wins. Players spawn with Battle Rifles and Assault Rifles. Flag Traits: Must be home to score, 3 second touch return, 10 second reset. 15 minute match time limit. But they only have Valhalla (Default) to go to for a 2 flag CTF games. So that's the only big map they put in there but at least there is one instead of none. Well all I was trying to say they need more big maps for Halo: Reach for CTF games. But in Halo 3 they should only play Multi Flag BR on big maps so there less drop throwing that's all. :)

But for all the people that disagree with your message I would say 75% of the people don't play Objective Games a lot and they love to drop throw the flag which they pick it up from Halo 2 and 3 and they don't want to change there ways to work more as a team or there just trying to hate on your thread so don't listen to them. Come on if don't have anything good to say then go somewhere else dude. :(

Its called an opinion, and everyone is free to post, if we think this guy has a stupid idea we have every right to say it. And I play objective a ton and its a completely legitimate tactic, if you think its cheap then you just suck.

1. You can turn your volume down to not hear the announcer, there's your option

2.Playing on a Small arena style map doesnt make CTF easy, take for instant MLG onslaught( O Boy :) Insanse CTF action.. the game can last 3 mins or go into overtime and yes flag throwing is the smart thing to do. Its more team work based then who can throw the flag faster because you may fumble

3. I dont think MLG will play 4v4 CTF on Sandtrap -_- thats just retarded

4. Dieing alot faster just means your team sucks and cannot uphold the other team, doesnt matter halo 1, 2, or 3 same thing

5.Valhalla is the only map because you actually have a form besides vehicles to get to the flag faster via lift if you dont get sniped and is extremely open

6. You sir need to get your facts straight.. mainly 75% play objective games. There wouldnt be 18 pages of arguing about Flag bouncing. MLG has 3/4 objective, 1/4 slayer.. Flag, Ball, KOTH, slayer
